catrox14 February 25, 2015 Share February 25, 2015 I find it interesting that Samandriel in higher on than uriel or Raphael. Is that because he was nice? The angels are a vote tough h IMO . The interesting angels were all dicks, Zachariah, Uriel, Raphael, Naomi, Anna in the end. Yet they were all such fascinating characters. Metatron was a bore after awhile. And all the other angels except maybe Gadreel were boring except of course Castiel who got a boring storyline because of all the boring angles. So I'm voting for those I liked as despicable characters not that they were good if that makes sense. I've never like Gabriel. I like the trickster though, so is a vote for Gabriel really a vote for the trickster? Hmm. Link to comment
DittyDotDot February 25, 2015 Share February 25, 2015 I liked Uriel, and refuse to vote against him. Zachariah, Michael, Raphael and even Marvatron...they were basically the same character in my book, but Uriel was interesting to me. Ironically, what he was rebelling against turned out to be what his goal was, but he didn't know that. I would've liked to have seen a few more angels going against the grain over the years. I found Naomi somewhat fascinating in a similar way. And Anna was intriguing to me at first, but they never really did anything with her in the end, so meh. Samandriel stands out to me because he wasn't just a monologing and shouty angel, but seemed to have a bit of his own personality, but again, they really didn't do anything much with him. Unfortunately, Balthazar did nothing for me, but I suspect that's because I've seen Sebastian Roche play that same character all over the place, though. Basically, Naomi, Gabriel and Castiel are the only ones I feel compelled to up-vote. But I also won't vote against Uriel, Gadreel, Anna or Samandriel. The rest of them, I have no issues getting rid of. I don't really care if the were nice or not, I just like them to be interesting. Link to comment

Maybe being Gabriel is all just a trick? :P Gadreel is the only angel I genuinely like. But yeah, I'm OK with Samandriel just because he's nice. Castiel was cool when he first appeared -- I liked him in Lazarus Rising. But he's become so dull and toothless to me, so I've been downvoting him out of spite. YMMV. Lucifer at least has a personality, even if it's annoying, so I've been upvoting him. Meh. I don't think the angels are that difficult because I don't really mind downvoting any of them, save Gadreel. Unfortunately, Balthazar did nothing for me, but I suspect that's because I've seen Sebastian Roche play that same character all over the place, though. Sebastian Roche always seemed to play that same douche-y, aging "cool" guy and I had no use for him anymore (including as Balthazar)...until I saw him as Mikael in the Originals last season. DAMN he was frightening. DAMN. After that enraged speech about "erasing" "abominations" (aka, people) I haven't seen him the same way since. That was chilling. Link to comment

He just wanted to have fun. I thought Balthazar was the Dean of the angels. Wine, women, song instead of Beer/Whiskey/Women/Song. Link to comment
rue721 February 25, 2015 Share February 25, 2015 My favorite thing with Balthazar was that he was so petty about the "Heart Will Go On" thing. Nobody plays that song anymore anyway, no need to change the entire universe in order to get away from it. But I appreciate the effort. The angel that I found most irritating was Zachariah, probably. Like when he said they guys needed to watch out, because he's so petty -- but then didn't act particularly petty? It was like he was trying to be a Magnificent Bastard but couldn't even pull off being a bastard, let alone magnificent. This is completely unfair, but I hated Hannah for that terrible outfit she always wore. Whenever she was onscreen, I was totally distracted by it. And wondering how the actress felt that she had to show up to work everyday and and put on that SAME hideous outfit...You remember that teacher in Clueless who couldn't dress? Cher and Dionne were trying to set her up with someone, so they gave her a little impromptu makeover as they passed her in the hall at school one day? I kept wanting someone to do that to Hannah. I didn't hate most of the angels, though. I don't even remember who a lot of them are. They were just so dull. Link to comment

She gave such comfort to Dean and called him on his shit. She tried to get Cas to open his eyes...but then TPTB decided she had to go looney and that is the part I despise. Zachariah what a fun angel to hate and yet love. He helped us to see future Dean in "The End", tried so hard to get his way but what a delicious way to die. Because of his stupid mistakes he finally got Cas to see the light so for that I must admit I will always enjoy him a bit. :) ETA: what not was....where is my brain??? If you find it send it my way. Lucifer was a whiny, entitled, asshat, but I loved to hate him, and his turn as Hallucifer was as amusing for me as it was awful (poor Sam). His motives weren't all that complex, but at least I understood where he was coming from and what he was doing, which is usually more than I get from most of the other angels. I'll finish off the rest of the bottom. But I'll let someone else eulogize Balthazar and say something more positive about Naomi... Naomi was just too confusing for me. I had no idea what she wanted or what her plan was. She seemed to be there mostly to torment Castiel for reasons I never quite got and then shout last minute warnings few were going to believe like an angelic Boy Who Cried Wolf. IA they need to make the angels more interesting to get fans on board. the angel storyline isn't compelling and the few they make interesting they kill them off pretty quickly.
