I'm just really curious about their choice of sets given that this is going to go on for longer than an episode or two. They moved her and Oliver into the loft and they built her an elevated area in the new lair. I don't get the reasoning behind these decisions.

So we can see oliver carry Felicity. That's the only reason I can think of

Maybe they make it up along the way after all. Or maybe DC just gave them the rights to the code name and they adjusted. I however still don't believe that DC comics would allow them to name her Oracle for various reasons.

And when Oliver isn't there to carry her?

Well apparently laurel can carry her dead sister across the city so there's her and then there's diggle. BTW that was just me trying to joke. Apparently it went poorly lol

Tbh there is no sense to the set considering Felicity's condition but that only goes to show that this is temporary which is why they didn't build her paralysis into the set. So yeah

I imagine it has something to do with their limited budget and them not making set decisions for a storyline that is temporary.

Oh, I think the odds of Felicity being Oracle is increasing by the minute.

Titans was officially canceled (although they probably knew it wasn't going to happen for awhile now).

She was shot

She's in a wheelchair

What's funny is that MG swears they only wanted the codename not the backstory.  Now it's like they're doing an abbreviated version of the storyline complete with techmagic cure.  And not giving her the codename?  Plus, y2john said the crew were referring to Felicity as Oracle on set...yeah it doesn't mean that's her actual codename but it certainly seems likely.

I imagine it has something to do with their limited budget and them not making set decisions for a storyline that is temporary.

That could work for the Loft but doesn't explain the brand new set that just got built.

Even with the loft, they could have had Laurel move in with Thea and once again redress the set for Laurel's apartment to make it into Oliver and Felicity's new place.

That thought occurred to me as well, especially since Laurel's apartment is supposed to be a one bed room (wasn't Sara sleeping on the couch?).  It just seems like a very odd choice.

Ah well, it is what it is.  Nothing to do but wait and hope it doesn't go horribly wrong and offensive.

Knowing them there will be at least something offensive going on ;)

But this makes me more sure that Felicity isn't in the grave. They wouldn't kill off the handicapped character. She is already dealing with the wheelchair, killing her would be too much at once... At least I hope that

If Felicity ends up paralyzed as a result of her injuries, what can't they just inject her with Ray Palmer's magic nanites? Problem solved.

And since I was thinking about the magic nanites, why can't Felicity present those as the salvation of Palmer Technologies? I mean, that would have world-changing ramifications, as well as create an incredible revenue stream for them.

Apologies if this has already been discussed.

Sure it does. Why would they build a set that I assume they're hoping to use for years around the needs for a storyline that's not going to last longer than 8-ish episodes? That makes no sense. If her paralysis winds up being a permanent thing, then I'll question the decision-making regarding the sets.

I don't think MS was officially living with them, just that she's stayed with them when visiting but I can see her sticking around to help care for her after Felicity's injuries.

I have to say I knew the paralysis was coming and yet the first words out of my mouth after seeing her in it was "Crap!"

There is a part of me that is not at all confident that they plan on getting her out of the chair at all. And her getting the name Oracle, if it happens, will only make that concern grow.

The nanites desolved his blood cot. It would be a different thing for them to repair a spinal injury. But yeah, the should have been Ray Palmers next trillion dollar idea. Guess the details for replicating them blew up with The top floor.

At this point I'll be very surprised if her codename isn't Oracle. And also, I kinda think they came up with this storyline after the season started, and the new sets were planned/built. Most likely when DC told them Felicity could have the Oracle arc of Calculator + wheelchair.

Who else missed because comics storylines, asked nobody.

I tend to disagree, even 8 episodes seems excessive when there was absolutely no need for the dais in the first place.  It's not a requirement and most of Felicity's shots when she's at the computer and the group are in the field are close ups, so you couldn't tell she was on a raised platform anyway.  So why design the set with a dais in the first place if they knew going in that they would have to deal with this storyline i?

But it's not really important and it's not a spoiler at this point so I don't want to get in trouble by getting into a circular argument.

That's a good point, they might have changed their plans for Felicity when they got the go ahead to use Oracle and the New Lair was already designed/budgeted/commissioned.

Adding a ramp wouldn't be hard. :(

Felicity zipping between Palmer Tech and the Arrow Lair, that would be a lot harder to imagine Felicity pulling off herself.

I'm not arguing with you at all, I just don't think the dais matters that much. It looks cool, has multiple access points and, what, three stairs? They can easily put a little ramp on one of them so she can get up there.

Well, that wheelchair picture just destroyed what little enthusiasm I had for the show returning, even though I knew it was coming. No interest in seeing Felicity paralyzed for the rest of the show. None. Thanks for giving me everything I didn't want, show. Thanks a lot!

I also think that they had no idea about the wheelchair and paralysis when they built the set.

