ElectricBoogaloo May 1, 2014 Share May 1, 2014 Pete, Myka, and Artie help Pete's ex-girlfriend track an object that sucks them all into a Telenovela. Promo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2qs0XqWByCc Clip: This was also labeled as a promo for this episode so I'm guessing it's for the B plot: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oGct15FDwb0 Link to comment
EC Amber May 6, 2014 Share May 6, 2014 Stupid product placement. I don't know why it bugs me so much, but there you go. We are stuck with Pete's hair. Dammit. Am I being overly sensitive here, but does it seem like procreation, love etc are the big themes here? I get with it being the final season that would be great things to focus on... but it's making me wary. I just don't want to see roles being forced when the relationship on this show has been one of the best things about the show. Despite being kind of a silly sci-fi show, the interpersonal relationships always seemed very natural and organic. Watching them pull the Spanish was awesome. Even with that cat tail lying over Pete's face. Anyone else catch the tongue flicker?? Heh. Scene chewing goodness. I could have done without the constant trumpet flourish, hair blowing face shaking every time a cufflink changed hands... but I guess they needed some cue for the audience to know that A Change was happening. The hyper-convoluted soap story line was cute... but a soap story line is the laziest writing there is. I guess it was underwhelming. Is there anything better than two Jinks?? I say No! Wrong!! Jinks hooking up at a frat party and using his truth-dar to pick out the gay man at the party. Awesome. Even better is Jinks taking off with the candle and girlish-y laughing as he ran off. This storyline just got better and better. TWIN FIGHT! All in all a fun episode, but it felt a bit like filler. Only two episodes and we get a episode that could have come in any season without doing anything for the season arc or ending the show. So Claire is gone, Valda is back (finally) and.. <sigh and cringe> Pete loves Myka. Ah well. Link to comment
merylinkid May 6, 2014 Share May 6, 2014 Well that was a waste of an episode. I don't speak Spanish so most of the show was incomprehensible to me. I do not want to have to read my tv when watching it. No Pete is not in love with Myka nor is Myka in love with him. They are friends who care for each -- and THAT. IS. IT. Do not do this to me with so few epsisodes left. Claudia and Jinx's case was hilarious. See Jinx can be funny. He just needs to let that guy out more often. Just as an aside, I think if you go to work for the Warehouse, they should pay off your student loans. I mean with the threat of getting whammied and DYING, it is the least they can do. ishcabibble May 6, 2014 Share May 6, 2014 (edited) I thought it was kind of fun that with the end near, they gave us one more old-school style episode. And although it should have gotten annoying, Mr. ishcabibble and I laughed harder with each trumpet and wind transition sequence! Edited May 6, 2014 by ishcabibble 2 Link to comment
ramble May 6, 2014 Share May 6, 2014 No Pete is not in love with Myka nor is Myka in love with him. They are friends who care for each -- and THAT. IS. IT. This. This, this, this! I want the telenovela reveal of the fact that they're brother & sister to be the way it's handled. Close friends. Caring friends. No in love. No, just no. Mr. ishcabibble and I laughed harder with each trumpet and wind transition sequence!I was laughing too. Mainly because it seemed like the actors were enjoying themselves as they let their lips shake & quake in the wind. Silly fun. It was a bittersweet reminder of all the silly fun mixed in with the storytelling that will soon be gone. *sniffle*I love Jinks & bonus we got two. I almost wish they could've stuck around, but I like mushed together Jinks the best. The twin fight was awesome. 2 Link to comment
Jediknight May 6, 2014 Share May 6, 2014 That was pure fun. Much like Psych, I'm going to miss a show where it's obvious that the cast has so much fun. All 5 main actors were clearly having a blast in this episode, and there's just so much comedic chemistry between the actors. 2 Link to comment
Grammaeryn May 6, 2014 Share May 6, 2014 I loved this one so much, I've watched it twice! Cheesy goodness. I'm not a native Spanish speaker but I think the weakest pronunciation was Joanne. Saul's Spanish was surprisingly good Fabulous Steve needs to come out and play before the show ends. What a missed opportunity to snag Shawn to be one of the twins... 2 Link to comment
futurechemist May 7, 2014 Share May 7, 2014 (edited) I thought the episode was pretty entertaining. The telenovela may not have been quite as good as "Don't Hate the Player" but it was much more enjoyable than "The Big Snag". 1 nitpick, there doesn't seems to be consistency about what happens when an artifact is destroyed. Artie broke the brooch and everyone was immediately returned to reality. Claire burned the music box and is trapped forever. I would have been a bit more entertained by Claudia and Steve's story if it didn't use such broad stereotypes. Frats are all about partying 24-7! Steve acts so aloof because he doesn't want to show is hyper-effeminate side! I'm a gay man and I was kind of insulted by twin-Steve. I like that he's not stereotypical and I'm sure there was a better way to show Steve letting loose and partying than the episode did Though the show does keep tickling me with the exact artifacts they choose. Bob Dylan's bus transfer? Volta's biscuit box? Harvey Korman's cufflinks? So random! Edited May 7, 2014 by futurechemist 2 Link to comment
shapeshifter May 7, 2014 Share May 7, 2014 (edited) I would have been a bit more entertained by Claudia and Steve's story if it didn't use such broad stereotypes. Frats are all about partying 24-7!Actually, Steve said his frat was not a party frat--that all they did was have book club and...what was the other wholesome thing? I noticed because my youngest daughter joined a service sorority that raised money for charity and tutored struggling students, but her sisters kept insisting that was just a cover story for partying. So I was glad Jinxsy's frat was not a party frat. BTW, youngest daughter now works in social service and does additional literacy volunteering.I don't mind the end-of-series OTPing. I don't love it either. They just better muster up some chemistry between the two of them if that's the endgame, 'cause I'm not seeing it yet. ETA: The enchanted telenovela artifact scenario was very original and fun, but it got a little boring after a bit. It could have been a shorter segment. But I guess they were employing the classic storytelling and comedy device of repetition. You know, like Goldilocks and the Three Bears: First the chairs, then the porridge, then the beds. I did like the cufflinks device too. Edited May 7, 2014 by shapeshifter Link to comment

Grammaeryn May 8, 2014 Share May 8, 2014 Eddie did a fun little throwaway joke when Artie was explaining Harvey Korman's cufflinks - he pulled on his left ear. Which was something Carol did in her show as a sign to her grandmother. I don't think any young uns would have caught Eddie's ear tug... 6 Link to comment
Lawgiver May 17, 2014 Share May 17, 2014 My favorite part of the cufflink transition was when Pete's mustache blew in the wind. Hilarious! 4 Link to comment
johntfs May 22, 2014 Share May 22, 2014 I thought it was interesting that "work Steve" wasn't all that different from regular Steve. I took that to mean that Steve tends to suppress his fun, gay-as-happy side to the point that when it did come out (of the closet) it expressed itself in an over-the-top, sterotypical way. I admit to enjoying Claudia's reaction as much as the actual situation. Her "Do it again! Do it again!" was adorable. Link to comment
