MisterGlass July 21, 2019 Share July 21, 2019 This is very tangential, but there is a pet webcomic that includes a retired military dog and the kitten he lives with. 3 1 Link to comment

It’s probably going to be a plot point in a later episode. E.g. Sherlock will tell Joan something under duress, she’ll know he’s lying because of his tell, and he’ll know that she knows. Unless of course it it was just a guess by Joan and she said he had a tell so that he’d give her the full story. 1 Link to comment
seacliffsal July 25, 2019 Share July 25, 2019 My main take away from this episode was the same as many others-how could they place a retired police dog in a shelter? Not too many comments about the plot, but lots of comments about the dog. I wish they had developed the story a bit better but I guess we had to include Odin, drug cartels/gangs, clarifying that there wasn't a serial killer on the loose who was responsible for the artist/drug dealer's death, corrupt NSA officer, and several other things. It would be too much for the show to have a reasonable story for a retire police dog and how he ended up in a shelter. I was kind of hoping that Sherlock and Joan were going to adopt the dog at the end of the episode... After all, Clyde needs company while they're out investigating crimes. 4 Link to comment

Ollie would be a great candidate. 6 Link to comment

So, lots of stairs and Ollie has hip dysplasia. That said, Sherlock and Joan are pretty well off financially, so they could afford to get Ollie anything up to and including a total hip replacement to treat the dysplasia. Given that we'll never really know more about Ollie, I prefer to think that Sherlock and Joan paid for him to get full treatment and then arranged for him to go to his old partner now that stairs would no longer be an issue. 7 Link to comment

Surgery is stressful on the body and often has long lasting effects, so I prefer to imagine that Sherlock paid for a doggie stair-lift for Ollie in his old handler's (or another) home. 3 Link to comment

Even after the surgery the dog will still have pain from time to time - usually when the weather is bad Link to comment
