Capricasix August 8, 2016 Share August 8, 2016 Let's talk about everyone's favourite (well, at least my favourite) beer-guzzlin', cigarette-smokin', pill-poppin', monster-huntin' chief! 2 Link to comment
Kalliste August 10, 2016 Share August 10, 2016 I liked him much more than expected. That first scene of him hungover on the couch I thought 'oh great, a typical hick sheriff.. this guy is going to be a douche' and then he was actually pretty awesome. 4 Link to comment

I think he was a very compelling character and Harbour did a great job playing the role. 2 Link to comment
methodwriter85 September 7, 2016 Share September 7, 2016 I liked that they allowed him to be smart, and not just a caricature. David is a great "hey, it's that guy." 2 Link to comment
Danny Franks September 8, 2016 Share September 8, 2016 I did say "hey, it's that guy" when he first came on screen. I really liked David Harbour in The Newsroom and various other TV shows and movies. He has a really solid presence, and just seems to have this innate trustworthiness and decency. That's why I didn't dismiss him as an alcoholic deadbeat, I immediately knew that there's no way they'd hire this guy just to play the useless cop who gets in the way of the intrepid kids. The vibe I got was of Bruce Willis in The Last Boy Scout, a guy who has been beaten down so much that he's so close to defeat, but he just needs the right push to completely turn it around. And I really respect how open Harbour was in the Reddit AMA he did, talking about personal issues he's had regarding self esteem and depression. He also seems so happy about the success of the show and the opportunities it's bringing him. 5 Link to comment
wanderingstar November 4, 2017 Share November 4, 2017 I've liked David Harbour since his handful of appearances in the Law and Order franchise, so I'm happy for his success on this show. Link to comment
MisterGlass November 5, 2017 Share November 5, 2017 I'd noticed him in a couple of things, but he is really good in this. He's a great anchor. I'm sure that this is what got him Hellboy, and I hope he succeeds there too. Link to comment
VCRTracking November 24, 2017 Share November 24, 2017 He was also in Brokeback Mountain as (his words) the "third gay cowboy in a two-gay cowboy movie"! 1 Link to comment

Spartan Girl July 16, 2019 Share July 16, 2019 Okay, this is driving me crazy but I swear the shirt Hopper wore most of this season was the same one John Belushi wore for a magazine! Link to comment
bijoux July 26, 2022 Share July 26, 2022 Season 4 really emphasized what a good cop Hopper is. He was preactically semi-functional in season 1 and he was still doing his job admirably, being inquistive, suspicious, asking the right questions. Powell, while less cartoony of his two deputies, really can't hold a candle to him as Chief. As frustrated as she was with him, I think Flo would be relieved to have him back in charge. 1 1 Link to comment
