CrazyInAlabama January 9, 2019 Share January 9, 2019 (edited) I felt sorry for the judges. Even if they didn't eat everything on their plates they had six dishes at each of three restaurants. They must have been stuffed to the gills. It looked like the judges' plates had more on them. I'm really over the giant flying saucer soup plates with the huge amount of plate, with the central cup center for serving. Smaller bowls without the giant lip would look better. I thought the wait staff was only to communicate with the expediter, in Third Coast that would be Justin, so I can see Kelsey telling them not to talk to her. Also, Adrienne told her wait staff to only communicate with her, so it was the same idea in her restaurant. The people from the podcast did mention that the portions were minuscule, plus all those people at the table are used to events were they try a ton of dishes and they aren’t cleaning their plates. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/89623-s16e05-restaurant-wars-part-2/page/4/#findComment-4966935

I might not have seen it right, but it looked like Kelsey was talking to a bunch of servers that had a Sara intervention on how to deliver their orders. It looked like a group just kind of milled around chatting instead of heading back out on the floor and Kelsey wanted them out and away from the cooking area. He should have been sure that the right food went into the hands of the right servers. He seemed so distracted by Nini that he failed to do his job. I would think a simply diagram of the restaurant with the tables numbered on the kitchen wall would do the trick, no? True. I was just suggesting another marking method of tables that I seen at a restaurant . And to have a quick visual while at the table taking the order, as to the number. The suit was very nice until you got to the Star Trek/ Dynasty shoulders. Please do not let this be a new fashion thing. Nini signed her own death certificate. They were in the weeds to start. She should've taken a few minutes when she realized the staff were screwing up so bad and taken them back to the kitchen, dressed them down, did a quick reteach and let them try again. She had to know how bad FOH was running but did nothing about it, other than try to wait and clean all the tables herself. I'd have been livid because their bad waiting was costing ME the TC title. "Who are you wearing tonight, Padma?" "I'm wearing Edward Gorey for Dr. Suess." *** Nini was the kind of hot mess that thinks it's fire-proof. What bugged me about her was that she went from seeming confident to arrogant. 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/89623-s16e05-restaurant-wars-part-2/page/4/#findComment-4970524

All three kitchens were laid out literally side by side, you can see it in the wide field shots. Sara's servers were chatting off to the side instead of heading back out on the floor and I think that's who Kelsey was telling to shut up. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/89623-s16e05-restaurant-wars-part-2/page/4/#findComment-4972769

It bothered me his execution of the dish was not mentioned by brian, when it was cooked perfectly and a time consuming complicated dish. My understanding was that he chose that dish because it would be sous veed, so it just sat in water at the correct temperature until it was ready to be plated. I think the time consuming part was the preparation before it went into the water; once that was done it was just a matter of pulling it out, slicing it and serving it (and adding whatever else was in the plate). Which would make it a good choice for someone working front of house, and also why no one else was given credit for it (at least, that we saw). I also don't like when the freezers and other appliances are not working properly is just to add drama. I know these things happen but when they do in real life you have backup items on hand when you can't serve ice cream. Which the contestants don't have on this show. I am not saying Nini should have stayed - her FOH was awful. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/89623-s16e05-restaurant-wars-part-2/page/4/#findComment-4995837

Rai March 25, 2019 Share March 25, 2019 I was convinced that they'd do another Restaurant Wars once the early LCK winner had been decided, and to do it more traditionally between two teams to see what they'd learned from the first go-round. I was wrong. But I think it would've been an interesting challenge. Your first restaurant failed. What have you learned? You could even take the two concepts that didn't win and assign one to each team and say, "Okay, do them again. New personnel, new dishes? Figure them out." Alas. 4 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/89623-s16e05-restaurant-wars-part-2/page/4/#findComment-5156638
