The fantasy-adventure series THE OUTPOST, starring Jessica Green, also returns for its second season on Thursday, July 11 (9:00-10:00pm ET/PT).

Thanks!   That was the quietest renewal ever.   If it wasn't for your post,  I wouldn't have known it was renewed,  so thanks for that.  👍

@Jacks-Son It had been announced in October that it was renewed and I had posted about it at the time. But I guess that post was lost in the great forum reorganization a few months ago.

October? ?  Where the Hell was I? Probably asleep on all the news and concentrating on the new Fall shows.   Anyway,  i missed that news and thank you for not only posting the premiere date,  but also that it had been renewed already.

This show was so bad - so I have no idea why I'll probably watch it again this summer...

Jessica Green remains ready to fight for ‘The Outpost’

Quote

Q: What can you say about your character Talon’s journey as Season 2 of “The Outpost” begins?
A: I can’t really say much without giving too much away, but the path she was taking at the end of last season takes a big right turn. There are a lot of interesting things that happen, and they were a lot of fun to play. I feel that happens with all of the characters. Everyone’s story really takes a turn.
*  *  *
Q: “The Outpost” is such a physical show, how did you hold up in making the newest episodes?
A: I had a couple of injuries. When I was training with my horse, it slipped through ice and threw me off, and I thought I’d broken my tailbone. Luckily, I didn’t. I just severely bruised it, so that was “fun” for a few weeks. Then, I hurt my ankle, I broke my toes over the last few days of filming … it was good! And obviously, there were scars and cuts and bruises on my hands from doing all those fight scenes with men with armor on.

It just comes with the territory, I guess. If you want to do your own stunts and you want to fight, you have to expect it. I tend to get bruises here and there anyway, so I’m used to it.
*  *  *
Q: The series’ filming location made a big switch from Utah to Serbia for the second season. How did you find it there?
A: I was pretty shocked when I first found out that was where I was heading, but it was an incredible experience and I wouldn’t change it for the world. Instead of filming on sets, everything was for real. I had an absolute ball.

Jake Stormoen Discusses ‘The Outpost,’ Shipping, and More [Exclusive Interview]
August 28, 2019Charles E Henning
https://telltaletv.com/2019/08/jake-stormoen-discusses-the-outpost-shipping-and-more-exclusive-interview/

Quote

Fortunately, Jake Stormoen isn’t going through the same ordeal as the character he plays. His warm demeanor and friendly smile welcomed fans to his table at this year’s Wizard World Chicago. Among all the clamoring fans, Stormoen found a few minutes to answer some of our most burning questions about his on-set experiences and fellow castmates.
*  *  *
When asked what drew him to the role of Garret, Jake Stormoen replied quickly with barely a second to think. “I’m a huge fantasy fan and have been my entire life.”
*  *  *
“As a kid, I wanted to be nothing more than a knight or Indiana Jones. Getting to audition for the role was so exciting. When I found out I booked it, I was stoked. I’m having the best time — I’ve loved that stuff my whole life,” he continued.
*  *  *
Stormoen explained as a child he was always reading anything from Forgotten Realms. “I’ve loved those kinds of characters my entire life. It isn’t necessarily anyone in particular that I can think of, but definitely one of those fictional characters that I read and daydreamed about as a kid.”

“I’m trying to relive that childhood and put that into the work,” he added. That’s a great way to never have to grow up if I ever heard one.
*  *  *
“I wanted to live in those fantasy worlds that my imagination always kept me in. I wanted to be a knight and a treasure hunter — acting was a way to do that,” Stormoen said.

He then mentioned that this kind of work is exactly what he wants his career to be known for. “I’ve been really fortunate in a ton of my work already. A lot of it has been in these fantasy worlds or period pieces — and I love that stuff!”

“If I could play a character that lasted through the ages in these worlds, that would just be the dream for sure,” he stated.
*  *  *
Moving on from life in other realms, Stormoen played a bit coy when it came to the question of who Garret’s heart belongs to. “You can’t ask me that! We have shippers on both sides — that is a dangerous question,” he laughed.

