Melissa, Chyler, and David’s contracts are up next season right? I’m not sure I can see them extending that. I’m assuming we’ll find out either way at Upfronts.

The show and actors seem to be doing well enough, I don't see why not.

I have no idea about Chyler; Harewood I can see leaving. If they give Melissa more time off/money, I can see her doing a seventh season, at least.

I wouldn't be surprised if they signed for another season if Melissa does but I'm not sure I see the show going past season 7.

The CW likes to announce its show's final seasons ahead of time. We will probably know if next season is the last by the end of the summer at the latest.

Was it at Al's, which I think was an entirely new set in "Bottle Episode"?

I’m pretty sure Al’s is the Unnamed Alien Bar from earlier seasons. It looks like the place attacked by the Agents of Liberty last season. I don’t think we saw much of it after that.

I believe so. Unless you count Katie Cassidy (Arrow) as a lead.

If you count Caity Lotz as a lead, technically she has an episode coming up for Legends that she's directed.

I wouldn't count KC, but I would count CL. My idea of "leads" are Melissa, Caity, Stephen, Grant, Ruby.

'Making Malefic J’onzz: How Artistry and Emotion Guide the Creation of “Supergirl” Nemesis' - from the VFX company.

Quote

...

In preparation for his season four reveal, Encore VFX began modeling Malefic J’onzz before LaMarr was cast, collaborating with Showrunners Robert Rovner and Jessica Queller on developing the character’s general appearance. It needed to be clear that he was the brother of established character Martian Manhunter but had experienced a rougher existence. Encore VFX Executive Creative Director and VFX Supervisor Armen Kevorkian led the design process, then the final character animation and design were informed by LaMarr’s voiceover performance.

“We used the recorded performance of Phil’s voiceover sessions as the emotional guide for Malefic, mirroring the nuance behind each line reading,” detailed Encore VFX Producer Brian Reiss. “In early episodes, Malefic is only shown in his alien form, so the character’s head is completely digital. Animators used the stunt actor’s real body as a guide, matchmoving each frame of the actor, then animating the head. The performance is all brought to life after Phil records his dialogue and we use that to drive our animation, even for action sequences where Malefic is in flight or dematerializing into the Phantom Zone and the character is full CG.”

...

To achieve LaMarr’s likeness, Encore VFX scanned the actor as well the character’s costume. This allowed artists to create an exact replica of each for reference and more seamlessly transition between shots with a full digital double and those in which a stunt double body is used.

OFFTOPIC: I have a question, in what scene did Chyler actually needed a stunt-double last episode? Or is it just random picture. Cause, for the life of me, can't figure it out.

I re-watched, there was one shot where Supergirl Alex gets blasted into a large computer monitor when VR characters attack her and Young Alex.

SUPERGIRL (The CW)

Average page count: 50-ish

Average scene count: 54-55 (range: 43-68)

Broken into acts?  Yes, 4 (Plus a teaser)

Other things to consider:

Act breaks are formatted in the standard way: ACT ONE centered, underlined and bolded at the beginning; END OF ACT ONE also centered, underlined and bolded at the end of the act. Act Four ends with with END OF EPISODE instead.

Note: The teaser is lengthy; it's basically the length of an act.

Flashbacks and significant words in action sequences are italicized. It also seems like the alien language (Interlac? Kryptonian?) when spoken is written in English, but italicized.

Occasionally significant exchanges or moments will be underlined in the script for emphasis.

Act outs are really big in Supergirl. An act will often end with a big reveal or realization.

Article on how Covid-19 might impact WB production. There's talk of love scenes and hand to hand combat possibly needing to be cut. Maybe they should break up all the Supergirl couples for a while. Kara/William and Alex/Kelly aren't great romances anyway.

Series regulars should “limit flying back and forth during their days off,” and should try to stay local to the production.

This could be a problem for some Supergirl cast who commute, especially if they have spouses or kids who don't live in Vancouver.

'How Batwoman and Supergirl Just Barely Finished Their Early Finales'

Quote

Sunday-night companion Supergirl, meanwhile, had filmed only some of its planned finale when production shut down. But rather than save that footage for next season (which we now know won’t air until Spring 2021), the show found ways to weave parts of it into Episode 19.

“[T]hey’re going to use some of that footage, but they’re writing a whole bunch of new stuff around it…,” Jon Cryer, who plays Lex Luthor, recently told PeopleTV.

Some of that “new stuff” comes in the form of simply dialogue, recorded remotely from quarantined actors’ homes. Melissa Benoist told TVLine on April 30, “I did some ADR [automated dialogue replacement] in my closet just the other day, actually. I recorded lines over Skype with our sound mixer.” (As such, said crew member “got a ‘sneak peek’ at all the clothes hanging in my closet,” Benoist noted with a chuckle.)

As Chyler Leigh, who plays Alex, told TVGuide.com, “There was a lot of creativity that had to go into editing and putting [Episode 19] together, because I still had two full days of filming to do.” Even so, the faux-nale fans are getting “definitely will be a big cliffhanger,” Leigh said. “This one definitely leaves you going, ‘Whoa, wait a minute. What happened?'”

Very interesting tidbit in incorporating what they filmed for episode 20 and using it for episode 19, as well as recording entirely new dialogue from home.

That's actually really good for them to do their best to make episode 19 the finale that they...may not have originally planned for, but what they hoped it would be. So it sounds like we'll get some closure on some storylines, as well as whatever cliffhanger they have. I can see why they delayed Supergirl's hiatus by a week; I imagine part of it was to make sure they were also on track with putting together this finale.

I just understand why they did Alex like that with this new costume!? The eye makeup???? Just give the girl a mask!

With the delay between seasons, and Alex's new role as vigilante, I hope Alex/Chyler can get a new haircut for season 6.

Her hair is already as short as it can get....what much else is there to do?

With this unexpected, slightly longer hiatus Chyler will have time to grow her hair out. It doesn't necessarily have to be shorter; just different. She's had that cut for about 3 seasons now? I'm just saying it's a good opportunity for a change.