And, damn it, all this months while you guys were discussing the possibility of a paralysis, after seeing that wheelchair in that video, I was here in my little corner thinking, "they won't ever put her in a wheelchair, no way, why are they even discussing this". Well, thanks a lot, Arrow.

ETA: LOL, @Angel12d, we are grateful for the same things, apparently. :/

You really think they're going to keep their main LI in a wheel chair for another 3.5+ seasons?

I would be really surprised if she isn't in the thing until her big meeting with the PT board. At which point I'm guessing for max dramatic effect she'll either wheel herself in there and then stand up, or walk in to present whatever spine/leg-saving technology she and/or Curtis have come up with (please let it be her, please let it be her).

Yeah, bc otherwise, what's the point.  She'll have a big dramatic moment in front of the board, in which she comes in in a wheelchair and then stands up and walks to them.

Well, I actually meant the rest of the season but I honestly have no clue what they'd do. They do dumb stuff all the time. This is Arrow.

I wonder whether Oliver or Felicity will leave the loft after she dumps him. If Felicity does, that solves the loft set problem not being handicapped accessible from that point on (and before that either Oliver can carry her or they can insert a line about them having moved to a downstairs guest bedroom). She can stay with Digg and Lyla for a couple weeks, or they can use the PT lab set as an exec apartment like they did for Ray.

It's really not a big deal to build a wheelchair ramp for a couple steps. I could do it in an hour or so.

So she is going to be in a wheelchair, and then evil daddy will return, and then she'll find out Oliver's a lying liar, while she's still in the wheelchair. So yeah, they are dumping on Felicity.

Yeah cause apparently they can't get enough of beating Felicity down. And Felicity still won't get sympathy from some people even though she's in the right to dump his ass and make him grovel for Lying to her

The way this is shaping up I'm starting to think they are just transferring the 'crap load of terrible things happening to Oliver' in the second half of the season to Felicity instead. I never really thought it would it be Mama Smoak in the grave, but if they follow the same formula for Felicity it might be. Complete with her storyline being lifted straight from another comic book character (last year Oliver/Batman vs R'as and this year Felicity/Oracle).

Ugh, such lazy writing. I don't understand why these writers can't create drama for their characters sans the misery!porn

AND if they can saddle a comic book destiny on Felicity that belongs to another well-known DC character, why the hell couldn't they do the same for Sara? Why put us through the poorly written and executed LL nonsense?

If they do its lazy writing for sure. About who's in the grave a friend of mine speculated that it could be Mama Smoak in the grave. He elaborated that Felicity is the only main cast member who hasn't lost or "Lost" a true loved one yet. And with these writers it could be her turn.

She won't make him grovel. She's not like that. She'll just tell him she's done with their relationship. Groveling is basically apologizing in an obsequious way, and she'd never want that from him. I even think she'll forgive him pretty quickly. She's very forgiving and understanding, especially with him. The problem will be trust. How can she trust him again?

It sounds like there's a good chance the secret second family thing will come out in the debate, but if it doesn't, I'd like to see him tell the rest of the team about the kid, voluntarily. Also, I want him not to let her walk away, which in the past he's always done. He's never really prioritized her, so I'd like to see him do that, and tell her and SHOW her that he's not giving up on them, that finally, this time, he's not just watching her walk away, but instead he'll put in the actual hard work to SHOW her how much he's changed, through deeds, not just words. If that happens, if this stupid secrets and lies BS is not repeated in the future, if BM and Spawn stay the hell off my tv screen, and if Felicity isn't somehow framed as the bad guy in all this, I might be able to forgive this idiotic storyline. Someday.

They're giving him an opponent? That's annoying. Who's not gonna vote for the nice dude who publicly proposed to his girlfriend at a freaking tree lighting and almost got assassinated with his fiancee? His fiancee is rolling around his campaign functions in a wheelchair and he's (probably) talking about not giving up on his city or some bullshit. How convoluted is this gonna get to pretend that Oliver doesn't have this in the bag?? Who cares about viable candidates anymore? The city is deader than dead anyway.

Felicity in a wheelchair. I hope it's just part of a long recovery that gets magically fixed/shortened with PT/OT, nanites, the Palmer Tech thing she and Curtis pull out of their butts, etc.

Maybe because they want there to be some challenges while Felicity is in the wheelchair? They wanted the set to look like that, and they may have intentionally put some problems in place--or intentionally not solved those problems in advance--that she/the team would have to address once she is injured. To be honest, that's about the extent to which I expect the show to explore the challenges of her being in a wheelchair. That she will have inconveniences and things she feels like she can't do, or places she can't go, etc. (Obviously I agree with the position that this isn't going to last past this season, and I'd put it at resolved by around 420, if I had to guess).