After composing himself, Jake Stormoen continued, “I would say that Garret has had a chance with Gwynn, and has probably given it a lot of thought. He has missed that boat and was drawn to aspects of Talon that maybe surprised him.”

“Ultimately I think he and Gwynn would be a really great match, but I don’t think he sees that. I don’t know that it could happen until he can recognize that and have confidence in himself,” Stormoen extended.

To not suffer the wrath of any certain fanbase, he concluded, “I can see arguments for both sides. I’m not sure that I’m allowed to cast my vote fully.”
*  *  *
When that subject was exhausted, Mr. Stormoen answered what he has in common with the character he plays on The Outpost. First approaching it as a joke, “This season or last season?”

He then went on, “I’ve tried to put a lot of myself in Garrett. I think he wants to do the right thing, and jumping before thinking is something that we share sometimes.”
*  *  *
“We get along so well — maybe too well,” he informed me. “Imogen loves to troll me on social media, and Jess is super fun. Everybody is great. We really have a fun time.”

“Season One was the first time we all met, and we bonded very quickly. The fact that we got renewed for Season 2, it was like a family reunion. It is a lovely group of people.”
*  *  *
Shifting from the topic of the show, Jake Stormoen touched on a few hobbies he had outside of acting. “I think you probably heard, I play D&D, Magic, and other tabletop games,” he said with a smile. “I love gaming — both tabletop and video games.”

“I’m also a super outdoorsy guy. I love hiking — nature recharges me,” he continued.

“Rock climbing, hiking, and gaming of some sort.” Stormoen reiterated.

Before our conversation came to a close, Jake Stormoen left with a shoutout to the fans. “Thank you for supporting our little show that is growing rapidly.”

“I love these types of worlds and playing this character, so being able to do that for a second season is because of the fans. Thank you truly from the bottom of my heart,” he said sincerely.

Charles E. Henning at Tell-Tale TV has been reviewing Season 2 episodes of The Outpost - here's his latest review...

The Outpost Review: Nothing Short of Heroic (Season 2 Episode 11)
https://telltaletv.com/2019/09/the-outpost-review-nothing-short-of-heroic-season-2-episode-11/

Quote

This little lad appears out of nowhere, going on about being spared from death like his sister and yadda, yadda, yadda. Now he is here to become a happy family again. Sorry if I’m just a bit skeptical Alton, but this all seems rather convenient.
*  *  *
The action scenes between Talon and Garret are marvelous as usual. These two work in perfect unison with each other, slaying the baddies as almost a single unit.

It is a bit surprising to see Talon forgive Garret so quickly and easily. With Talon being betrayed repeatedly this season, one would think that her guard would be up a lot longer than it is. We all want to see the best in our friends, but Talon knows firsthand that can often bite you in the rear.
*  *  *
Getting back to the topic of Janzo is a whole other story. While it feels great to see Garret and Talon reunite on the battleground, it rips at your heart to see what happens to our loveable dorky brewer.

After everything the sad-sack continues to do for The Outpost, he is still treated as a traitor.

Gwynn, Gwynn, Gwynn. Repeatedly I have come to your defense this season — taking each move you make as a calculated risk for The Outpost’s gain. But I’m going to have to draw a line here.

“When season 1 finishes, our big antagonist (Everit Dred) for the season has escaped and Garret goes off to find him,” Stormoen explains. “When he goes out of those gates, he’s a little messed up (regarding) the two love interests. Though some of the plot's finer points are yet to be unveiled, there is a measure of romantic potential between the leads, in particular the telegenic Stormoen and Green's fierce Talon, who is described as "a strong female lead ... who won't back down to a man, who has a cause and is going for it and won't let anything get in her way."

Stormoen notes he is enmeshed in what was referred to in the classics as a "love triangle".

"And I would say that a huge part of the attraction, the chemistry that is there comes from being attracted to the fact she is so independent and powerful and doesn't need anything," he says. "You know what I mean? She stands on her own two feet and she does it well.

"And she does it better than most of the men that she encounters," he adds. "It takes a lot to rifle her. And my character is very taken aback by that in a wonderful way. That's absolutely a huge part of the story and is embraced and has a light shown on it."

