Jaded February 1, 2018 Share February 1, 2018 Quote Antonio finds himself getting close to Salvadoran detective Marcella Gomez, but he eventually learns that she has an ulterior motive for being in Chicago; Voight finds out that the body of his son's killer has been discovered. Link to comment
doLLish February 1, 2018 Share February 1, 2018 Why was Antonio ignoring Kim’s calls like that?? Him being that whipped by someone he met 5 minutes ago is so lame. He’s way too old and too experienced of a detective for this nonsense. It was nice to see somebody not put the gun down when asked lol This was an excellent episode. Another one where I actually put my phone down the whole time. 9 Link to comment
NJRadioGuy February 1, 2018 Share February 1, 2018 Yup, I really liked this one a lot. Even the little things, like Voight and Antonio in the box with the kid. I constantly rag on TV detectives for their shitty interrogation techniques but this was right on. That's exactly the way to do it. What you didn't see, and what would really happen afterwards, was the kid goes down for first degree and, with the ringleaders now dead, he's likely going to do the full ride for his part in the shopkeeper's murder. This story line would have had a greater impact if we'd been introduced to Marcella 2 or 3 episodes ago, and the chemistry had been allowed to develop between them before the big betrayal. One-and-done was pretty obvious once they boffed. If they'd done the slow burn over a month's worth of shows, then ::bam:: it would have been devastating to the viewers. Had they done that, I would have edited the episode differently, though. The bar convo comes a bit earlier, setting up what's obviously going to happen before the Olympics break, then back to the squad room. Antonio throws her picture in the trash exactly as he did, with the camera lingering on the bin as it did, in silence, then credits over black, no music. 2 Link to comment
FnkyChkn34 February 1, 2018 Share February 1, 2018 I agree that this was another good episode. It's gotten so much better than the first few episodes of the season where I was ready to give up on it. I wasn't invested in Marcella, so I don't really care that it was a one-and-done episode, but it was a good enough story. And dare I comment on the Lindsey references? I'm happy that they acknowledge that she's alive, and she was a big part of all of their lives. Jay even adding the "... and Chicago" when talking to Upton was good. No need to dwell, but at least remembering it happened is a nice nod to the fans. (I'm still holding out for a Doug Ross/Carol Hathaway like ending for them, but I could easily be the only one and I won't hold my breath.) I still need more Platt and Atwater in my episodes, but I liked when he went undercover at the bakery. 2 Link to comment
Dvldj February 2, 2018 Share February 2, 2018 Voight was bound to make a mistake but, one that easily traceable? I remember he went to his friends at the bar to help track down his son's killer, he should have also just had them take him out so he had no connection to the murder/cover up. I understand why that was never going to happen, he needed to look into the man's eyes as he took his last breath but, it would have been smarter which I expect of Voight. 20 hours ago, doLLish said: Why was Antonio ignoring Kim’s calls like that?? The way he ignored the calls, I figured he was trying to put work to the side so he could enjoy his time with Marcella at the bar, But then to see him doing it the next morning was just stupid and weird. I don't know what about her made him go all googly-eyed almost instantly but, it wasn't believable for me nor did I sympathize with Marcella's death. 20 hours ago, doLLish said: It was nice to see somebody not put the gun down when asked lol I couldn't agree more! spunky February 3, 2018 Share February 3, 2018 I get that Kim can be annoying, but for Antonio to continuously ignore her calls for some woman he met 20 seconds ago was irresponsible. What if his partner was in mortal danger and he ignored her calls for 2 minutes of pleasure? He was acting like a school boy with a crush the whole time and couldn't see he was being played like a rusty violin. I'm not even worried about Voight, he'll crawl out of this smelling like roses while Woods ends up in the silo's. Kevin and Adam in the bakery was cute. Does the owner have a daughter that Kevin can date? I mean seriously even Voight gets some escort action. I felt for Marcella, I knew the case was personal for her when she began crying while watching the video. Now we know why, she had a visual of how her child died. No matter how much Voight lectured (insert side eye) or Antonio begged she wasn't going to put the gun down. As Voight rightly stated the hate she was carrying kept her going. 2 Link to comment
jewel21 February 4, 2018 Share February 4, 2018 This was a really great episode. It had a nice feel to it and it held my attention the entire time. I never once looked at my phone. I liked Marcella and wouldn't have minded having her around, but alas, it was not meant to be. I also enjoyed the Lindsay reference. 1 Link to comment
Guildford February 4, 2018 Share February 4, 2018 So this weeks' POD character moment goes to Antonio Dawson.....by all means ignore phonecalls from you partner just so you can get your rocks off....not out of character AT ALL. 2 Link to comment
jewel21 February 5, 2018 Share February 5, 2018 Yeah, Antonio ignoring all of Kim's phone calls was annoying. Like, if you're partner is trying that hard to reach you, it must be important, so answer the damn phone, dude! 2 Link to comment
Tony4Brett February 9, 2018 Share February 9, 2018 I love an Antonio episode and although he made some bad choices, he did apologize to Kim. As for his emotions killing Marcella, sometimes its hard for a cop to kill people. He didn't want to kill her, he just wanted her to put the gun down. I felt bad for him. Link to comment
