All Episodes Talk: In The Honeymoon Period

Recommended Posts

Yay we got a forum! I wonder how long the talking heads we're after the wedding because Emma looks different with the bleach blond hair and also looks a little heavier. She looked much prettier with her hair color like it was at the wedding. I was engaged at 19 and married at 21 and now 12 years later I wonder if I was really ready to make such a decision. The ones who seem least in love with each other are Emna and Joe, even though in the talking head she called him her Prince Charming.

Let me see if I can remember the couples --- the Mormons where she is moving to Utah, the guy who works at the seed store (married to Emma?), and the guy in college marrying the gal from Coachella Valley. Uh.... for names.... Yeah, I don't know them. I'm wondering about all of these couples, who don't seem to have much life experience in anything, and how they're going to learn to budget, argue, compromise, share, set goals, etc.  Then again, there's a lot of 30 year olds who don't know how to do those things either, so there you have it. I wish them all luck, but I worry that their marriages were just "yay! we can have sex!"

Ok, just watched the 2nd episode. It was awkward when Hailie and I can't think of his name were in their hotel room giggling and asking each other if the other was ready. I wish they wouldn't have filmed in their room and let them have their own moment. It was also super weird the next day at their parents house when the whole family was giggling like " we know what you did" and her parents were in the kitchen talking about asking him. My assumption was that the mom wanted the dad to ask the groom if they had had sex which is super creepy and crossing a boundary that shouldn't be crossed.

Both Emma and Joey look really different in their interviews...like they were filmed months afterwards.  I almost wonder if she gets pregnant because she does look a bit heavier, as does he.  Or maybe it's just them living on their own for the first time, like the Freshman 15.  The bleach blonde hair looks awful...it was much prettier at the wedding.

Halie makes me sad.  She's so young and seems to have a great family that she's very close to.  Was their any explanation of why George couldn't move there?

The California couple is actually the one I'm most worried about.  They are sooo different and I dont' see any connection or chemistry between them.

I wonder why there's an All Episodes thread and individual episode threads?  I think a one "All Episodes" is better for a show like this.

Emma looks soooo much better with the darker hair.  That bleach blonde looks awful on her.  She's going to have her hands full with her husband.  Seems very lazy and immature.

Halie is such a pretty girl, but that loud constant laughing is starting to drive me nuts.  I get it's nervous laughter, but simmer it down sugar.  George has old man eyes.

The other couple, some can make it with those differences, some can't.  But what the hell was she saying about being a virgin? "I lost my virginity at 15 to a boy I really liked and I thought he was going to marry me..."  Who thinks that at 15?  Who thinks, "this boy is going to marry me!"  I think with losing your virginity, you're just hoping the boy will call the next day, take you on another date, maybe possibly be your boyfriend and hopefully won't tell all his friends.  Not get married.

The California couple is doomed. Their political differences are "cute" right now while they can't keep their hands off each other, but after the thrill of finally having sex wears off, that is going to become a major source of irritation and fighting. Fundamental differences in how you see the world are difficult things to navigate in a relationship - as much as having different religions or not agreeing on whether or not to have kids.

Halie's parents seem to be way too attached to her. It was a bit creepy. It went beyond aw, I'm sad my daughter won't be close anymore.

I'm guessing George has a job? I forgot how they met.

They are doing everything they can to keep her from escaping because their very unfortunate looking, awkward, virgin son will never ever be able to attract another mate.

I understand that Hailie was sad to leave her family and her family was sad to see her leave.  That said, I thought it was pretty low of the mom to be crying and telling Hailie how sad she was about her moving away.  When your child is upset about something legitimate, it is not the parents' job to dogpile onto the sadness.  I think an appropriate sentence would be along the lines of, "I miss you so much but I'm so proud to see my daughter starting off on her own family" or something.

Agreed. She's just making her feel guilty.

I think that for their marriage it's better she isn't living in the same city as them. BOUNDARIES us something they need to learn.

The mom is making it all about her instead of actually supporting her daughter

Just catching up on this show. Brenda is the cutest thing ever and she seems so sweet. Good luck trying to convert Travis though. I hope they are not pregnant because Brenda seems to have some serious goals and seems determined to succeed. If they are, hopefully she can stay on track.

I like Halie and I can see what her parents mean about saying she's an old soul. However, she is way too young to get married. And they want six kids! She will be pressured to start popping them out soon.

Emma is so weird to me. Like she's disaffected. She never seems to get angry yet she never seems to be genuinely happy. She's a monotone robot. And Emma's parents were right to tell her to read what she signs, but maybe they also should have told her to ask questions when you don't understand what you're signing!

I'm tuned into this train wreck. I don't understand why some--okay all--of these couples got married. It was beyond weird when George was talking about Hailie just graduated from high school. Is she in university? Does she have a job?

Brenda is a peach, and I like her. Those worldview differences are cute now, but eventually I think it might be a problem. Imagine when they have kids and don't agree on the religion or the type of school or anything. Travis...please shut up.

Emma is a monotone robot. Why would you sign something without I don't know..asking questions?

I swear none of these couples talked or planned for anything.

Yes! These things like kids should have already been discussed! Or jobs, or anything. I don't get why they got married either. Emma and Joey were already living together.

My husband and I have a few pretty strong differences. It's fine because we don't make it a competiton like arguing about kids being more like one or the other. They're also not differences on what is the most important to us.

Brenda, dump that loser!! You are a bright star and he is a pile of mud. I foresee Brenda's adorable mother getting fed up with Travis and cussing him out en Espanol.

George and Halie are idiots. I'm sorry to insult children but ughhhh.

I have a soft spot for Joey and Emma, I want them to overcome the stupid decisions they're making now and live happily together.
