paulvdb January 19, 2019 Share January 19, 2019 Now Apocalypse premieres March 10 Quote "Now Apocalypse" stars Avan Jogia ("Tut," "Twisted") as Ulysses, who is struggling to figure out his life in the surreal and bewildering city of Los Angeles. Kelli Berglund ("Lab Rats," "Dolly Parton's Christmas of Many Colors") stars as Carly, Beau Mirchoff ("Awkward," "The Fosters") as Ford, and Roxane Mesquida (Kaboom, "Gossip Girl") as Severine, all of whom are on quests pursuing love, sex and fame. Between sexual and romantic dating-app adventures, Ulysses grows increasingly troubled as foreboding, premonitory dreams make him wonder if some kind of dark and monstrous conspiracy is going on - or if he is just smoking too much weed. starri January 25, 2019 Share January 25, 2019 This looks like just about every movie Araki made in the 90s. And I'm down for it. 2 Link to comment
Bruinsfan January 30, 2019 Share January 30, 2019 I've seen speculation that it's a TV adaptation/re-imagining of his movie Nowhere. Link to comment
starri January 30, 2019 Share January 30, 2019 That seems plausible, given that Nowhere was part of trilogy he called Teenage Apocalypse. I remember liking the movie, although since it never got a DVD release in the US, I doubt I've seen it since VHS was a thing. Link to comment
starri March 10, 2019 Share March 10, 2019 This is going to be as polarizing as all of Araki's work, but I REALLY liked it. And it does definitely seem like an update of Nowhere, not the least of which is a small cameo by James Duval, who I suspect is playing the same character. And Avon Jorgia and Tyler Posey have excellent chemistry. Link to comment
Dminches March 10, 2019 Share March 10, 2019 The pilot was awful. My guess is that the writers saw HBO’s failed Here and Now and thought they could do a better job. Well, they didn’t. If you can’t come up with a new idea, don’t bother until you do. 1 Link to comment
Bruinsfan March 11, 2019 Share March 11, 2019 I mostly enjoyed it, but I'm not being wowed by it. At least I feel something of a connection to Ulysses and Carly as the more rounded of the characters; Severine and Ford are just too flat for me to sympathize with. (The latter is totally going to get roped into being a go-go boy at a Bryan Singer-esque pool party, isn't he?) Link to comment
skotnikov March 18, 2019 Share March 18, 2019 Poor Beau, he'll probably play stupid j*rks until the end of his career. The show is weird and not in a good way. Link to comment

showme March 23, 2019 Share March 23, 2019 No complaints, there are so many man candy on the show, speedoes and big bulges. Keep them coming! Link to comment
emcmac87 March 26, 2019 Share March 26, 2019 I feel like the show didn’t even really get started on the what the main plot was supposed to be until the last episode. Also not sure why they featured Tyler Posey so much when promoting the show, considering how often he’s actually in it. Agreed though that I definitely enjoyed the eye candy Link to comment

Bruinsfan April 8, 2019 Share April 8, 2019 It dawned on me about 30 seconds before the reveal that Barnabus was one of the lizard aliens—so stoked I got it right! I wonder if his interest in Ford is because he's dating Severine? Link to comment
Bruinsfan April 15, 2019 Share April 15, 2019 Is anyone besides me cracking up over Jethro's apparently booming career playing dead bodies? He's going to become the Doug Jones or Andy Serkis of television procedural corpses! 1 Link to comment
darkestboy April 15, 2019 Share April 15, 2019 Watched the first two episodes so far and it's stupid fun. Not the greatest show out there by any stretch but fun enough with a likeable (if reckless) enough protagonist in Ulysses but the ratings don't seem to be the greatest for this one. Have Starz renewed it for a second season? Link to comment
Guest May 24, 2019 Share May 24, 2019 I wanted Avan to play Aladdin, but since that isn't happening, I guess watching him pretend to jerk off Tyler Posey in an alley will have to do. This show is really testing my boundaries for gratuitous sex scenes, which I didn't even realize I had. It's basically porn vignettes with the stoner alien subplot thrown in to get it past the censors. 90% of dialogue between characters occurs during sex. The majority of characters are introduced during sex. Characters fuck within 10 seconds of meeting. Three characters masturbate (unprompted by anything) in almost back-to-back scenes in the same episode. I find myself sighing and saying "another sex/masturbation scene?" The cam girl stuff is at least plot-relevant so I'll give that a pass. But I am laughing at the visual of Ford's actor or some poor PA having a cup of...milk? yogurt? or whatever it was as fake cum to fling across his chest at the designated moment. And how many actors have lined up and filmed for a day just to pretend to jerk it at a webcam? That's definitely not a credit I'd want on my reel. Overall, it just feels like actors who are tired of playing teens trying to prove themselves and force themselves out of that demographic by doing as many X-rated scenes as possible. Link to comment
Bruinsfan May 24, 2019 Share May 24, 2019 A couple of the actors who've played Carly's clients have at least had interesting twists to their parts, like the guy who was reading lines with her and the pee fetishist who turned out to be the Starz network exec she was pitching her web series to. Bruinsfan July 29, 2019 Share July 29, 2019 What, Jethro being raped by an alien lizard man didn't leave the network execs wanting more? Link to comment
Rinaldo July 30, 2019 Share July 30, 2019 Honestly, I can't work up much regret over this (except, as always, for the actors now out of work). Where did this season take us? Link to comment
