nottopbravo January 4, 2015 Share January 4, 2015 Airing on TruTv. New episodes on Thursday at 10 pm. One of my favorite shows now airing on television. Full Disclosure: Michael Carbonaro is a magician with a team of helpers who help him pull off his tricks. How he "does it" is not shown. What is shown is him usually working as a clerk or cashier in a store where unsuspecting customers are victims of his pranks. Chicks hatching out of supermarket eggs, clothing quick changes, crabs appearing in Chinese food delivery, shipping boxes full of children, etc. Best of all are his ludicrous explanations to the customer about what just happened. Last episode had a baby dinosaur hatching from a fossilized eggs. Love this show. Link to comment

Bellalisa January 21, 2015 Share January 21, 2015 After watching a bunch of these I feel like Michael is a tad bit obnoxious. I like to figure out how he is doing the tricks. Sometimes it is obvious. I read he has help with the tricks too. My favortie was in the REI when he came out wearing the mannequin clothing and they switched the ladder. She only turned around for a second so Im not sure how they switched the ladder that fast! Link to comment
nottopbravo January 24, 2015 Share January 24, 2015 I read he has help with the tricks too. He freely admits he has a crew that helps him with the deceptions. I think it would be impossible for him to do these by himself. Link to comment
SongbirdHollow February 7, 2015 Share February 7, 2015 I like the guy. The way he bullshits people when they ask him questions is hilarious. I am, however, surprised that PeTA hasn't gotten on his case about all the animals he uses. I think they are largely supplied by Staples Animal Safari, a traveling zoo company. As far as such outfits go, they seem reputable (I've seen them at our county fair and was actually pretty impressed), but there's a large contingent out there that I think are against all zoos and animal use on principle. So I'm kind of waiting for the other shoe to drop. Link to comment
gameoff July 30, 2015 Share July 30, 2015 Tonight was my first time watching this show. I saw episode 2x01. I thought the funniest one was the last lady with the space crabs. "They were crabs now they're cats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" 2 Link to comment
SongbirdHollow July 30, 2015 Share July 30, 2015 Her reaction to being told she was on the show was pretty awesome also. His asides to his "coworkers" are pretty funny as well. "We've got a citrus squatter here!" Link to comment
SharonH58 October 23, 2015 Share October 23, 2015 I love all the animal ones. The camouflage fish or the duck decoy I think were the best. People just saying but it looks real. ah yay! Link to comment
Tunia October 24, 2015 Share October 24, 2015 (edited) LOL - I like the animal ones also. My favorite was the pair of bunnies that kept multiplying until there were about 20 of them. And then there are the kitty ones...awwww - kitties! Edited October 24, 2015 by Tunia Link to comment
SongbirdHollow October 27, 2015 Share October 27, 2015 I don't know but if I went to pick up my dog from the kennel and it was squished into a flat disc I would have FREAKED OUT. Like seriously had a heart attack. I can hardly even watch reruns of that one. Link to comment
cooksdelight March 28, 2017 Share March 28, 2017 I just watched him walking a dog in the park, asking a guy to take photos... then he takes the cat out of the dog thing. LOL!!! And the dog under the hair dryer that comes out all fluffed and fancy. Poor animals have no idea why people are flipping out. Link to comment
cooksdelight March 28, 2017 Share March 28, 2017 I just found this show recently. I cannot pick a single favorite episode. The girl who kept thinking she was on the wrong side of the train tracks was great...I thought she was going to have a nervous breakdown. Link to comment

cooksdelight November 18, 2017 Share November 18, 2017 I’ve wondered how many people they film and then pull the best one from the bunch. There have to be people who recognize him and try to play along. I would! :) Link to comment
margol29 November 22, 2017 Share November 22, 2017 I just watched him restoring an old church. He fooled his helper into believing that an old chalice found in the wall turned items to cement when touched by it. The best part was the man who touched it and turned into a statue. I don't know how they switched out the man and statue so quickly and quietly. He was standing right next to the helper and she only turned her head for a moment. 1 Link to comment
margol29 November 22, 2017 Share November 22, 2017 What gets me is so much of this is left up to chance. The episode I just watched had a lady come into the store with a box she ordered online. The box was of a doll and the the woman wanted to trade it for something else. The gag was Carbonaro laid the doll down next to a real baby and the clothes were switched when they checked back to the baby. How does Carbonaro know that this certain lady who ordered this certain doll is going to come into his store on this certain day to return the doll? Everything had to go perfectly for this to happen. Too much is left to chance. That is leaving me wondering if this is really a magic show or a scripted show. 2 Link to comment

That is a more popular show than this one, so I would think they would get recognized more often than Carbonaro, who often wears some sort of disguise at least. What gets me is how he always say "It's a hidden camera......magic.....TV show" with pauses in place, every time. I suppose he says it that way to make it clear exactly what is going on. Madding crowd December 23, 2017 Share December 23, 2017 I watch this with my son who is a big fan. I enjoy watching magicians but I honestly don't know how he could do most of these without camera tricks. That makes me wonder if much of this is staged. Even with helpers, changing something right in front of someone's eyes seems impossible. Link to comment
SongbirdHollow December 31, 2017 Share December 31, 2017 I saw him live and it was a great show! So even if editing plays a part on TV, he’s still a bonafide magician and entertainer. He always does the reveal line slowly so that the person’s brain can process it. Link to comment
