Kanaloa September 5, 2017 Share September 5, 2017 Quote The race makes its way to Sault Ste Marie, where the penultimate Roadblock serves up a dose of entomophobia. Link to comment
Pepper the Cat September 6, 2017 Share September 6, 2017 Nope nope nope nope!! I would not do that Roadblock even for a million dollars!! I am freaking out just watching. This is worse than the snakes last season. 1 Link to comment
SomeTameGazelle September 6, 2017 Share September 6, 2017 Sad to see Karen and Bert go, and I feel bad for Bert being the one to have the cockroaches crawl on him, but it was a fair elimination. I wasn't sure whether all teams had the same number of bugs but even if they did I did think it was unreasonable for Bert to expect Korey and Ivana to slip them the answer (unless all of the teams had previously discussed helping each other in order to get Team Give 'er (Team Giver? Team Giv'er? Team Give'r? there is no way of spelling that that I feel good about) out of the finale, but if so I would have expected to see that set up earlier somehow.) I have never curled but I have played crokinole and I would love to try to crokicurl. I was slightly spoiled because I saw a tweet before the show was over mentioning the gameplay wondering why more teams hadn't tried to hit the button, but it seemed obvious to me that it was because they were limited because they had to hit their opponents' rocks -- and for the first turn when Sam and Paul decided to place their rock far away from the centre I assumed that it was because they didn't think they would hit the button and putting it in the inner circle would just make it easier for Ivana to hit their piece and ricochet into the button. Sam and Paul are the team to beat at this point. I feel a little glumly (unspoiled) that Givr are getting some kind of winner's edit but I would rather see Sam and Paul or Korey and Ivana win. Pepper the Cat September 6, 2017 Share September 6, 2017 I felt so sorry for Bert during that challenge. I would have been out after about one minute. But I am not sorry to seem them go. I am still cheering for Sam and Dave and the Giffers Link to comment
aemom September 6, 2017 Share September 6, 2017 I don't know if I would have lasted through the cockroaches, but if it had been spiders instead, I would have had to take a penalty. That Roadblock was evil! Link to comment
buffynut September 6, 2017 Share September 6, 2017 When I saw the preview last week I knew I'd be covering the tv screen for most of that challenge. As it turned out, I couldn't even listen. Once when I flipped back to hear what was going on, it sounded like Bert was having a panic attack, and I couldn't listen to that. For me, just having my head stuck in that box would have been bad enough, nevermind the bugs! I managed to see Sam & Paul on the mat and Bert & Karen at the very end, so at least I know who the finalists are for next week. Still disappointed I missed 25% of the episode last night. I'm also not a fan of the Face Off challenges. Especially when it penalizes a leading team. But maybe that's the goal, to keep the group bunched up. Like everyone taking the same flights to the next destination. I don't have a favourite team leading into the final, but if I had to choose I guess I'd go with Sam & Paul. Link to comment
Rachel RSL September 6, 2017 Share September 6, 2017 How are Sam and Paul so damned good at everything? It's annoying! I mean, good for them and, if they win, they deserve it but it's annoying when you're rooting for another team lol. I'm still firmly rooting for the hosers. I loved how they got pumped up by the kids chanting "Give'r!" (however you spell it - I have no clue either.) I hated every second of that last challenge. If I wanted to watch Fear Factor, I would. But I don't. Loved the art challenge! I'm clearly a geek because I get really excited when they do Canadian history-related things like the Group of 7 or going to Sir John A. MacDonald's house. 1 Link to comment
piequinn35 September 6, 2017 Share September 6, 2017 The preview was all about the boyfriends and Ivana/Corey, did they forget about the hosers. :P The 2 boyfriends are lucky and good at challenges at the same time. :P Link to comment

I wouldn't have been happy even if it had been set up, I want to see teams competing against each other. To have the drama squashed by some pre-leg agreement between teams would have been lame. I'm ok with the final 3 I guess, though the surfers are boring, and I would have preferred last week's eliminated team to have made it. I want Corey and Ivana to win at this point. Link to comment
TVbitch September 7, 2017 Share September 7, 2017 Wow, Corey has really come out of his shell and is quite entertaining. I wonder why they didn't feature him very much in the beginning. Maybe he started out camera shy. I do root for them. But no question, Sam and Paul are the best all rounders and if they win, good on 'em. Poor Bert, he was in full on panic attack, but he still sucked it up. Too bad Karen could not get the count faster, but she was very calming and gracious with him, and it was a fine example to their kids. As for the boys, it's not that they don't deserve to win ... ... I just prefer they come in 2nd or 3rd. :) 1 Link to comment
etagloh September 8, 2017 Share September 8, 2017 I really don't like "vermin" challenges; I'd take a gross-out eating challenge over them any day. It reminded me a bit too much of Fort Boyard, where they love using rats and frogs and snakes and insects. To me, it's not really a TAR thing. Karen and Bert were always the expected team to go, because they've typically managed to turn challenges into drawn-out struggles and this was no exception. They're sort of the opposite of Sam and Paul, who seem to steamroller their way through, especially after a setback. At least we had the alpacas and crokicurl, which were fun. And I've no idea who'll win the whole thing, though I don't really have any favourites I want to win either. Link to comment
kingshearte September 12, 2017 Share September 12, 2017 Oh man, that bug challenge was rough. I said to my husband while we were watching that if it were me in the box, there would be so, so much crying. And then Bert went in the box and it was like witnessing myself in there, and it was borderline traumatic. I don't think I have ever cried watching this show, but I was decidedly teary by the time he got out, and I was legit full-on crying right along with him after it was all over. I do not ever want to watch another challenge like that. And while those two were my least favourite remaining team, I was sorry to see that horror be what took them out. And I have to say that I appreciate Karen's supportiveness through that whole thing on Bert's behalf. She easily could have pointed out that it would be much easier for her to count them accurately if he would stop twitching and flailing. But she recognized that he wasn't doing it voluntarily, that he was legit terrified in there, and didn't snap at him once. It was lovely. But seriously, Amazing Races of all flavours, can we never do that again? 3 Link to comment
