S05.E23: Lian Yu

All very well reasoned thoughts.  

We do have had confirmation the door was left open for them to explore Helix and Cayden James in season six but so far, there's been nothing to tie Chase to Helix.  Marc Guggenheim specifically addressed the explosion in the bunker and confirmed that Chase WAS there and Helix had nothing to do with the explosion.  I too thought that Helix had double-crossed Felicity but nope, they kept their end of the bargain.  

I still wouldn't be shocked if we found out Helix had ties to Chase in how he dug up info and created a fake ID, but that's not the info coming from the show runners currently.  They could always change their minds, but I don't think they intended for there to be a connection after all.  Even if it makes sense.

Anyone that was convicted while he was DA could get the case opened or tossed but Diggle was exonerated with proof that the General was the guilty party.  I don't think it actually ever went to trial but either way, they still proved Diggle was innocent even if later his lawyer turned out to be a serial killer and a fraud.  So Dig should be perfectly safe.  Well, from that.  I'm sure they'll have something new to create angst over in season six.  :)  (Assuming he even lives on after the island explodes, lol)

Okay, good.  I was worried about that.  I kept expecting them to bring it up, but no.  They just kept me suffering in my fears.

I was so super convinced that Helix had been behind the explosion the I was actually the one that asked MG to confirm what I thought for those that were confused but nope, I was the one wrong, lol.

523 (Lian Yu) – Oliver asks Slade Wilson AKA Deathstroke for help and breaks him out of A.R.G.U.S. prison on Lian Yu:
Slade: "Would you like to explain what's going on?"
Oliver: "I'd like to talk about you for a minute. You seem -"
Slade: "What, in possession of all my marbles? The mirakuru wore off a long time ago, kid. I mean, I remember everything that happened. I'm not trying to escape that, but it feels like some bad dream. Now, regardless of my sanity, why do you want to help me after everything I've done?"
Oliver: "There is a man here on the island named Adrian Chase. He's holding my friends and my family hostage, including Thea... and my son."
Slade: "Since when do you have a son?"
Oliver: "Slade, are you gonna help me or not?"
Slade: "I think I'm stating the obvious when I say, I killed your mother, and for that alone, you should have killed me."
Oliver: "Maybe what's happening now is the reason I didn't. This is all the Intel that I've been able to gather on your son Joe, including his present whereabouts."
Slade: "Are you offering to help me find my son?"
Oliver: "I want us to find both of our sons."
Slade: "You and me, kid, like old times."

523 (Lian Yu) – Oliver, accompanied by Slade and Digger Harkness AKA Captain Boomerang, rescue Felicity, Thea, Curtis and Samantha Clayton, who are locked up in wooden cages:
Felicity: "Oliver!"
Slade: "Keep your voice down."
Thea (looking at Slade): "What the hell is he doing here?"
Oliver (approaching Samantha's cage): "Where's William?"
Samantha: "I don't know. We were separated. Oliver, what is going on?"
Slade: "Why are they unguarded?"
Digger: "Seems pretty obvious to me, mate.
(Talia al Ghul and Evelyn Sharp drop out of the trees and aim arrows at them.)
Digger: "It's a trap."
Talia: "Don't even think it, Oliver. Or your son loses his mother."
Digger: "Oh, and don't worry about that gun, mate. Chase gave me this nice new gun. (Pulls out gun and points it at Slade) Along with a better offer."
Evelyn (to Slade): "Chase said it would be pointless to reach out to you."
Talia: "Although, given this turn of events, perhaps you've changed your mind."
Digger: "What's it going to be, Slade? Care to side with the winners?"
*  *  *
Digger: "What's it gonna be, mate? Put a gun to his head!"
Slade: "Sorry, kid. But there's no giving up to these guys."
Digger: "I assumed you'd want to be on the winning side."
Slade: "Assumption is the mother of all failures." (Punches Digger)
(Oliver takes down Evelyn. Talia shoots an arrow at Samantha, but Oliver knocks it away with another arrow. Malcolm and Nyssa al Ghul approach with their bows drawn.)
Nyssa: "Sister!"
(Talia throws down an explosive smoke device, and she and Digger escape.)
*  *  *
(The prisoners are freed from their cages.)
Malcolm (to Thea): "You okay?"
Thea: "Go to hell."
Malcolm: "I'll take that as a 'yes.'"
Slade (locking up Evelyn): "You got left behind. You should choose your friends more wisely."
Oliver: "Where is everyone else?"
Curtis: "Not sure. Chase split us up into groups when we got here."
Felicity (pointing at Slade): "We are going to talk about that, right?"
Oliver: "Yes, we are going to talk about that. Right now, we need to focus on finding the others. (To Evelyn) Where are they?"
Evelyn: "I wish I knew. So I could tell you to screw yourselves."
Malcolm: "Why did Chase split up all the hostages?"
Evelyn: "Why does Chase do anything? So far, he hasn't laid out a single hoop that you couldn't keep yourself from jumping through. Maybe leaving me here was part of the plan."
Oliver: "How did Chase get you here?"
Felicity: "A plane."
Oliver: "Do you think you could find your way back to it?"
Curtis: "Yeah. Probably. But -"
Oliver: "Malcolm, can you fly a plane?"
Malcolm: "If it's anything like the three Gulfstreams I used to have? Yes."
Oliver: "Get them to the mainland and then come right back for us."
Felicity: "We are not leaving you here!"
Oliver: "I need to focus and that means getting you out of harm's way. (To Evelyn) And despite my better instincts, when this is all over, I will come back for you."
Evelyn: "When this is all over, you'll be dead."
*  *  *
Nyssa: "My sister and Harkness fled into the forest, but I can track them."
Slade: "They might lead us to the rest of the hostages."
Felicity: "They're our friends, and we don't need your help."
Slade: "I see you haven't lost your feistiness, Ms. Smoak."
Oliver (to Malcolm): "Get them to the plane and make sure that everyone stays safe."
(Malcolm nods.)
Oliver (handing devices to Curtis): "Comms. Just in case something goes wrong."
Curtis: "You mean when, right?"
Oliver (handing tablet to Felicity): "The details highlight the imagery of the island. Again. Just in case."
(Felicity puts her hand on Oliver's neck and reaches up to kiss him.)
Oliver: "What was that for?"
Felicity: "Just in case."
Oliver: "We're going to make it through this."
Felicity: "You can't know that for sure. I didn't want to regret not kissing you. When it comes to the two of us, I regret enough as it is."
Oliver (smiling): "Let's talk more about this when we're off the island."
(Felicity nods, and they hug.)
Oliver: "You all keep each other safe."
(Felicity touches his arm and then leaves with Curtis, Thea and Malcolm.)