CW 2020-2021 schedule

The Outpost will air Thursdays at 9PM in Q4.

Quote

The CW’s Q4 schedule features the final seven episodes of Supernatural, a second season of CW Seed-generated  Two Sentence Horror Stories, scripted acquisitions The Outpost and Pandora, which the CW has been airing as original summer series, as well as the newly acquired Tell Me a Story, Swamp Thing, Coroner and Dead Pixels, whose seasons are in the can.

Supernatural has two episodes to film, with the rest in post production. The Outpost and Pandora also were impacted by the coronavirus-related production shutdown but both also have a significant portion of their seasons completed, so the hope is that all will be ready to air in the fall. Some scripted series, which produce 13-episode seasons, may start airing a little earlier to conclude their runs before January. The rest of the Q4 schedule is devoted to alternative fare.

EU Countries Make Film & TV Exceptions To U.S. Travel Ban In Bid To Get Big Productions Back Underway
By Tom Grater, Jill Goldsmith  July 1, 2020
https://deadline.com/2020/07/eu-countries-film-tv-exceptions-travel-ban-production-back-underway-1202974797/

Quote

Yesterday’s news that the European Union will not lift travel restrictions on the U.S. due to the scale of the country’s ongoing coronavirus outbreak prompted concerns about the re-start of American film and TV production based in Europe.

As of today (July 1), travelers from 15 countries including Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, Japan and China can cross borders into the EU, but the U.S. remains excluded alongside Brazil and Russia.

However, Deadline has spoken to local agencies in numerous EU nations and it is becoming clear that exceptions will be made in many countries for U.S. film and TV crew.

Key countries with major production facilities including Hungary, Czech Republic, Croatia, Serbia and Bulgaria have all confirmed that they will still welcome U.S. shoots this summer, as long as they meet COVID-19 safety stipulations, and some projects are already back underway.
*  *  *
In Serbia, the third season of CW series Outpost has already resumed shooting. “Serbia has no restriction on film and TV production travel into the country, quite the opposite,” said Milica Božanić, Executive Director of the Serbia Film Commision.

Jake Stormoen did a long Instagram live chat on Friday, Sept. 25 (with two special guests)...

-- Jake Stormoen (Captain Garret Spears) said that he's back filming the show.

-- JS: "We finished shooting Season 3 of The Outpost, uh, just a couple weeks ago, a few weeks ago. Uh, we started it in January because we are a summer show. ... Like I said, we just finished our third season. We started that in January. Typically, we shoot January till about June. Five-and-a-half, six months. Um, 2020 happened. COVID happened. So we took a break from March to - I don't know, about two months, starting somewhere in March, I believe. So April, May. Uh, and end of May, the last couple days of May, we came back to Serbia and we finished Season 3. We're about halfway through, almost at exactly the halfway mark. Um, so we finished that, uh, and we finished that - everything's a blur right now, so... back here a week, a bit, three weeks. About a month ago. End of August - no, really September? I don't know. ... Literally, everything is a blur to me right now. 2020 is a blur. The show is a blur, as far as plot points... For the life of me, I could not tell you what happens in what episode. I couldn't even tell you what happens in what season. There are so many moments where I'm like, man, remember that last year? It was like, oh, that was this year, just earlier. Um, so anyway, we are usually a summer show. But because of COVID, this year we have been pushed into a fall airing, which is very exciting for us, obviously... Typically, fall shows have bigger viewership, they get more eyes on them, they get more people talking about them, and therefore more people enjoying them. Right? ... But, a fall slot is great for us. We are also in the U.S. on The CW airing right after Supernatural this year, which is really exciting. I've loved Supernatural since its first season. ... But I love Supernatural. Right up my alley... It's awesome. So for me I was very tickled by that. ... But moving forward, especially with what we're shooting right now, I genuinely have no idea what the future holds. Um, far, far above my pay grade."

