Lisin January 14, 2014 Share January 14, 2014 I LOVED this pilot! I mean I'm a sucker for a serial killer story, and Matthew McConaughey so I knew going in I was likely to enjoy it but man did it blow past any expectations I had. I loved the tone, I loved the relationship already established between Rustin and Martin, I loved all of it! 1 Link to comment
ApathyMonger January 14, 2014 Share January 14, 2014 I liked the pilot a lot, but I kind of want to wait until the rest has aired and just binge on them. Stupid Netflix has me spoiled. Link to comment
mad_typist February 14, 2014 Share February 14, 2014 So, it's good to know that the murder scene designer from Hannibal is staying active while that show is on hiatus. The staging of the murder scene felt very familiar. 4 Link to comment
Fable July 23, 2014 Share July 23, 2014 Being bored with summer TV, I just started watching this, and it is fantastic! When I decided to watch, I told myself I would not watch more than 1 episode per day, so I could stretch it out through the TV off season, but I have no self discipline, and I am sure I will have watched the rest of the episodes by the end of the week. I read somewhere that this show will be an anthology and feature a different story each season. I love this idea. Too many times, great shows and stories lose their credibility by trying to stretch out their material far past the expiration date. As much as I think Harrelson and McConaughey make it work on this show, I think every good story needs a beginning, a middle and an end, which is why I don't think serialized TV usually works beyond a third or fourth season. Of course there are exceptions, but trying to milk a once great idea usually runs out of steam. In any case, I loved this first episode and can't wait to see the rest! 7 Link to comment
kieyra January 26, 2021 Share January 26, 2021 Rewatching this for the first time since it aired. (I never made it through S2 but I remember being impressed by S1, or parts of it.) It doesn’t really age well. It hasn’t been that many years, but they were some significant years. I find stuff like the porny male-gaze sex scenes hard to watch now. Also far less impressed by the writing than I once was. Of course, peak TV happened since then. And I had just finished rewatching Breaking Bad. 1 Link to comment
Orbert March 2, 2021 Share March 2, 2021 I did finished a rewatch as well. It's still impressive the second time around, but now it's just the acting performances and the writing. Those were always good, but before there was all the mystery and mysticism (or whatever it's called) and wondering what the hell is going on. You lose that on rewatch, but it's still fun watching it unfold and all the clues along the way. Still a well-written piece of television. They packed a lot of story into those eight hours. 1 Link to comment
