I don't think he wanted to keep working and doing surgeries.   I bet he still owns the office and practice though.   I think he's only been doing direct patient appointments, and hospital visits for the 600 lb patients.    He's 80 now, and deserves to enjoy life more.

New show is produced by his son's production company Megalomedia, and they do a ton of other shows.

Here's an excerpt describing the show from the previous poster, babyhouseman:

"follows 10 morbidly obese individuals, who have collectively reached a combined weight of 6,000 pounds, and are fighting to lose it and transform their lives. Set at Dr. Now’s medical facility in Houston, the 10-episode, two-hour long series, features first-hand diary footage from the people who have reached a lose-or-die point in their lives."

I don't think he wanted to keep working so hard,  and doing surgeries.   I'm sure he still owns the office and practice though.   I think he's only been doing direct patient appointments, and hospital visits for the 600 lb patients.    He's 80 now, and deserves to enjoy life more.   They also remodeled the office early in the year, so that's why it looks different in the trailers.

New show is produced by his son's production company Megalomedia, and they do a ton of other shows.     It's 10 episodes, 2 hours each, Mondays from 8 to 10 pm central time.

Yes, Justin, his Where are they Now was combined with Maja from Oregon.  They pair a train wreck with a success story.   Justin took his new chance at a healthy life with doing all of the things he wanted to do and never could.  Learning to fly, kajaking, and I think skydiving.

Maja....and Chris-shun!!!!  Every time I hear the song "Sister Christian" I am tempted to sing it as "Sister Chris-shun".

Ryan from Montana was my motivation at 3am this morning as I got ready for the gym.  You remember Ryan.  Doing curls with the keg of soda & all the claims of "I've been working hard" only to see the humongous scale at the weigh-in center show an error message.  Denial isn't just a river in Egypt.

Unlike Ryan (who wouldn't know a gym if it hit him over the head) I had a great chest & triceps workout.  If any of this is attributed to my annoyance/disgust at Ryan....well I owe him a tip of the cap.

I was raised in a household where we were pretty strict with grammar, so it bugs me every time someone says something like "Me and John are going to see Dr. Now...."  That's not the way compound subjects work!

Also, a less important nitpick is that there is no such thing as "healthy food".  Food doesn't get sick.  The correct term is "healthful food".  But virtually everyone makes that mistake so I give it a pass.

I am shocked.   I just saw an ad on TLC for a new season of My 600 lb Life, 1 January, on TLC.     I'm wondering if it's still with Dr. Now, and if they're years old?

I just saw the trailer for the next season, S13.E01,  1 January 2025 7 to 9 pm central, 8 to 10 eastern.    They showed Dr. Now.

With the Lifetime 6000 lb Diaries coming for 10 episodes on Mondays starting 6 January, this should be interesting.

Mine too but since a close family member went through an eating disorder, I have abandoned the term(s) altogether. I have instead adopted an "all foods fit" mantra. "Bad" food is food that is spoiled or contaminated. All foods have value; even foods whose most redeeming feature is that they are fun to eat.

Granted the poundticipants on this show really need to restrict intake, but once you get sensitive to the term "healthy (healthful) food" you realize how common it is.

I saw the commercial too. I thought with the Lifetime show, the TLC show was gone. Like you said, they showed the doctor. They also showed overweight people. Maybe Now can have 2 shows?

I think he maybe is going to have just the one show but it looks like he is working with another doctor and maybe the format will be different? Maybe the episodes won't each focus on one poundticipant but will show them all at the beginning and then all in the different stages?

Mostly I think that, for whatever reason, Dr. Now has jumped the TLC ship and is on Lifetime and they gave the show a slightly different name. They will change it just enough but I think it's basically the same thing, sliced a little differently (pardon the pun).
