Setlist May 5, 2015 Share May 5, 2015 I'm not one for big proposals, but Amber's grocery list of proposals have all been mega lame. I get that the diner was their first date, but that date was seemingly like... Weeks ago. Step up your game, man! Her fiancé (is his name Matt? I forget) did seem more likable in the aftershow. I'm glad they let him talk. And I'm glad they let him talk more than Tyler. I really think that Maci will be waiting years for her proposal. Taylor seems nice enough, but it's obvious that he's NOT ready for marriage. What happened to Kristina? We haven't seen her in awhile. 2 Link to comment
Tatum May 5, 2015 Share May 5, 2015 When asked on the after show he was all, "You'll have to wait and see". So I get the feeling that he proposes on the show and they're trying to keep it under wraps until it airs. Now, as to them getting married.....yea. I see them having a LONG engagement. Yeah, some fansite posted pics of Maci wearing an engagement ring in real time (well, I guess I don't know it was an engagement ring, it was a ring worn on her left ring finger that looks like an engagement ring), so I think they do get engaged. However, he wouldn't be the first guy to purchase a "shut up ring" with no actual wedding plans in sight. Catelynn has been "engaged" for what, 5 years now? 6 Link to comment
kalamac May 6, 2015 Share May 6, 2015 I don't have a problem with a diner proposal. If I were being proposed to, I'd want it something really low-key and lazy (watching TV, hey wanna get married, here's a plastic ring out of a toy machine, because I know you don't like wearing rings and think diamonds are overpriced and pointless kind of thing). It's that they're asking that counts, not how it's done, as long as it's sincere. 5 Link to comment
Shelby May 6, 2015 Share May 6, 2015 It's that they're asking that counts, not how it's done, as long as it's sincere. This once-in-a-lifetime question should be asked thoughtfully and memorably. Minimally, the fellow should be proposing on bended knee without the TV on, and certainly not without getting up from his seat at a diner. If a woman doesn't have any expectations and accepts a crappy proposal, she sets the bar for what she'll accept in the marriage. 3 Link to comment
kalamac May 6, 2015 Share May 6, 2015 I will respectfully disagree, because I don't necessarily think of that as crappy. I would expect a lot out of a marriage, but I think most proposals are overdone and completely ridiculous. 11 Link to comment

My husband asked me in bed one night while we were cuddling after a year of dating. No fanfare, no bended knee, no crazy hijinks. The ring was a small, unassuming family heirloom passed won from generations in his family. And we've been married for 5 years, have a beautiful little girl, and have what I'd consider to be a great marriage. He tries hard, provides for us financially and emotionally, helps out around the house, is a great dad, and respects me. Some guys (and girls) just don't see the point to an elaborate proposal display. But yeah, there wasn't anything about Amber's proposal that said to me "this marriage will work!", mainly because Matt is just SO creepy and comes across as having an obvious ulterior motive. Did anyone else notice that in the wrap-up scenes (where all the sappy music plays and they show a few seconds of each girl), Simon was on the phone and Farrah was literally pawing him for attention? He obviously couldn't care less about her in that moment and she was swaying around him, looking at the camera, then looking at him, then trying to rub him and kiss him? It was hilariously pitiful. We've been married for five years with two kids. I wouldn't say it was a perfect marriage, but I've never felt shortchanged by the proposal or that it was all downhill after that. Granted, my situation is nothing like Amber's, so you know, I had a pretty considerable leg up, but I don't see at all how a lowkey proposal sets the tone for a marriage. Plenty of over the top proposals still end in divorce- possibly because more thought was put into the proposal than in the ensuing years of marriage? 6 Link to comment

I didn't say or allude to fanfare or hijinks being involved in a proposal. Reading back, I said thoughtful. There was nothing about that creep's proposal that was thoughtful. What I said certainly wasn't about your propsal, marriage or family or any aspect of your life that you described in detail. Congratulations on your 5 years of marriage. 3 Link to comment

poopchute May 7, 2015 Share May 7, 2015 Did Ryan propose to Maci at some point? I know she tried on wedding dresses but I don't remember if there was an actual proposal. If he has, that's two proposals for her, two for Amber, and didn't Tyler have to propose twice because they broke up or something at some point? So proposals are certainly not a once in a lifetime thing for these ladies. 3 Link to comment

So proposals are certainly not a once in a lifetime thing for these ladies. Maci and Ryan were engaged during the first season of Teen Mom, but I don't believe we got to witness any proposal on camera. And given Ryan's lack of interest, I'd be really surprised if much thought or romance was put into Ryan's proposal. Likely Jen picked out the ring and Ryan handed it to Maci while yawning. I don't know if Tyler proposed twice- I only saw one, but would not surprise me if he withdrew his proposal and then redid it at a later time. Farrah is still holding steady at 0. Although given her propensity for rewriting history, I'm a little impressed she hasn't implied that she and Derek were secretly engaged in high school. 3 Link to comment