-- Anand Desai-Barochia (Janzo) joined the live chat at this point. JS asked if he had been watching Instagram and knew what he'd been saying. ADB asked if JS had spoiled that his (Jake's) character is killed off. JS responded in kind, saying that, yes, his character dies and Janzo becomes the new captain of the guard.

-- JS: "We're glad to be filming another 13 episodes for everyone."

-- JS said that he's trying to "rally" people to support the show. He also said that if people like the show, "this is the year to promote it."

-- They then decided to answer some of the fan questions that were being posted.

-- ADB (reading a fan question): "'Please tell me there are no more love triangles.'"
JS: "Do you want to field that one? Or should we ignore that one?"
ADB: "Are there? Are there?"
JS: "I can't - you know what? Genuinely, I - when I think of a love triangle, I think of like early Season 1... some in Season 2."

-- ADB (reading a fan comment): "'Jake, you look much better clean-shaven.'"
JS: "Sorry."
ADB: "So they're saying, you look like crap now - sorry... You look not great now. That's what they're saying."
JS: "You know what? You don't have to field questions anymore."

-- JS: "Janzo does need a love interest."

-- JS: "I kind of forget, like, only two seasons have aired. I don't know about you, Anand, but, like, with the amount that we've done now, I forget that people have only seen Seasons 1 and 2. It feels like we're so much further."

-- JS: "Do you think Season 3's going to be more dark or less dark [than Season 2]?"
ADB: "I think it's going to be a rainbow."

-- JS (to ADB): "What do you think people should do if they like the show this year? Because we air in less than two weeks."
ADB: "If they like the show, watch it."
JS: "Here's the thing. It's so important, you guys, to watch it as soon as possible. So if you can watch it live on CW or on their app, or anything like that, within the first - what - do you know how long it is, the turnaround... as those numbers are counted? Is it like first 24, 48 hours?"
ADB: "Oh, the Nielsen ratings?"
JS: "Or whatever version or current version of Nielsen it is now."
ADB: "The first day, whatever. But also if you watch it on the app, uh, 'cause I know that a lot of viewers watch it on the app, 'cause we have a lot of younger viewers. So they all watch it on the app as well."
JS: "I don't have a TV anymore, so I would have to watch it on the app... But we would appreciate it if you would watch it right away, um, because things like that help so much. And you guys have been so amazing so far, uh, which has been really cool to see. We talk about this, too, uh, on set. Um, it's been really cool to see that community kinda grow. And for you guys to cheer us on, while we do this."

-- ADB (reading a fan question): "'Any new actors this season?' Yep. Yeah, there are some."
JS: "Yes."
ADB: "There's some fun little additions this season. Um, I hope you enjoy them, actually, because they're really quite interesting."
JS: "Some great characters this season."

-- JS then asked what ADB was doing, because ADB seemed distracted. ADB said that he ordered food. ADB then gibed that that's what actors do after they wrap shooting for the day, because they're tired, they come home and they order food. ADB: "You wouldn't know because you're not on the show anymore."

-- ADB's food delivery arrived and he went to get it from the deliveryman at the door. He got eggplant parmesan.

-- ADB dismissed fan questions about JS's role as Dagen on Mythica. ADB: "'Dagen or Garret?' Who's this bloody Dagen guy?"

-- JS: "Anand, we finished our first week on this season."
ADB: "Oh yeah. We finished our first week this season."
JS: "Will you stop drawing attention, as you say it?"

-- ADB, who was eating his "garlicky" eggplant parmesan, signed off and left the Instagram chat.

-- JS (reading a fan question): "'Jake, why'd you change your hairstyle?' I don't. I don't make any decisions. C'mon. I don't decide the beard. I don't decide the hair. I don't decide, uh, how much Anand trolls me. I don't decide any of it."

