nachomama March 19, 2015 Share March 19, 2015 george,s OINK MOO & CLUCK I shiver just thinking what I ate at my Grandparent's house when the 'rents farmed us out to go help them in the spring/end of summer. Enisi didn't play, you ate what was put in front of you and these people had never been to a grocery store in their life. As a youngin we had pickled ocra and apparently I didnt really like the ocra part. I would sneak into the fridge, lick the ocra, and put it back. ;D I was a stinker 2 Link to comment

No chainsaws? No ghosties? zombies? witches? Meh. No zombies, but...Scott Wilson co-starred with Robert Blake as the killers, so there's that. 5 Link to comment

They are vaguely cone-shaped, bright red, and caked in a granulated sugar coating so biting into one is sort of like biting down on rubber caked in beach sand, they do not taste like strawberries, they do not taste good or even edible, they taste like punishment and cruel jokes. They are small. bright red, satanic turds. 6 Link to comment

Nashville March 21, 2015 Share March 21, 2015 Brought over from another thread: I assume Noah tossed his dirty shirt in the hamper before leaving on the run. Nothing nefarious—just one of the everyday sad reminders of their terrible loss. Strange thing reading this: Back in my "road warrior" days (spending close to half my time on the road), one of my solid travel-related traditions was I always had to wash, fold and put away any dirty clothes before hitting the road. For no other reason than if something bad were to happen to me, I couldn't think of anything more depressing than the notion of my wife/widow running across her dead husband's dirty clothes in the laundry bin. Is that weird? 4 Link to comment

nachomama March 21, 2015 Share March 21, 2015 Friend of mine tried arguing drinking and driving with me. I have a dead brother in law courtesy of an asshat and he knows this. So I was fine with him saying he made it home safe. I believed was not impaired. However he didn't stop there. He then went on to explain that he might have blown a .8 and therefore was legally drunk but he wasn't drunk. He did math for me. 8 beers in 5 hours plus 3 waters. This wasn't making me feel better. I said if you can afford to go out and drink you can take a cab. "Legally" if you were pulled over you still get charged. You still might lose your job etc. why even risk it? Just the fact that you are arguing this point with someone who makes sandwiches at 3 am in a deli on weekends because she's still paying off debt from supporting Her sister for a year after the husband got squished, makes me believe your judgement is impaired. If a person tells you that they prefer YOU to die instead of a stranger if you choose to drive drunk makes me think you should stfu and pick your battles. 2 Link to comment

I am the designated driver most of the time for my friends cuz I'm too poor to purchase drinks if we go out. If $20 is my limit then I'm only getting a couple. I only ask if there is any question even the slightest chance you don't get behind the wheel. Money was not the issue. He can afford the ride. But he said if I invent the uber that drives him home and his car home then I'd be a millionaire. And honestly I think I did. I'd call it tuber or twofer. You call for uber or whatever service and they have 2 drivers. And they do get you and your car home. Cheaper than rhe bail money. Cheaper than finding a new job or new car. 1 Link to comment

They were coming home from picking up a present for their 17 and 18 year old girls. Thankfully the first responders insisted he go to the hospital even after the cops at the scene were all "oh he's just shaken up". Bastard went to prison for a long time over it. The medics told my Mom they did that so the cops couldn't cover it up. 5 Link to comment
nachomama March 21, 2015 Share March 21, 2015 The guy who spoke at my high school graduation was a drug and alcohol counselor for Navajo youth. He was the first Navajo to go to an Ivy League school. Son of a bitch wiped out a family on Christmas eve. He got on the highway going the wrong direction by going up an exit ramp. He insisted he wasn't drunk, through 3 or 4 trials. His blood alcohol was still way over the limit hours after because he refused to take the blood alcohol on the scene and they got a court order and forced it at the hospital. 4-6 hours after still over!!! Mom and 3 girls died. Father survived with severe medical problems and no family. 2 Link to comment

Yolapukka March 22, 2015 Share March 22, 2015 Brought over from S05.E13: Forget. Long time lurker on this board-hello, I enjoy reading all your analysis so much! Very late to this episode but wanted to add something quick that struck me- how much it reminded me of the( old bbc show) Survivors- post apocalypse a travelling group who have survived a plague come to a seemingly friendly eco- community capable of generating its own power, run by a plausible female ex- politician who videotapes interviews with all new arrivals- that ended pretty badly which is partly the reason why I'm not too optimistic about this one... And that show also got hard knocks when they focused too much on farms... Survivors was so ahead of its time (Abbie Grant, run off the show because she was too strong - I would love to see an Abbie type on TWD), and yet so of its time. British TV of that era was so free of sentimentality that the awful things on that show packed a punch that nothing on now ever could. And I can't imagine any TV show today doing some of the stories they did, which upset even some of the cast (poor Wendy and Barney...). Is this about the original 1970's series or the remake? I've seen some of the original when I was a kid and barely remembered it beyond a sense of enjoyment and a few bits here and there (including the female leader at the Grange(?) doing video interviews) because it's been decades since I watched it. I also remember that it had really poor production values. I think I'd like to see the remake, I enjoy several of the cast members. 1 Link to comment

Yet, somehow, it worked, mostly because they treated it seriously and honestly. Link to comment