523 (Lian Yu) - Black Siren and two minions escort hand-cuffed Quentin and Diggle into a temple on Lian Yu:
Quentin: "Nice place. This island got a Big Belly Burger, too?"
Black Siren: "Before the Chinese turned Lian Yu into a prison, it was a holy retreat."
Diggle: "And now you're using it for payback for a guy you barely know on a guy you barely know."
Black Siren: "Chase freed me. I don't owe Oliver Queen a thing."
(Rene and Dinah are manacled to chains attached to the floor.)
Dinah: "John!"
Diggle: "Hey."
Rene: "Hoss, you okay?"
Quentin: "Rene."
Black Siren: "Okay, everyone. Calm down. The four of you are gonna have plenty of time to catch up. See you later." (Leaves)
Diggle: "I'm assuming that you tried your sonic scream."
Dinah (indicating device on wall): "Sonic dampener. I can't even whistle."
Diggle: "Don't worry. Oliver will get us out of this."
Quentin: "Yeah? What makes you think he even knows where we are?"

523 (Lian Yu) - DELETED SCENE: Black Siren deliberately injures Rene:
(They look at the sonic dampener device that’s attached to the upper beam of the wall.)
Diggle: "We've got to take off that dampener."
Rene: "Yeah. Why didn't I think of that?"
Dinah: "What about one of us faking being sick? Draw in one of the goon squad. Take him out."
Quentin: "Yeah. That could work, assuming any of these guys gives half a damn about any of us being in pain."
Rene: "Yeah, well, I'm not volunteering. I'm a lousy actor."
Black Siren (entering, with two armed minions): "I can help you with that." (Throws a knife into Rene's shoulder)
Rene (groaning): "Aaargh!!"
Quentin: "Rene!"
Black Siren: "Wow. Not bad. You almost had me convinced." 
(She walks over and pulls knife out of Rene, causing him to groan even more.)
Black Siren: "Better. Now no one is leaving until this is over. And the only person who gets to make that decision is Chase."
Diggle: "Laurel Lance [unintelligible words] would be disgusted by you."
Black Siren: "Well, she's not here because she got herself killed, and that - that makes me disgusted. If you even think about trying to escape, Chase will hurt the boy. And I don't think any of you want that on your conscience."