-- JS: "Just to summarize... I'm so glad that anybody who's watched the show so far has stuck with us for Seasons 1 and 2. I hope you enjoyed Season 2. Um, we've had to much fun being in Serbia, making the show, and getting to use very real castles and ruins and - and, you know, these beautiful, huge forests and caves and everything else. Um, it's been awesome. It's been really cool. So I hope you liked seeing all that in Season 2. There's a lot more of that coming in Season 3. Uh, there are new characters, as Anand said. They're very interesting, fun characters. So we hope that you like them. ... I am still in Serbia. I will have been in Serbia for almost 10 months this year. ... If Anand was still on video, he would tell you that he would be in Serbia nearly 10 months this year, but that I am not there now because I got killed off. Uh, 'talk Garret and Talon.' We can talk about that in a second. Let me just finish real quick my thoughts... So I'm glad you liked Season 2 - I hope you liked Season 2. Season 3 is done. Season 3 airs in two weeks? October 8th. Nine p.m. on The CW, right after Supernatural. Um, and then this next season, I have no idea when it's going to air. Because I have no idea when it's going to air, I just wanted you all to know that anything we don't say is probably because we don't know. So, um, as a show that is a global acquisition and happens to air on The CW, um, and this year we're airing in the fall, which is very exciting for us, as I've said before, uh, if you like the show, now is the time to express that. Does that make sense? Because you know that you're going to get another 13 episodes after Season 3, which is really exciting. You know the story's going to continue. So now is an awesome time to get your friends in, to get your family in, uh, anybody that you can think of. Talk online. Community boards, reddit threads, whatever you want. Uh, but now is the time to do it. And as you can see, we love chatting with you. And, um, we will do everything we can to keep that interaction going. And I personally will try to welcome everybody I can into the fray. Alright? So let people know to tweet me, to comments. You know if you tweet me and I post something nice in response, you know Anand is going to jump in there and troll me. So that's - that's two-for-one right there. You know it. Um, so - so, come on board, is what I wanted to say in this live stream. I wanted to say, come on board. I want you to be here. I want to welcome everybody who's new. I want to thank the Outpost veteran viewers for - for all that you've done. ... Yeah, Blackbloods forever. ... But just know that I so appreciate everything you guys do. So much. Like, I can't even - can't even begin to tell you. ... So I just wanted to thank you... And I just wanted to say, if you really push this show, I will really push it with you. Do you know what I mean? Like, I want this to be a team effort. Um, and this isn't coming from a place of like, c'mon, we gotta get renewed, we gotta get - you know what I mean? Like, I'm not trying to - I'm not trying to poach numbers and things like that. This is just a very genuine, I'm excited to share this world with you, that we are creating, for most of this year. Um, it's been an incredible journey and it's been an insane journey that I will never forget. I mean, 2020 has just kicked all of our asses. Uh, I don't know how else to say it. It has. And I'm no exception. This has been - with the highs come the lows... Everybody's who's having a hard day, has had a hard day, I feel you. I really do. And I hope that Anand and I messing around, and our show when it airs, I hope that all of those things offer a little respite and a little reprieve from the craziness that's going on in the world right now. So be smart, look after each other, and, um, and enjoy The Outpost. And just know that, if it's a break every week, after you watch it, you can come on and tweet at me. You can comment on Instagram and I will do my damnedest to respond and to say thank you directly. Alright? I really mean that."

-- JS: "I am exhausted. I've been getting up at 3 a.m. since arriving back in Serbia. So, very, very tired. I might pass out soon."

-- JS (reading a fan question): "'Do a live with Jess one of these days?' Yeah. We can probably make that happen. I'll talk to Jess."

-- JS (reading a fan comment): "'I got so mad at Garret. So happy when Talon kicked his ass.' Well, thank you very much, Olivia. That's cool. Let's move right on."

-- ADB joined in again, this time accompanied by Jessica Green (Talon).
JS: "Hey, there's Jess. You wanted Jess. There's Jess... You got three of us here."
JG: "We're just, you know, bombarding your Instagram -."
JS: "I love it. No, this is great. This is super great."
JG: "We missed you. We didn't get enough of you at work, so, uh, you know - ."
JS: "Hah! Yeah. Everybody heard that."
ADB: "He can't work. He's dead."
JG: "Ah. Sorry."
JS: "Don't, Jess. Don't - don't cater to this. Don't encourage this. Alright, see ya."
ADB: "Bye, guys."
JG and ADB waved and signed off.
JS: "Bye. ... That was really sweet of them to pop in."