That's why I think the secret second family is going to come out in the debate. A lot of Oliver's popularity will be based Felicity/their relationship/him sticking by her/how much he's changed. So if his opponent brings up, maybe with video, his secret second family in Central City during the debate? That would be a HUGE blow to his campaign, which would be doubled by the fact that it was happening WHILE Felicity was in a wheelchair. Especially if Ruve implies that he's banging Samantha. She wouldn't even really have to do much to imply that, just talk about Oliver visiting his second family, especially if there have been any overnight visits.

To be clear, him visiting them does not require those actors. It just requires a line or two of dialogue. And I agree that him visiting them while the Darhk stuff is going on is an indication that Oliver is unbelievably dumb, but that is pretty consistent of his characterization post-S2.

Unless the writers have forgot (and the odds are good that they have), Dig and Lyla live on the fourth or fifth floor and have no elevator. Felicity mentioned it when she came to visit Dig in S1 to facilitate him and Oliver reconciling. He's still at the same place.

Hey, I didn't remember that, so I can't fault the writers if they don't.

They could just have her say she got a new place/is staying at an exec apartment and not show it.

Am I the only one who thinks that wheelchair looks huge? That's a big wheel and its tall. It didn't even looked like a wheelchair at first glance.

I don't think it would be too difficult to modify the Lair or PT for the chair. The Loft would be a hard if they plan on bedroom scenes. Or they could redecorate the room and say it's a guest room on the first floor. That would make sense given the Queen siblings used to live together, there has to be another room.

They are filming some type of evacuation scene and that would be a challenge with a character in a wheelchair.

I will be pissed if Curtis comes up with the tech that allows her to walk again. I wouldn't be surprised because he seems to be golden, but I would rage.

I wonder if whatever tech heals Felicity also serves a dual purpose. We don't know yet what the gas DD created does, but I wonder if the tech can be modified to combat it.

I have accepted that her name will be Oracle. I think DC gave it to them after Titans fell through. That tells me that they feel Felicity is extremely popular or they honestly aren't as tied to things as we thought. I am curious if this new Powerless show has any impact.

wonder how far apart these 2 photos were shot because her hair is completely different, and did they add extensions to her hair as well?

Maybe it's her body double in the grainy one? There will be an evactuation so it would make sense to use her.

True, there are other solutions. Or they could just have Oliver stay there and babysit Sara while Lyla and Dig are off to hunt down the shark thing on The Flash. And it's actually six flights of stairs. I went to check.

Not that Felicity shouldn't live life normally but isn't it more dangerous for her to go to these events that Darkh could hit when she might need additional help to get out of there...

Not that she shouldn't go but Darkh would have an even easier time spotting her.

I have a hard time seeing Felicity wanting to stay in this place that's only been her home with Oliver after she breaks it off. Oliver lived there with Thea before, so not every memory he would have is with Felicity, but every memory Felicity has there is with Oliver. I mean, who knows, but character-wise I can't see Felicity staying there.

If the death is what brings them back together, I wonder if that affects who it is. I mean, would Quentin or Laurel dying necessarily bring them back together? I guess they could just write it as Felicity deciding life's too short to hold a grudge, but I do think Donna is at least a small possibility, because her death might be the most likely to bring Felicity back to Oliver.

It's funny how you all fume if Curtis comes up with the tech and I just was on the outskirts of a FB debate about Felicity will or better not find her own tech cure. I guess it'll Mary Sue her. I said Curtis is the Mary Sue. Then I joked that Ray or Cisco will make Felicity a power suit. So she can be super hero in the suit and Oracle as Felicity. I said it can always be worse.

Any way I think Curtis will come up with the idea and basics of the tech cure but Felicity will find the way to make it work and safe to test on herself.

I could get behind this Felicity in the WC storyline if they weren't doing BM drama as well. This misery just isn't going to be fun to watch.

I'm fine with Felicity and Curtis working on it together. I just don't want Felicity dealing with her father and Olivers BM and then Curtis just waltzes in with Tech that heals her and saves the company.

Curtis is a Marty Stu but, that never gets acknowledge because he's a guy.

I'm of the opposite mind, I'd rather Felicity came up with the idea/software and went to Curtis for the hardware development.  Then I can see her using the "unproven" tech on herself in a risky move.  Unfortunately, I fear that it's pretty much going to be all Curtis as far as idea/software/hardware and Felicity only gets involved when it comes to the risky move.

If I'm lucky they'll do something along the lines of Curtis developing tech for a different purpose but, Felicity figures out a way to alter his existing tech to "fix" herself.

Well someone came up with the ATOM that drew Ray to QC. I can see that being Curtis and this could be a similar tech. I can see this being a very similar thing but with Felicity in Ray's position and her own.

As for the WC...It could be interesting to see another side of felicity and Oliver. There could be PTSD involved, how does the light and joy source of the show deal with a tragedy like this on herself? How does Oliver deal when the tables are a bit flipped?-Oh right keep secrets from her at best. SMH.
