While killing time I clicked on Bravo's claim of how Kyle keeps her hair so beautiful (Pantene and oils mixed into a purchased hair mask, and if you believe that, I have some land available for purchase. Needing a few laughs I clicked on the link to other 'wives beauty secrets. The only BHHW on it is YoYo, and surprise surprise, she talks about lemons and inner peace. What?! No mention of hyperbaric chambers, daily colonics, vitamin C injections, etc? Whose "beauty secrets" do you want to know? Who needs to learn a few "secrets"?

I don't buy the Pantene, because I've always been told that it coats hair, which keeps it from getting moisturized.  But I buy the hair mask.  I think Kyle has always taken care of her hair, and she had good healthy hair to start.  When she wears it flat, I think she's just giving it a rest from heated products.  I certainly don't have Kyle's head of hair, but I've colored it for years and occasionally blow dry and/or flat iron it, and I haven't seen a split end in years.  And I've gone a couple of years between hair cuts.

She's blessed with good hair.  Her "tips" on Bravo were brush from the ends (duh) and then she says she puts a secret mask on her hair, her personal concoction, one night a week, and leaves it on either overnight (how sexy for Mauricio) or for an hour or so while sitting under one of the old fashioned hair dryers.  She also says not to wash your hair every day and to pin it up at night.  Groundbreaking.

She doesn't mention what's in her concoction.  I mean, seriously?

There are many different kinds of Pantene, not all contain that silicone people say coats hair.

Although...maybe that mask works, and I'd love to know what is in it, because her old hair?  Not so good.  Ha.  Yeah, I know, 80's.

Didn't you hear? They have Lucy and Ricky beds now.

I don't know Kyle's secret recipe, but having worked in cosmetic chemistry, I can tell you that natural oils are the best thing for your hair and skin. Stick to light oils like avocado, apricot, almond and jojoba. For really thick or coarse hair, you can add a little coconut oil or shea/cocoa butter. There's no need to spend $40 on 2 oz of "Morocan" oil.

ETA because Red's post reminded me: hair masks and deep conditioner should be applied to the end of the hair and work your way up. There's really no need to deep condition the root, especially the bottom layer that never sees the sun, unless it's seen serious damage.

Good to know about Pantene, but I still won't use it.  I used to do the deep conditioning with the hair dryer until my stylist told me to knock it off.  She said my hair didn't need it and was creating build up.  I definitely agree with not washing daily, and while that's not groundbreaking, I know people who insist on shampooing daily.  I personally only wash my hair 2-3 times/week and twist my hair up while it's drying.  It keeps it from frizzing, and my hair's very suggestible, so it creates a lot of body.

I know it sounds gross to shampoo your hair less, but your scalp adjusts by producing less oil, and my color fades slower (red is supposedly the hardest to maintain).    Wonder if anyone's willing to tweet Kyle and ask what her super secret concoction is.  I'm not on twitter or I'd give it a try.

What is up with her "secret" concoction? Is there any particular reason she insists on it staying a secret?? Because if she were a smart business woman, she'd be marketing and selling that "secret" concoction to many an interested buyer, myself included!!

I sincerely hope it's her "secret" for now because she's hoping to market and sell it to the masses. Or perhaps include it in a hair care book she's releasing or something---her hair is sorta her "thing" she's most known for, so it baffles me that she hasn't profited from it yet and started some sort of hair care line of products, or at least snagged a shampoo/hair care line commercial/spokesmodel gig.

I think she's tried with Pantene, as the product has been mentioned in multiple Kyle interviews. A few years ago, Bravo did a one-off about "things that make me happy" featuring the riff and the raff from its various shows  (Kyle represented the HWs, tho I think Vpump would have been more fun.) I remember 2 of Kyle's "happies": her Chanel purse collection and her Pantene hair care. P&G, which owns Pantene, may not want the HWs/reality TV association* or Kyle might be outside the demographic Pantene is targeting but for whatever reason Twirly Splits hasn't landed the endorsement.

Some years ago, when The Apprentice was a hot show, Omarosa landed a gig promoting Clairol Natural Instincts. The public outcry -- crashed the TWoP boards ;) -- was so significant, the company changed its mind about featuring her.

Their secrets make me laugh.  It reminds me of a clairol commercial from the 60's 'Only her hairdresser knows for sure.'

What is their secret? An excellent plastic surgeon who can offer all the bells and whistles. And all the other service people like great hairdresser, waxing/laserin, a,derm, etc.

Women with money who care how they look spend a fortune looking good. This kind of good. Not Midwest looking good. I'm talking big bucks good that when they walk in a room you know they are rich. They could be wearing no jeweler or any hints of designer items.

Ever since I read "full body polish" in the Hunger Games books, that's what I've wanted.  3 people working on me and bringing me to a perfect "beauty base zero."

Of course, these wives do our only available version of that regularly...so...

In the blog that's up, Kyle says she uses a pre-made hair mask and adds her special secrets.  My guess?  Dark Brown #107.  Or something that helps wash the grey away while adding shine.

Watch Kyle's vid and then scroll down and watch Joyce's.  Kyle totally ripped her off!  LOL

LOL Kyle's "secret" is being born to the right parents.  One of my best friends has hair like Kyle. It's thick, shiny, and grows like a damn weed (though she keeps it shoulder length).  She uses Pantene, Dove --- basically the cheapest stuff she can find that's on sale.  She could wash her hair in Dawn dish detergent and it would still be beautiful.  Kyle has the same type of hair, so no "secret oil blend" is giving her that mane.  It's heredity.

100% yes to this. I have hair similar to Kyle's in thickness and volume, I use cheap grocery store products. The only difference is my hair has a bit of curl to it so I have one special product I use when I blow dry it that makes it magically straight and I don't have to flat iron it. It's called liqwd smoothing catalyst and it's fairly expensive but works like magic and lasts a while. I have friends who don't have stupid thick hair and there's nothing I can recommend to them that would make their hair look like mine, and vice versa. I won't ever be able to just throw my hair up into a twist with like, a barrette or something. There's no trick to it. BUT, I do swear, if any of you have wavy hair but want it to be straight and are sick of flat ironing? Get that liqwd stuff. It's super. I am not paid for this or anything. I just seriously recommend it to anyone I can because I feel like it's magic and I want the company to keep existing lol.

Couldn't agree more.  I think that's what Betheny was referring to when she saw a picture of Erika in the Hampton's episode and commented on how expensive her look looked.  Betheny doesn't have that look imo, she's not as polished and obviously-to me- doesn't spend as much time working on herself as Erika does.  Probably because she has a job, a kid and just isn't willing to take time from things she considers more important.
