choclatechip45 November 28 Share November 28 I saw Sterophonic tonight. I liked it, but long. Some people in my row did not return from intermission. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/9659-theatre-talk-in-our-own-little-corner/page/103/#findComment-8520020

The only question is HOW will I do that with a kid? I also want to expose him to theatre, and with a six year old, you're going to The Lion King, not the other shows! Gypsy is priority because, you know, Audra (is this the first time they cast an attractive actress as Mama Rose? Because I've always thought of her as a bit...frumpy. And Audra is nowhere NEAR frumpy. In fact, I think she's more Norma Desmond than Mama Rose). Do not bring your kid to see Sunset. It isn't appropriate and will surely both confuse and frighten them, trust me. Ouch to Mamma Rose being "frumpy"! Angela, Bernadette, Betty Lyn and Patti were/are all attractive gals! All ladies play Rose a little dowdy though. She's an exciting character part, not a glamorous part. The hype surrounding Sunset is unearned. Did anyone see Mama I'm a Big Girl Now? That looks like a fun time. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/9659-theatre-talk-in-our-own-little-corner/page/103/#findComment-8530824
choclatechip45 December 15 Share December 15 So I saw Suffs a couple weeks ago it was amazing. I saw All in tonight. I do not recommend. It was not very good. John Mulaney was good and so was Renee. 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/9659-theatre-talk-in-our-own-little-corner/page/103/#findComment-8533053
ebk57 December 15 Share December 15 I'm sorry I'm going to miss Suffs since I won't be there till the end of January. I'm trying to talk my friend into seeing Maybe Happy Ending with us, but if I can't, we may go anyway. We got tickets to see Paul Mescal in Streetcar in March. Looking forward to it! 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/9659-theatre-talk-in-our-own-little-corner/page/103/#findComment-8533065

The Notebook's Broadway run ended today but it's going to go on tour. I hope they'll make a Toronto stop. However, I'm unsure if I'm going to be able to handle it. I've listened to the cast recording and was crying within the first song. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/9659-theatre-talk-in-our-own-little-corner/page/103/#findComment-8533581
MicheleinPhilly Wednesday at 06:28 PM Share Wednesday at 06:28 PM For those with a National Theatre @ Home subscription, Prima Facie starring Jodie Comer is available for a limited time. I can't recommend it highly enough. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/9659-theatre-talk-in-our-own-little-corner/page/103/#findComment-8535861
ebk57 Thursday at 04:25 AM Share Thursday at 04:25 AM Got tickets to Maybe Happy Ending. And Eureka Day has been extended, so I got tickets to that today. Yay!! I was worried there wouldn't be anything I was interested in seeing other than Gypsy, but it all worked out. Spartan Girl Friday at 05:08 PM Share Friday at 05:08 PM Audra McDonald's Gypsy revival is getting massive praise. Man, I wish I could go to NYC to see it. 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/9659-theatre-talk-in-our-own-little-corner/page/103/#findComment-8537484
DisneyBoy Yest. at 06:09 PM Share Yest. at 06:09 PM I've heard mixed things actually. Everyone loves her, sure, but this production isn't perfect. Her voice isn't ideally suited for the role either. People really rave about stuff lately that isn't nearly as amazing as they make it out to be. ebk57 23 hours ago Share 23 hours ago Or maybe it's amazing to them, which is all that really matters. Also, Darren Criss was on CBS Sunday Morning today. He's delightful. I'm really looking forward to seeing Maybe Happy Ending! Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/9659-theatre-talk-in-our-own-little-corner/page/103/#findComment-8538660

I saw some scenes on CBS Sunday Morning last week, and I thought her voice was too low. I'm not going to see this one. I decided to rewatch the London production with Imelda Staunton. It's really good. It was filmed for PBS. Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/9659-theatre-talk-in-our-own-little-corner/page/103/#findComment-8538952

The only version I saw was the made-for-TV movie with Bette Midler as Mama Rose. So Mama Rose to me is Bette. Which kinda goes with my previous post - I saw the Imelda Staunton production on PBS and let's just say I won't be rewatching. I'll be sure to let you know how I feel about Audra at the end of January 😄 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/9659-theatre-talk-in-our-own-little-corner/page/103/#findComment-8539052
DisneyBoy 1 hour ago Share 1 hour ago I didn't see her live, cough cough, but the version I saw with Patti LuPone and Laura Benanti was stellar. Just perfect. I'm open to other casts, but Patti just killed it. Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/9659-theatre-talk-in-our-own-little-corner/page/103/#findComment-8539326
