Like Sand Through an Hourglass: Behind the Scenes of DOOL

Message added by Door County Cherry

The Behind The Scenes thread is not a spoiler thread.  So spoilers, including casting information, do not belong in here.  The "behind the scenes" information specifically related to casting should go in either the spoiler thread or the Salem International thread which discusses. departures and arrivals thread.

Um. Why can’t she take her pets with her? There is no way I would leave my cat. You mean to tell me people are running out of their houses and leaving their pets well yes I know they are because people are horrible, but this makes no sense.

She has horses. The cats and dogs she could bring but horses are obviously much harder. So she stayed with them

It's horrible for everyone affected.  I live in Florida and there are still people displaced by the hurricanes from a few years ago who are getting jerked around by insurance companies.    There are people from all walks of life displaced but I do feel worse for the people on my street who are living in trailers on their land.

On the zoom with Paul Telfer (Xander) and Eric Marstoff (Brady) last night they said they are currently filming the week of Halloween. Paul says they have never been this far ahead before.

Neither seemed too keen on the new writers. They liked that the show gets all the cast interacting more rather than in couple bubbles, and that the women are being written stronger. Eric also said that the writing reflects their ages more and the 40-50 year old don't squabble like teenagers now.

Paul said that a lot of time was spent wrapping up Ron's stories and they aren't done yet. I asked about the Kiriakis boys working together and Eric indicated they team up to protect Titan from the DiMeras. Both were excited about that story.

Spoiler

They love the new Rachel. Paul says she is the best new actress on the show and just has "it". Eric said the recast happened because the plot for Rachel gets pretty intense and they needed an actress who could handle the material.

So far both their homes are safe. Paul was in San Diego getting fresh air.

I hadn't realized they did a zoom call with fans and took questions.

Huh. Was it faint praise or outright disappointment?

I wonder what caused them to be less than thrilled?

And did anyone ask if Emily's Therea/Gwen is finally over with?

So they're 9 months ahead? Well I will give Days this they have become pandemic/wildfire proof. I figure other soaps are going on hiatus at some point if not already and Days will at least have enough episodes without going the rerun route. Although I rather watch really old episodes of Days than the current show.

They do these zoom calls every few months with proceeds going to charity. It's limited to about 12 people and I think it was $79.

Nobody mentioned Theresa or Gwen.

I got the feeling that they were cautious about the new writers. Eric said they are more focused on classic characters and stories. I got the idea that means they worry about being buried behind a load of Bope, Shelle, Stayla stuff. At least we might hope Leo is reduced to an occasional walk on.

Its more an issue of accomodations. If you are being displaced, finding somewhere to go that is also pet friendly, wether that is a friend/hotel/shelter. Or people are running around finding areas unaffected that can border their pets first and then figuring accommodations for themselves. Just to clarify I'm not talking about anyone who just leaves their pets.

I’d save myself and my pet and then figure out where I was going to go.

Was this already known? Seems like a spoiler to me and should be tagged as such unless I missed an announcement.

It's been announced yes but hasn't happened yet. I'll go edit. I'm sorry

If it's been announced somewhere, i don't think there's any need to tag it. I know it hasn't happened on show yet, but I thought the public had not yet been made aware. Is there a link to the casting news?