Tatum May 7, 2015 Share May 7, 2015 She does mention something about being engaged to Derek in this TM Farewell Special I'm watching... Oh Farrah. Well, I wasn't there, and she was, but nothing in her 16 and pregnant episode indicated she had any romantic feelings for Derek, and in fact was flirting with some guy named Roberto and gleefully telling the cameras about how she was ignoring Derek's calls and had no intention of even telling him she was pregnant. 2 Link to comment
Elizabeth9 May 7, 2015 Share May 7, 2015 I know, the revisionist history just never ends with this girl...watching Being Farrah- well, in small increments because she keeps screaming at her parents after every clip they show and it's annoying me! Link to comment
poopchute May 7, 2015 Share May 7, 2015 (edited) I thought Tyler originally proposed in a diner maybe, and then the second proposal happened on a park bench. Maybe I'm thinking of her giving the ring back in a diner. That was when Tyler was demanding to see her phone records. There was some exchanging of rings in a diner, I do know that. Actually now I am remembering Tyler proposing in a bad suit in a restaurant? That was the first proposal, I think. Edited May 7, 2015 by poopchute 4 Link to comment

NikSac May 7, 2015 Share May 7, 2015 You guys have better memories than I do. I thought Cate and Tyler were up to 3 at this point. I remembered a restaurant one, park bench one, and I thought a diner one too (although maybe that was just a "giving the ring back" situation). 1 Link to comment
SPLAIN May 8, 2015 Share May 8, 2015 I believe it is three engagements for Cate and Tyler and now two babies, but no marriage. I hope they don't get married because Tyler surely doesn't look or act as if he wants to. The problem I have with proposals and the big show that is put on by people is, they put more thought into proposals, wedding showers and the wedding day than the actual marriage. The bride-to-be looks at all kinds of books, magazines, checking out pinterest, and all the other sites on how to have the perfect wedding! But, when the big day is over, suddenly reality sets in. I suppose because I am old and we didn't have the whole big thing that people do nowadays to plan out proposals using helicopters, big screens at football games, that it seems ridiculous to me sometimes. I get the idea of wanting to make it memorable, but some of them are over-the-top. As for Amber, it was just blah. Nothing exciting. I always get the feeling Amber tells her boyfriend to do it on camera. She has never really seemed surprised at any of the times she was proposed to. To be honest, it kills me to hear these guys go through the trouble of proposing to their girlfriend especially after their girlfriend has had their baby. It is the same feeling I have when people have a baby or two and then they go on and have these elaborate weddings. Spare me. You already did the deed, had the babies, just go to court and get married. It is beyond fucking ridiculous to expect to be proposed to. If having your boyfriend's baby doesn't put you at ease that he isn't going anywhere, then maybe one shouldn't be having that baby. How about not having sex? How about using birth control and having your guy wear a condom? But then, that "oops" pregnancy trap won't happen. I am as annoyed with these elaborate proposals or on-camera proposals as I am with the whole gender-reveal showers, like the one Cate and Tyler had. What is it with society today that the need for a party for every little thing in life must occur? What's next? A party where friends are invited over to see the results of your pregnancy test? A party to show your friends that you are ovulating? 7 Link to comment
NikSac May 8, 2015 Share May 8, 2015 I completely agree with the elaborate proposals, gender reveals, graduations, etc. Drives me nuts. The latest 'thing' in my area is "Prom-posals" - invitations to prom that are nearly as fancy as wedding proposals. It just seems nuts to me. Maybe the next big thing will be "pee parties" where they reveal the pee-stick in front of a cake or something. (eww) 3 Link to comment

You already did the deed, had the babies, just go to court and get married Wandering off topic, but I totally agree. My husband's aunt had a pretty fancy wedding for a second marriage when she and the groom already had a kid. And while she spared no expense on the white dress, she had a cash bar. I'm still annoyed. I feel the same about people who choose to get married at the court for whatever reason (a lot of times military), then have an elaborate wedding sometime later. Like, I get wanting a reception, but to actually buy an expensive dress, and have bridesmaids and say your vows in front of people when you've already been married for a year? I mean, your time, your money, but I'd feel pretty silly. I do think way too much emphasis is placed on weddings in general. For a lot of people in the younger generation, getting engaged becomes all about the wedding, not about the lifelong (supposedly) legal commitment you are making to someone. 6 Link to comment
SPLAIN May 9, 2015 Share May 9, 2015 I think Maci is pushing for an engagement because it will then give her reason to plan that big wedding she has been wanting for so long with whatever guy was willing to commit to her demands. 1 Link to comment

No offense to the baby at all, but when I read this, I read the "PCOS" part as piece of shit...piece of shit trap baby. LOL Totally agree that the two Kyles are out there thanking their fucking stars and that their sperm avoided hitting her egg. I laughed at this one quote by Farrah in the upcoming episode and yes, I wouldn't doubt Ryan watched her porn more than once: “It’s not about porn because if I was really a porn person, then I would have a porn name, like Candy Willow, featuring Ryan [Edwards] her ex-boyfriend who probably looks at my backdoor,” Farrah jokes. http://www.usmagazine.com/entertainment/news/farrah-abraham-blasts-maci-bookout-teen-mom-og-video-201585 Edited May 9, 2015 by GreatKazu 1 Link to comment