523 (Lian Yu) – Felicity and Samantha have an awkward conversation:
Samantha: "There's something I need to tell you."
Felicity: "Can we save the horribly awkward conversation for when we're off this island?"
Samantha: "No. That's what I need to say. When we get to the airplane, I'm not going to get on it."
Felicity: "What?"
Samantha: "I'm not leaving William behind."
Felicity: "Oliver will bring him back."
Samantha: "I know. But I can't abandon my son."
Felicity: "You know, for what it's worth, I wasn't in favor of sending William away. Not that I was consulted."
Samantha: "Is that why you two broke up? I'm sorry, I just - I saw that you're not wearing your engagement ring. You know."
Felicity: "Yeah. No, it was just - it's complicated."
Samantha: "I saw that kiss you gave him. It doesn't seem that complicated to me."

523 (Lian Yu) – While Felicity, Samantha, Curtis, Thea and Malcolm are walking to the plane, Thea steps on a land mine but is saved by Malcolm:
Thea: "We are nothing to each other, don't you understand that?" (Stops in place)
Curtis: "Thea? You okay?"
Malcolm: "No, she's not. She just activated a land mine."
*  *  *
Malcolm: "Don't move. The trigger's rusted over."
Thea: "That's good, right? That's a good sign?"
Curtis: "No, that's really bad news. It means we can't disarm it."
Samantha: "Well, someone needs to do something."
Malcolm: "Thea, on the count of three, take your foot off the mine."
Felicity: "No! That'll blow us all up."
Malcolm: "I'm going to take her place."
Samantha: "That's crazy."
Felicity: "Yeah. You're not the first one to call him that."
Curtis: "I'll just find a boulder around here or something."
Malcolm: "No! We don't have that kind of time."
Thea: "Okay, no one is doing this, okay?"
Malcolm: "Okay, okay, it's alright. Alright. (Laughs) I forgot how stubborn you can be." (Pushes Thea off the land mine and takes her place) 
Felicity: "Oh, my God!"
Malcolm: "Thank you for reminding me."
Thea: "What the hell are you doing?"
Malcolm: "I'm going to take care of them, disarm the mine, and I'll catch up to you."
Felicity: "Yeah. How are you going to do that with one foot planted on the -"
Thea: "He's not going to. No, okay, if you think you need to prove something to me, you don't, okay? You've proved it."
Malcolm: "I'm not trying to prove anything. From the moment you were born, all I ever wanted was to protect you."
Thea: "You don't have to. I didn't ask for you to!"
Malcolm: "A child doesn't have to ask."
Thea: "Don't do this, okay?"
Malcolm: "You may not think of me as your father, Thea. But you'll always be my daughter."

523 (Lian Yu) - Slade betrays Oliver (or so we think):
(Slade punches out Oliver, just as Black Siren and her minions approach.)
Slade: "Tell Mr. Chase I have a gift for him."
*  *  *
Diggle: "Oliver."
Black Siren: "Don't blame me. Mr. Wilson's the one who gets credit for this trophy."
Diggle: "Slade, you son of a bitch."
Oliver: "I never should have trusted you."
Quentin: "Are you all right?"
Oliver: "Where's my son?"
Diggle: "William? Chase took him, too?"
Dinah: "We didn't know anyone else was here."
Quentin: "Okay. What makes you think he's here?"
Oliver: "He took Samantha, showed me a video of William. He is on this island somewhere, and we need to find him!"

523 (Lian Yu) – Felicity and Thea have a heart-to-heart talk after Malcolm sacrifices himself for Thea:
Felicity: "I'd ask if you were okay, but I don't see how you possibly could be."
Thea: "Honestly, I don't even know how I feel right now. Twenty-four hours ago, I couldn't even think of Malcolm without wanting to scream. And now - now I miss him. Is this insane? I -"
Felicity: "It's not insane. He's your father."
Thea: "He manipulated me. He lied to me. He - he got me to kill my friend's sister. How can you miss somebody that you've hated so much."
Felicity: "Yeah. I have some experience with evil dads too. My father abandoned me, lied to me, and then took a bullet for me, saving my life. Malcolm's not a good person, and he was even a worse father, but in a way, he loved you. Today he proved that."
Thea: "I don't know. It's like today I got to see the father he could've been, but he'll never get to be, because he's gone."
(They hug.)
Curtis (running up): "De plane, boss! De plane! Reference too dated?"

523 (Lian Yu) – Curtis and Felicity discover that the entire island is rigged with a network of explosives:
Samantha: "Who's going to fly the plane, now?"
Felicity: "Oh, don't worry. Between Curtis and I, we have over 500 points of IQ, so we'll probably be able to figure it out."
Thea: "No."
Felicity: "Oh, thanks for the vote of confidence."
Thea: "No, it's not that."
(Curtis is uncovering some kind of electronic board with antennas buried in the ground.)
Samantha: "Are those antennas?"
Thea: "Yep. And that's C4."
Curtis: "This is way too many antennas for a remote trigger. It must be networked."
Thea: "Great. So there's more than one."
Felicity (looking at her tablet): "Yeah, you could say that."
Thea: "Like, there's hundreds."
Curtis: "Way too many to defuse."

