Whenever I see topics like this, I can't help but notice a lot of artists pop up that had long careers in the UK or elsewhere in the world. Coming from a different angle, who were some artists that were huge in the US but were one-hit wonders elsewhere?

To kick things off, I present John Denver, who had a bunch of hits in the US, but only a single top 40 hit in the UK:

Had forgotten about this song. I recall it came out when I was around 12, in 1984, and the video did get some airplay on MTV. Always liked it, maybe because it told a story:

I remember her.  This song hit like #30 and another song she did Stuck hit around #50 on the charts.  So she's borderline one hit/two hit wonder I guess?

 

Nonetheless she is good.  I think her genre is more Christian music though?

I've been hearing that song pop up a lot lately in commercials and whatnot. I want to say some artist sampled it in a song, too? Which totally doesn't make me feel old at all, no :p. 

But yeah, I liked that song back in the day. Still good.

I think they qualify as a one hit wonder.  I just heard this song on another video I was watching.

 

It's very 90's but I like it.  Even this got me dancing at some point way back in the day

That song was HUGE 10 years ago.  I wonder how people knew what it was about though.  lol

This is the only song I remember of this group so I'm tempted to call them a one hit wonder.

It looks like that was their only hit.  I remember hearing their next song that came out after that, "More Than Love," and liking it, but it didn't go anywhere (Wikipedia says that one didn't even make the Hot 100 at all, just the Adult Contemporary chart).

Yes! I hear this song on occasion on a '90s station I listen to and I definitely remember it being on the radio when I was younger. I like that song :). 

Never seen the video before, though.

Whenever they play that song on Music Choice ('90s or Throwback Jamz), they always put up a fact about him having a whole bunch of hits in the UK, maybe all from the same album.  I don't think I've ever heard one of his songs other than "Return of the Mack" either though.
