Carey October 8 Share October 8 Chit Chat, I literally was thinking about everything related to your post as I moved from 506 to here. Plus, I thought about it on Monday as it relates to the Floridian teams. Tampa is the biggest target, more than the other two. Like you said, Miami is off and Jacksonville is overseas. I wasn't sure where the Bucs were playing until I saw that they were not at Raymond James Stadium. I don't know or think the league is going to postpone anything right now. They usually don't, but I'm guessing & hoping that the families have already gotten to safety. What I don't know this minute is Tampa's prep. Don't think they're getting out easy if they haven't left yet 1 Link to comment
Salacious Kitty October 8 Share October 8 During the game last night, they said that the Bucs were flying to New Orleans today. The airport closed at 8am this morning. I bet these players have beachfront properties, so they've hopefully evacuated already. But this could be a make or break for team members who lose everything. What a horrible situation. 1 Link to comment

Even with their families evacuated, there is going to be so much worry over their homes, and if everything is okay with their properties, it might be a while before they can go back. It's a bitch evacuating, and it's a bitch trying to get back if there's a lot of damage. Link to comment
Fukui San October 8 Share October 8 There's being fired, and then there's being escorted out of the building by security. Quote Per multiple sources, Jets coach Robert Saleh was escorted out of the building by the team’s director of security, after Saleh got the news. That didn’t happen, we’re told, when the Jets fired Saleh’s predecessor, Adam Gase. Afraid of Saleh stealing the Jets' trade secrets? 1 Link to comment
Carey October 8 Share October 8 I had a better response to the following, but I lost it for several reasons. So I'll blame it on New York. Fuck them. 53 minutes ago, Chit Chat said: It's sad to me if TPTB of the NFL prioritize a game over the disaster this storm is going to be. It's a bitch evacuating, and it's a bitch trying to get back if there's a lot of damage. As much as I have criticized the NFL, it's still a tough decision. I imagine they'll make the best decision they can. While many of the players are going to suffer, I don't think it would be fair to skunk the fans that spent money on the event in advance. It's typically non-refundable and if that held here, they would have a right to be upset. I'd disagree, and I also don't know for sure if it'll go down as a tough loss. I imagine a refund for sure. Not so much travel costs, which I can't blame the league & company for. Mainly because travel insurance does exist. Outside of that, it's difficult to find a time and a space for makeup. Rather it's not easy. One of the things I've found vexatious is the league's eleventh hour decision making. I guess it's not a big deal if they've often said, "We have no plans to change anything." However, it wouldn't hurt if they said, "That is subject to change." As Salacious Kitty mentioned, people have the beachfront properties, and that's going to be a mess for sure. Fortunately (and IMHO), Florida is ultra aggressive which these annual disasters. They're on in before, during, and after. Totally no nonsense 1 Link to comment

Totally no nonsense I grew up in Florida. The state of Florida learned a lot from hurricane Andrew in 1992 (I saw a documentary about it). They've been on top of their game ever since and they know how to evacuate hospitals, nursing homes, etc. They have always offered any other state dealing with similar disasters their guidelines, etc. Some have taken them up on the offer, and one in particular didn't, and they didn't fare too well. 1 hour ago, Carey said: As much as I have criticized the NFL, it's still a tough decision. It is, but depending on the damage this storm does, the Bucs players may not have their heads in the game. Then again, they might play their hearts out for their hometown. Either way, it's difficult to be away from one's community when they're going through this, but for them, it's best that they & their families evacuate. For me, it's hard to get excited about seeing my team play knowing that the community they represent is probably going through hell at the moment. It puts football into perspective. It's a business and the show must go on, I suppose. Link to comment

