Prevailing Wind April 24 Share April 24 I love it when Eliot speaks Klingon. 6 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/153234-s03e04-the-hustler-job/#findComment-8644843
blueray April 24 Share April 24 (edited) I was wondering why they never dealt with this classic scam (at least as far as I can remember). It was nice to see it related to one of the characters and be personal for Harry. Parker was great as usual and got to stab someone. Eliot trying to speak Klingon was great as well. I called that Bianna was going to fall for the ceiling at some point. At first I thought it was going to be the "distraction" or delay that Sophie wanted the first time, but it worked the second time. snarktini April 25 Share April 25 Gina Bell is just getting more beautiful with age! She is stunning, and I especially appreciate that her face looks natural. (Parker on the other hand...) Not my favorite episode. Harry reminded me a bit of Hardison as the Ice Man -- a not-particularly-believable persona, in over his head with gangsters. 5 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/153234-s03e04-the-hustler-job/#findComment-8645040

My take on this is that Sophie realized this and it was planned to have Harry out himself if needed. As then he is no longer trying to be a "character". The twist (which I didn't see coming actually) was that it was on purpose to get the guy to contact his mob boss and use an actual bank account. 3 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/153234-s03e04-the-hustler-job/#findComment-8645112
MissLucas April 25 Share April 25 (edited) I'm with Parker on this one: Nana scammers are the scum of the earth!!! If Dante were living today he'd give them their own special circle in hell. The one element that did not work for me were the Eastern European geeks - that was way over the top almos sliding into a condescending cliché. The mark was not stupid - he pretty much tagged Sophie as the one who pulls the strings - he just wasn't clever enough for Sophie/the writers (because once you analyze the con it's clear that she anticipated to an unrealistic degree - which is par for the course). I loved her dedication to the con: Georgie is a Gemini and therefore she has to wear emeralds LOL! Sarah 103 April 26 Share April 26 I think by now Elliot would be better versed in geek culture based on all the time he has spent with Hardison. Overall, I liked the episode. 4 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/153234-s03e04-the-hustler-job/#findComment-8646083

andromeda331 April 27 Share April 27 I loved this episode! It was so funny and funny. I loved the teens were geeks. I agreed Eliot Parker should have taken it she speaks geek more but it was fun watching him try to be geek. Speaking Klingon. Telling them he's Luke Skywalker. Finally getting to them with Samarui Midnight or something. I wondered for a second if that was Hardison. I love how Parker just ended up behind them. No idea how she got past the glass but that's so Parker. I loved her endless hate for Nana scammers. Same here Parker. Leave Nanas alone. It was fun having a mark that could read Harry and some bit of Sophie. I liked that Sophie had a backup plan for Harry. I wondered why she agreed so quickly to the change from Eliot to him knowing how upset Harry already was. The mark got scammed by his own scam. That was great. I loved Sophie and Eliot's reaction to Parker doing recon and Eliot running off. Stopping Parker right before she suck the needle in the guy's neck. I agree with the mark Sophie why would you were stolen emerald from the Indian royal family? And that Sophie did because Georgie was a Gemini. I loved Harry's hustler look. Wow, that was some look. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/153234-s03e04-the-hustler-job/#findComment-8646789
DoctorAtomic May 7 Share May 7 Oh, taking advantage of old people? I'm mad a minute into the show. Nice touch that in the last episode, Harry talked about his mother, and we have a story here. Is this a scam in real life? Because I can totally see with everyone posting online that you have a ton of material for deepfakes. I really like how this was old school conning in the pool hall but also high tech with the deepfake scam. Keyes wasn't too much of an idiot either. Not that they weren't ready, but Keyes knew Sophie was in charge. I was going to say I don't get why Breanna told Harry to miss in the second game though. Right after Keyes put the money in the account, I knew that was part of the plan. I'm surprised Harry needed the glasses at all. I've liked all the episodes maybe because it seems like this could happen irl. Even the kids being forced to run the scam. This seemed more like a proper con even with the cos-players than the previous episodes. The christmas carol was, I suppose, but you can only do it on xmas. Again, though, there was a snag in their plan. I know they couldn't have expected cos players but still. Adding Harry to deliberately blow his own cover is a good deflection for Keyes because at that point he thought he had the upper hand, and Harry wasn't playing his anger. Keyes probably wouldn't have agreed to the third game if it was Eliot. He would have been actually too professional. Mastermind. She even told him when he gave his tell. That's why I liked this one. Much better planning. 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/153234-s03e04-the-hustler-job/#findComment-8655023

Are you talking about the grandparent scam? For sure, it’s been a thing for years, even before the deep fake technology. Just calling “grandma” and telling her you’re in trouble can be enough even without faking the voice. A relative got taken in by a disturbing variation on this. His grandson actually was arrested (in a protest) and was being held, needing bail. A scammer got hold of the info (is it public record? Not sure) and contacted him posing as the representative of a bail bond company. The company was real, but the scammer was not associated with them. I think he ended up losing a couple hundred dollars on gift cards before he realized something was up. Could have been a lot worse, I guess. And that’s your PSA on the grandparent scam for today. 3 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/153234-s03e04-the-hustler-job/#findComment-8655034
Prevailing Wind May 7 Share May 7 I got one. A guy called & said, "Grandma?" and I asked him, "Which grandchild is this?" He hung up. I was all set to tell him he's dead to me unless he marries that pregnant girl, but, damn, he hung up. I knew it was a scam because I don't have any kids, much less grandkids.
