Ok, I'm gonna go ahead and order an oxygen tank for the last two episodes because I pretty much held my breath most of that episode, and now I feel dizzy.

You can tell the covid influence - minimal cast in scenes, social distancing... I know people are not liking this series as much but I guess they had to change alot of their plans.

Spoiler

Ruby's funeral broke me. Poor Lizzie, hope she doesn't end it. She needs to walk away from Tommy but I don't think she will. She's too ride or die.

Think Esme is f**king with Tommy but maybe the son will be Tommy's true heir and lead the movie?

Wee Karl the racist got it slapped right up him - though Ada should pull him out of his private school to teach him a proper lesson in socialism.

Well, did not call Gina hooking up with Moseley. Did think Tommy would go there but hey - still time.

Diana at the table was the most evil of anyone in the whole series. It's scary because you just know that it's most likely based on fact with the real Diana and that people like her no doubt still exist.

And Tommy has 1 year-18mths? That convo reminded me of discussing how long my dad had left. The consultant said "oh don't worry, he's not gonna die this week, he has 4-6 weeks left"... yeah he died 6 days later. Once Tommy wraps up his issues he's out of there. Last scene will be a close-up of Cillian's eyes and then bam! blank screen.

So yeah, pass the oxygen!

Omg I'm bereft! Like, it just finished 5 minutes ago but that was fantastic. Epic. Please give alllllllllll the awards to Cillian Murphy and Steven Knight.

There's one set piece that had me holding my breath

Spoiler

When Arthur takes on the IRA at the Garrison. So tense!

Gonna miss it, especially the scenes filled around Castlefield in Manchester because I used to hang out there all the time and I have a proper giggle when it comes on.

Bravo on a great finale. Im still processing so nuances will be coming later.

I've watched PEAKY BLINDERS since the beginning and I've always felt - outside of S1 - that each season only really 3 great episodes and the other episodes are filler (albeit well written and well-acted filler) working to the penultimate and final episodes of the season.  This season was no different. I guess people who were disappointed felt that the long wait coupled with it being the final season should mean that all eps would fire on all cylinders. To  me, it was par for the course. Strong opener and bang-up second to last and final episode.

Spoiler

-I love Duke.  Conrad Khan was in the  most recent season of BAPTISTE and was equally good. And I love how Finn and Charles both don't have time for this usurper.

-I feel bad for Finn in a way.  He can't come back from betraying family (and for Billy of all people! A snake in human form.), but I can see why he isn't as connected to the family to express that type of family loyalty.  They've always kept him in at arms length when it comes to their business. Yes, he could have showed some initiative and drive the way Michael had (at least learn Romany) but Tommy and Arthur are the ones who relegated him to watcher and didn't let him get his hands dirty.  It's a shame that he was the only idiot who trusted Billy to the extent that he would rather try to save him then go along with Tommy's instructions.

-As much as Michael annoys me it was disappointing that he was sat out in prison for most of the season while Gina was doing all the  machinations. Surely, they could have worked it so we saw more of Michael in action to make it seem as if he was a formidable foe for Tommy.

-As odious as Oswald Mosely and Diana Mitford are the reality is that they were 1000% times worse in real life. Mosley, Diana and her sister Unity needed to be strung up.

-I loved that Arthur came through when it was needed.  It's a beautiful thing that he's ready to follow Tommy into the great unknown.

-It's very soap opera-y that Mosely concocted this plan to convince Tommy that he's dying, but as I don't want Tommy to die (at least not like that), I'll go with it.

-Tommy and Alfie: Best Frenemies. It's always a good time seeing Alfie come through.

Same, and I agree completely. The time out due to the pandemic (and of course, losing Helen McRory) caused things to go so sadly awry. Is the movie a foregone conclusion?

Just binged it here in the US. Wow! It was really a great show. Can't wait for the movie. Guess we will have a Tommy sons battle. Really missed Polly but they did a proper send off and Ava stepped into her shoes pretty well.

Remind me who Finn is...another brother or a nephew? And what did he do wrong? He let slip the plans to off the fascist, right? What did Billy do?

He's the youngest brother. He let slip the plan to kill Moseley at the end of S5, which led to Polly etc getting killed. Billy was a plant in the business who fed the info out which led to the deaths.

Did we watch the same show? I struggled with S6. The absence of Aunt Pol was devastating to the family dynamic which made this show what it once was. Arthur was MIA due to opium addiction for 5 of 6 episodes, no Curly, only a sprinkling of Ada, no Finn, Michael locked away. The first 2 episodes were intriguing but then all the time wasted on Ruby's death and the Gypsy curse felt like filler. I had no investment in Ruby as a character. Natasha O'Keefe gave a brilliant, moving performance as Lizzie but otherwise...

The Boston baddie is a letdown and Mosley's despicable fiance was only fun in the scene with Ada. Haven't seen episode 6 but I'm sure it's setup for the alleged movie coming out in the next 10 years.

I've loved PB since it first appeared on Netflix but man did Helen McRory's death kill this show. Either that or it's way past time for it to end. I'd watch anything with Cillian Murphy. As usual, his performance was worth any time I've invested.

But . . . ultimately, what they did with Ruby was critical for Tommy to survive at the end. They had to establish her gypsy links and communications in order for Tommy to believe it was her sending him the message at the end. Other than his first wife (who wasn't a gypsy) and Aunt Polly (with whom new scenes couldn't be shot because 😢), who else would he have believed was a real gypsy message and not a hallucination?

Does Tommy have to sleep with every woman he encounters? Diana was the worst of the worst. I hated her even more than the crazy Russian chick from season 3. Poor Lizzie.

I will say I did not see the Doctor lying to Tommy about his illness coming. I thought that was a good twist. When they focused on his face in the picture I gasped.