Carey October 11 Share October 11 Couldn't agree more about those uniforms. The Russ era ones? Meh. Yeah they cashed & did hoist then, but...really present time is what counts. Last night was one reason why I chose the path of not getting into the early part of the season. Other examples include Pittsburgh & New Orleans. It takes 5-9 weeks for the real version of the teams to surface. To be fair, Seattle is missing several people Link to comment
Fukui San October 12 Share October 12 Random thought. I was never a Joe Flacco fan, really. I hated the Ravens, of course, but thought he really was just a fairly pedestrian QB on a strong team. However, since he's been supplanted by Lamar Jackson he had one season starting for the Broncos at a real QB salary and then has been available in let's call it the Ryan Fitzpatrick role for the last five years. Backup plus veteran QB available for a relative pittance. And looking at his stats whenever he's gotten into games these past five years he's played decently. Amusingly, Flacco's career QB rating as a NY Jet (3 seasons!!!) is slightly better than Aaron Rodgers' current QB rating as a Jet, 81.5 to 81.2. He's had better QB ratings as a Bronco, Brown and Colt than he did for his career as a Raven! So with that in mind, and with the benefit of hindsight, here is an incomplete list of QB acquisitions from the past five years in which the team would have been better off at the time signing Flacco for cheap and spending resources elsewhere instead of what they actually did. CLE trade for Deshaun Watson DEN trade for Russell Wilson Maybe NYJ trade for Aaron Rodgers? Still arguable That Carson Wentz in Washington situation Drafting at least three of the five first round QBs in 2021 (Zach Wilson, Trey Lance, and Mac Jones) Justin Fields is very arguable and Trevor Lawrence I'd say the jury's still out. 2022 Draft Kenny Pickett 2023 Draft Bryce Young. Jury's out on Anthony Richardson and Will Levis in the 2nd round I can't quite say definitively that the contract extensions of Tua, Hurts, and Daniel Jones would be on this list but it bears watching. Also Kyler is playing well this season or else I'd say him too. Whatever it is that LV has been trying to do at QB in the past five years, they would have been better off with Flacco. Basically a third of the league would have been better off punting their actual QB plans and just signing Flacco for like $10Mil. Who knew? Mind you all that I'm only making the claim that Flacco could step in and be like the 18th-25th best QB in the league if he played in any given season. But for dirt cheap. Link to comment

But yes, they could have gotten Flacco for a reasonable price, then invested in an OLine to protect him and receivers for him to get the ball too. Which when considering whether a team would be "better" off you have to look at the situation overall. Most of those teams were not just a decent QB away from contending. And you need to consider if the team would have invested the resources necessary to build a solid team that Flacco could run for a year or two while mentoring a rookie QB. 55 minutes ago, mojoween said: The General Manager of the Dallas Cowboys turns 82 today. Fukui San October 13 Share October 13 Drake Maye's first start for NE, lucky to be down only 14-0, and they now have a left tackle in that New England fans have never heard of. Zach Thomas. Chit Chat October 13 Share October 13 For the Bucs, playing a team with a rookie QB is their kryptonite, and true to form, they looked really bad during the first half. Luckily, they got their shit together in the second half and pulled it together, except for all of the penalties. It is so frustrating watching them shoot themselves in the foot and try to give the game away. 😲 Link to comment

Carey October 14 Share October 14 I'm not sure if one could call this revenge, but in a way Detroit's rout over Dallas avenged 2023. Might have changed the entire postseason picture. Maybe at the expense of the past season's participants. Maybe not. Detroit probably doesn't lose to Green Bay, but maybe Dallas loses to Los Angeles. Then you're having the Rams travel to Santa Clara and who knows. They win and from there, the outcomes that the Lions felt would result in a trip to Vegas where their QB goes opposite the guy he's never lost to. On the other hand, SF survives over LA, or Dallas gets them first, and then nothing matters. But I'll never know Link to comment

He deserves that just as much as Jerry. Also, they're currently 0-3 at home this season. Hopefully, they'll be more losses at home from these losers. Now, that's the $10 Billion Dollar "Brand" at work that we all love to see & laugh at. While it ain't happening this year I imagine the chances are a little better than winning a lottery. The Raiders would have to win the AFC in the 2028 & 2032 seasons. The further we go in time the easier things would become as the NFL often adapts & changes things at the 11th hour. For instance, someone else calling the game or a different network. Lastly, I hardly thing it's a big deal as it'll be up to the other teams to disclose info that would make the difference between winning & losing Link to comment
