So, the goat cheese wasn't earthy? The only goat cheese I've liked is what is served in restaurants. When I've bought it myself, it's always been so earthy 🙁. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/51201-trader-joes/page/9/#findComment-8110219

annzeepark914 January 6, 2024 Share January 6, 2024 I invited a friend over for coffee today. Served slices of the little cinnamon coffee cake with whipped cream & berries. Plus, I "baked" those frozen almond croissants (you put them out the night before & by morning, they're really big & you bake them). Dusted all with powdered sugar. So for someone who didn't feel like baking? It was very tasty and we enjoyed our treats. Thanks, Joe 😊 3 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/51201-trader-joes/page/9/#findComment-8257169
Ancaster August 7, 2024 Share August 7, 2024 Sesame Sticks - "Crunchy wheat snacks with sesame seeds". These have to be bad for you, but they're bloody delicious if you like savoury little nuggets of salty, crunchy bliss. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/51201-trader-joes/page/9/#findComment-8429384
EtheltoTillie December 29, 2024 Share December 29, 2024 Have I got a great Trader Joe's story. Also a NYC subway story. Last Thursday, I was riding the subway to work and a young man next to me got on with a TJ's bag. He had two packages of frozen tempura shrimp peeking out of his bag, and I asked him if they were any good, and he said yes. I said, Oh I never go to TJ's, so he just pulls out one box and handed it to me! A Christmas present. I said I would pay it forward, as I had no foodstuffs to exchange. What a nice gesture. I haven't tried them yet-- I put them in the freezer. 1 9 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/51201-trader-joes/page/9/#findComment-8542220
Bastet December 29, 2024 Share December 29, 2024 They're probably good -- I don't shop at TJ's other than for select items (love their extra hot salsa) because it has too many frozen items and too few fresh ingredients for how I cook/eat, but whenever I've had one of those frozen items at a non-cooking friend's house, they've always been good. 1 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/51201-trader-joes/page/9/#findComment-8542226
isalicat December 29, 2024 Share December 29, 2024 If you are feeling too lazy to cook and like curries (and don't have a good Indian takeaway nearby), Trader Joe's frozen lamb and chicken curries are actually the best I've had in terms of pre-prepared Indian food. I always keep some packages in my freezer for those "I just can't bear to cook anything" nights. 2 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/51201-trader-joes/page/9/#findComment-8542330

So takeout is our easier option. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/51201-trader-joes/page/9/#findComment-8542357

Ancaster January 6 Share January 6 (edited) I tried the Greek chickpeas in parsley and cumin that people were talking about a while ago. Frankly I found them way too oily, but I like the concept, and will probably have a go at making them myself at some point. That way, I can also use olive oil instead of soybean oil, and fresh lemon juice instead of concentrate, which tastes kind of fake to me. I confess I have not heard about these chickpeas. 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/51201-trader-joes/page/9/#findComment-8548856

I imagine it's more efficient and cheaper for manufacturers of things like canned chickpeas in dressing to use concentrate and that they get it from an outside source (due to convenience, lower freight costs, etc). Just conjecturing though. In terms of individual consumers, I would never use it, but there must be lots of people who don't have access to fresh lemons and others who care more about convenience (and cost) than taste, or don't notice a difference in taste. Who knows though really. 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/51201-trader-joes/page/9/#findComment-8549651