-- JS (reading a fan question): "'Will we have a Garron kiss in Season 3? Garron being Garret and Talon.' Find out. See what happens."

-- JS (reading a fan question): "'Favorite episode this season?' This season being Season 3? I have no idea."

-- JS (reading a fan comment): "'There better be a Garron kiss. I've been waiting for a lifetime now.' I don't - we'll see what happens."

-- JS (reading a fan question): "'Will there be a Garret and Janzo kiss? I hope Anand choked on his garlic eggplant at that.' You'll have to wait and see if there's a Garret and Janzo kiss."

-- JS (reading a fan question): "'Have you done any stunts?' I did a lot of stunts. Maybe not a lot. I lose track. It's all a blur. But I definitely did stunts."

-- JS: "I would love to do some convention appearances in Europe. And right now I'm working on doing some virtual, uh, convention appearances. We'll see if those come to fruition and materialize. Um, but that is the plan, because I miss hanging out with you guys."

-- JS (reading a fan question): "'More shirtless Garret this season?' You better believe it. Yep."

-- JS (reading a fan question): "'Same horses?' Yeah, although there's - you know, there's less horse riding in Season 3, which I was very upset about. And Jess, if you're still watching, um, I can speak for you as well. Jess was also upset about that, because we love - we love riding these horses that we've come to know.

-- JS (reading a fan question): "'Will Garret kicks Zed's ass for us?' Again, you're going to have to wait and see."

-- JS: "I can't tell you any specifics, you guys. You know that. You know that. You're just toying with me. I can't tell you any specifics of Season 3. Um, but I can tell you this, now is a good time. Now is a good time to join. You know I wouldn't lie to you. It's a big season. It's a - there's a lot that happens. It's a crazy season. It's a whirlwind of a season. And, um, I can't believe that it's finally almost here. And I'm real excited for you guys to see it. Um, I believe, by the way, for anybody not in the U.S., November 17th, if I remember right, is when it airs in a lot of other countries. Um, so October 8th on The CW in the United States and, uh, November 17th elsewhere."

-- JS (reading a fan question): "'Favorite people on set?' I can genuinely say that I adore the - I adore every single actor and crew member that we have. We are so lucky in who we have to work with right now. Uh, so don't make me choose favorites, because I can't."

-- JS (reading a fan question): "'Since you're back filming, does that mean you're filming Season 4 now?' Yeah. It kinda does, right? Um, we finished Season 3. Officially done. And, uh, we took two-and-a-half, three weeks off. And now we're shooting another 13 episodes. So, take that as you will."

-- JS: "I am still shooting. We just started. So today's Friday. We just wrapped our first week on our fourth season, basically. So, yeah, we're going to be shooting for quite some time... The production is set to shoot through the beginning of next year. ... I don't know what's going to come of this season, to be honest. I don't when it's going to air. ... I don't know if we're going to go back to being a summer show when the world finds its balance or if we're going to stay in the fall. I have no idea. Um, if anything, I would say that viewership, as always, will impact that, if there is something to be impacted. Um, it might be decided already and I just don't know the answer."

-- JS (reading a fan question): "'Were you surprised by the script?' Yeah. I was. There's, um - Season 3 has some pretty - pretty serious curveballs and, uh, fastballs, and every other kind of ball in baseball. And how many times can I say 'ball'? But - but there's some good stuff coming. And, um, even the stuff that we've shot for this new content, um, is pretty exciting. So you got a lot of good stuff to look forward to."

-- JS: "I can't tell you what's going to happen to the kingdom. I can't say any story points, but you're gonna want to see it. And I can promise you this as well. The first episode of Season 3, we open with a bang. Uh, so get ready. Buckle up. Make some popcorn. Make a night out of it. Um, have some fun. Because it's - I'm so excited for you guys to jump back into our story."

FYI, this podcaster has already seen 3x01 (which debuts Oct. 8th) but said that he tried not to spoil anything major (although there are a few spoilers mentioned during this podcast)...

ETA: Despite the low production quality of this series, I found this show surprisingly entertaining last season.