523 (Lian Yu) - Oliver gives Dinah the new sonic collar, and they escape:
Oliver: "All right. Let's get out of here."
Quentin: "Ahem. I think Wilson did something to your head when he knocked you out."
Oliver: "Curtis worked this up for Dinah. It's gonna control your Canary Cry, but it's also gonna bypass the sonic dampener." (Hands her the metal collar)
Dinah: "Oh, I love that Curtis! (Puts on collar) This may hurt a bit."
Rene: "Just sing, Canary."
Quentin: "Actually, it's Black Canary."
(Dinah directs her sonic scream at the manacles chaining them.)

523 (Lian Yu) – E2 Laurel Lance AKA Black Siren and Dinah Drake AKA Black Canary fight:
(They both use their metahuman sonic screams and blow the other backwards.)
Black Siren: "You thought that you could replace me? That's cute."
(Quentin knocks Black Siren out with a wood plank.)
Dinah: "You didn't have to do that."
Quentin: "Oh, I did. For so many reasons."

523 (Lian Yu) – Thea takes charge of her group:
Curtis (over comms): "Oliver! Do you copy?"
Samantha: "Are you sure you can't defuse these bombs?"
Felicity: "Well, I can... with my equipment back in Star City. But with this teeny tiny little tablet, all I can do is try to locate the trigger."
Thea: "Okay, but you can try, right?"
Felicity: "Yeah, I can try."
Thea: "Okay, good. You do that. And Curtis, you work on the comms, okay?"
Curtis: "How?" 
Thea: "I don't know. You - you're a genius, right? You both are. So we need you to do this, so you guys just both gotta do this right now."
(Felicity and Curtis look at each other.)

523 (Lian Yu) – Felicity tells Oliver about the island being rigged with explosives:
Felicity (over comms): "Oliver. Oliver, do you copy?"
Oliver (over comms): "Felicity."
Felicity (over comms): "You can't kill Chase. Did you hear me?"
Oliver (over comms): "What are you talking about?"
Felicity (over comms): "He's rigged the entire island with explosives. They're remotely linked to some kind of dead man's switch. If he dies, it detonates all the devices. He wants you to kill him, so it kills all of us."
(Chase throws down explosive smoke device and escapes.)
Felicity (over comms): "Oliver! Oliver, are you okay?"
Oliver (over comms): "It's okay. I'm fine. (To Diggle) John, you need to get to the plane and make sure everyone's safe. Felicity can talk you in."
Diggle: "What the hell's going on?"
Oliver: "Chase has put explosive charges all over the island. You need to get to the plane, and you leave when you get there."
Rene: "What are you going to be doing?"
Oliver: "I'm going after my son."
Quentin: "What if Chase is telling the truth."
Oliver: "I don't believe him. I can't believe him. But either way, Adrian Chase is not getting off this island."

523 (Lian Yu) – Oliver's friends discover that the plane was sabotaged:
Diggle: "I can't start the engine."
Curtis: "John's right. There's definitely something wrong."
Dinah: "With the plane or the pilot, no offense?"
Diggle: "None taken. I'm no ace, but I know how to start a plane. Whatever this was, it's not pilot error."
Slade: "Either way, we're not going anywhere without Oliver. Or his son."
Nyssa: "Actually, we're not going anywhere at all. I found this 10 feet from the wing."
Felicity: "Please don't tell me that's what I think it is."
Curtis: "It depends on if you think that's an on-wing hydraulic system."
Dinah: "Can we repair it?"
Thea: "With what tools?"
Quentin: "So we're stuck here, is that what you're saying?"
Diggle: "Tell Oliver. Now."
Felicity (over comms): "Oliver, do you copy?"
Oliver (over comms): "I'm here."
Felicity (over comms): "Chase sabotaged the plane. We can't get off the island."
Oliver (over comms): "There's an A.R.G.U.S. supply ship on the eastern shore."
Felicity (over comms): "That's on the other side of the island."
Oliver (over comms): "Slade knows where it is. Go now!"

523 (Lian Yu) – Adrian Chase kills himself, detonating explosives all over the island:
Chase: "You won. Your son has his father back, and he learned exactly who his father was. Like you learned who your father was, right here, on these very same waters."
Oliver: "Was?"
Chase: "William's younger than you were, so he's going to be fine. And you have each other."
Oliver: "What are you saying?"
Chase: "Which is good. Oliver, that's good. Because it's going to be lonely. Without mom. And Felicity." (Puts gun to head)
Oliver: "No, Adrian!"
(Chase shoots himself in the head. Explosives detonate all over the island.)
