It looked more like a dive roll than a somersault.  Except that Graham seemed to be doing a somersault.

Out here, roly polies are those little bugs that roll up (technically wood lice).

Huh. I didn't know that. You made me google woodlouse. According to Wikipedia, most woodlice can't roll up in a ball. The site has a list of names from around the world:
