Hahahaha.  Ryan & Espo running away was hilarious.  May have enjoyed the names even more than the unbuttoning heh, and that's saying a lot.

Glad to see them have a quiet, honeymoon moment to themselves in between the investigation.  Of course it had to be interrupted ;), but still.

Castle completely gets a one track mind when Beckett wants to get the honeymoon started.  Totally spilled his drink, that smooth guy.

Lucky Castle's foot there didn't have another accident on vacation heh.  That would totally be their luck.  Lucky Beckett shot with somewhat accuracy with that old style firearm.

Bet there's no mobile coverage where they are stranded.

Castle finally gets to drive again, and the wagon runs off heh.

Anyone know why these places are called "dude ranches"?  Always thought it's "cowboy ranch"?

I love the way he's looking at her at the start there and the music is perfect, a lovely quiet little moment between them especially since poor Kate must be feeling pretty hard done by having her honeymoon at a "dude" ranch. I just wish that could have carried on that vibe a bit longer with the strip tease but of course they have to get the interruption...this time with a snake.

Last time it was a dog so they seem to be following a pattern of using animals to kill the mood.

I hope we get more of a pay off than that by the end of the episode and it's not just fun but no (honeymoon) games!

Just went to urban dictionary and found this:

dude ranch

a ranch where the owner of it does no work on it. instead he hires people to do the normal work associated with a ranch. george bush likes to play cowboy at his in texas.

george bush has a dude ranch

or

A ranch where stock-brokers etc. go to visit and pay to play at being cowboys.

Reminds me of the movie City Slickers.

The promo keeps making me laugh, when it has Beckett say she's not having her honeymoon on a dude ranch, and the voice over guy goes "Oh yes, they are." I can't remember the voice over responding to a character before.  Although, it is similar to that promo for Clear and Present Danger when the text on screen says she's gonna answer her phone.

Seems like 3XK is going to be coming back soon, apparently they're filming something around about now which I think is #7.11 unless they mean writing it not filming it.

I took it to mean they're writing the episode now - so it'll fall into Feb Sweeps - so possibly Episode 16? Last episode of Sweeps, if not then Episode 13. Since 14/15 will be dedicated to the Castle mythology.

So with that sneak peak, what's Castle's gripe (other than the snake?) He's alone with his new wife, they're stranded for the time being, alone, and she's apparently up for sexytimes in the woods. I mean, he should be at least semi glad that Ryan and Espo (the horses? the people? both?) aren't around now to interrupt.

It's good to see that they haven't forgotten that they're newlyweds. I hope that trend continues.

Well a 'dude' was a city slicker, all dressed up and not in working clothes like a real cowboy.

Of course, the meaning changed by the time The Big Lebowski came out.

So a 'dude ranch' was a place where tourists could go to play cowboy. There is a dude ranch in The Women (at least the 1930s original version) where the ladies stay while in Nevada getting their divorces.

Beckett should have stayed there after her quickie wedding to Rogan. Since they were in the area.

Looking forward to TPW's ep.

Me too.

You're right that it's kind of odd given the circumstances that Castle is miffed, unless he's concerned about a long walk back later on.

Thanks for noting that, McManda, my notification was buried somewhere in spam...

Enjoyed the episode.  On rewatch there sure were a lot more references to prior seasons than I picked up on the first watch...which was fun.  Wish Esposito would lighten up...I watch to be entertained, not for some odd contrived hostility.  Overall, though, enjoying this season.  Oh, and another thing that was nice, there were even a couple side shots where they were definitely both in the frame at the same time.  There's been way too many over the shoulder face shots for my taste as it has been making me wonder if they spent more than 5 mins an epi on set at the same time.  That over the shoulder view kind of takes me out of the moment looking at whether their hair is really theirs, etc.  Just my own little issue, but i did enjoy how into they all seemed this episode!

Here I thought you were talking about The Chase.  https://twitter.com/seamusdever/status/532286314931302401

11 correct answers in the Cash Builder. 5 correct in the first chase, and he got about 75% of the answers in the Final Chase (Dean Cain got the other 25%).  He won $50,000 for a charity that stops testing on beagles, and helped Cain get $50,000 for the Gary Sinise Foundation.  That dude is wicked smart!

I find the two parters have been getting increasingly overblown and I'd like them to scale it down and make things more personal to Castle and Beckett, guess this mythology then might do the trick. However, if they do focus on it in 14/15 I hope we get some answers on what went on during those two months and not more questions.

Thanks for the "dude ranch" explanations.  So I guess everyone's playing dress up.

Beckett must have really been in the mood if she was ready to get it going out there in the open bush.  That ground looked uncomfortable even without a snake heh, but Ryan and Espo were probably loaded with blankets before they ran off.  I enjoyed how they were both kind of smirking at each other as they started the strip tease.

I would have preferred him to lose the jacket, I don't like any of the jackets he wears now, just leave him in the unbuttoned shirt.  It's looks photo shopped (as usual) and they probably were never together.

I honestly think the fans can do a better job of promoting this show than anyone at ABC's marketing department.

Alan and Nathan team up again.

Los Angeles, CA, October __, 2014: Redbear Films signs director Alan Tudyk for his first-ever U.S. commercial representation. Tudyk, a regarded actor with memorable roles in films I, Robot, Knocked Up and Frozen, and TV shows Arrested Development, Young Justice, Suburgatory, Firefly and many more, has hit the ground running helming an upcoming campaign for Slickdeals produced direct-to-client. Tudyk will also be directing a scripted series, Con Man, produced by Redbear Founder PJ Haarsma and actor/producer Nathan Fillion (Castle, Serenity) in 2015.  Con Man will star Tudyk and others soon to be announced.

As long as they don't play the role of cockblocker.  :P  Though I might be forgiving in this case because Nathan's so cute with cats.

But really, we've had a dog, a tiger, a snake cockblocking now (the writers might argue they were just enhancing the sexual tension ;)).  Plus humans and inanimate objects.  What's left?  Baby Castle? ;)

God that picture is adorable with Nathan and that kitten he really is a crazy cat person.

I could almost excuse a kitten coming between them like that one but it is getting sad that they're using animals to kill the mood but I'd much rather have that than a screaming baby. *shudder*

Had to laugh at these responses from Rob about the wedding.

“@marel129: @RobKyker Will Rick and Kate be wearing their rings all the time in the upcoming episodes?” I sure hope so!!! Tired of hearing..

There's an easy solution for that one Rob, make sure they put them when they get to work each day then you won't get fans pestering you about it. Problem solved.

Castle and Vaughn form a Kate Beckett support group.  Just kidding, but I shouldn't be the only one seeing Vaughn here in this joint Castle & Forever promo instead of Dr. Forever.

http://insidetv.ew.com/2014/11/13/castle-forever-abc-promo/?hootPostID=4feda984ea31bfd3af6e4e704b1d69bb

Eh, it doesn't do much for me.  If they were promoting a men's support group sitcom here, I don't think I'd want to watch. ;)  They were going for a comedic vibe but it mostly fell flat to me.  Can't compare to the "Advice from Castle" promo at all.  If they were trying to sell the men from the shows, I don't think they did a very good job.  I'd rather see smart, sassy, or even snarky Castle but he seemed more of a doofus here.

Castle going undercover as a host or a participant of a support group could actually be funny if written well, but not here.

Edited by madmaverick

All I can see is Eric Vaughn when poor Ioan Gruffudd pops up now, which is such a shame because I loved him in Hornblower.

I'm with you madmaverick on which version of Castle I prefer to watch so that clip didn't do much for me either.

I do hope Forever does well for Ioan though, I understand it's very similar to Castle in many ways so I hope it manages to find a footing and not get canned.

Edited by verdana

Well, Forever did get a full season pickup, so ABC must think it can grow more. I had an opportunity to be on location when they filmed The Squab and the Quail in DTLA and met Ioan Gruffudd. He is a friendly and handsome man in person. However, this show doesn't interest me at all, but I know many folks who watch and really enjoy it, so I'm happy for them that it got a chance to have a full first season.

Edited by S55

S55. I read an article where Ioan had admitted he was gone to a psychiatrist to try and get over the problems he was having with getting rejected repeatedly at auditions and that it had been beneficial, thought that was quite a brave admission. Then the article mentions Forever got picked up just a few weeks after his confession. It must be pretty soul destroying if you're constantly being rejected for parts, not like these A listers who never need to audition again.

Loved Lanie's reaction and the slap on the chest she gives Castle as he tries to get in on the act with a hug. Although I still don't get why they weren't invited given that such a big deal is made of them being "family" almost. She was her maid of honour and yet in the end she doesn't even get a look in. I admit it didn't bother me much when I was watching the wedding but afterwards upon reflection it seemed a bit odd that they cut them out.

Tamala must have been thrilled that she had something to do other than talk about lividity over a dead body but that's probably her only appearance if they're off shortly to go to this "dude" ranch.

Loved Lanie's reaction too (carbs heh) and the forceful push to keep Castle out of the hug lol.  I wouldn't mind seeing Lanie smackdown Esposito when he's not behaving himself. ;)

Wow, it feels like forever since the boys and Lanie were at the loft!  I wouldn't mind seeing them socialise together there occasionally over poker games or meals, especially as the show seems determined not to show them socialising anywhere else.  Over a dead body doesn't count. ;)  I didn't miss them at the wedding to be honest, but it's nice that we get a 'finding out' scene after they inexplicably skipped over that juicy part with them when Caskett got together.

It'd be fun to see Caskett being nauseatingly sweet/grossing the guys out in honeymoon mode in the loft, if but for a second.

Castle and Vaughn form a Kate Beckett support group.

When I first this I thought it meant Vaughn from Alias and got really excited.  I couldn't figure out any connection, I was just such a huge Alias fan, so it was like an ad tailor made for me.

What's amusing about the idea of the support group, is that there really is no one else ABC could put there.  All its other 10 pm shows have pretty strong female leads.  The men are all secondary, at best.

Well, Forever did get a full season pickup, so ABC must think it can grow more.

It's doing pretty poorly, and TV By The Numbers says it must have gotten a full season because it has even less confidence in whatever midseason shows they have.

Forever isn't just similar to Castle, it blatantly steals from Castle.  They had an episode where the suspect was a writer, and it turned out to be a copy cat thing.  And the writer got all excited that his work was good enough to inspire a copy cat.  Then the female cop got all outraged.  And that's just one example.

Also like Castle, the highlight of the show isn't the cases but the relationships of the main character.  Only on Forever it is the guy and his son, not with the detective.

Although I still don't get why they weren't invited given that such a big deal is made of them being "family" almost.

Well since they took off before the case was really wrapped up, they needed Esposito and Ryan to stay behind and deal with the paperwork.

I also think they just didn't want to jinx things.

I think I must be the only one that's not annoyed that their wedding ended up being only immediate family. Actually, wasn't that a complaint back around the episodes when they were trying to come up with a guest list? That they only needed each other, but we (cynically) assumed that would never be true? And then it happens and we're annoyed they didn't include others?

Truthfully, I like that went with their gut and only included immediate family. That's in line with not really needing anyone else there. Not that Ryan/Espo/Lanie wouldn't have been welcome. It's just that in the end their wedding ended up being what mattered most to them - being together. They didn't need the cake and the venue and the dress and the guests. An officiant, some witnesses (I think you need two, and who out of Alexis/Martha/Jim are you going to leave out?) and boom. A marriage.

I think in the end Beckett was right. It was perfect - and as a viewer I'd say I agree; it was perfect for them.
