S01.E07: Teeth Marks

And more Moriarty, sigh.  This is not helping the show.

I liked the case and even liked that Watson's hallucinations led him to finding out his meds were being messed with.

Back to the annoyance that is Moriarty, it seems obvious that all Watson's proteges have some baggage apparently unknown to Watson, so now he's messing with Ingrid.  To what end and will the payoff even be worth it?

I'm not sure TPTB have this figured out.

A tumor with teeth?  Oh, hell no!

Did Moriarty somehow make the pharmacist to OD on the meds?  If so, was it to draw attention away from Shinwell?  I'm a bit confused there.

Here's my theory, but they really shouldn't make us worl this hard to figure out what the hell the story is:

Evil Minions of Moriarty (EMMs) told the pharmacist that they would pay him all the money he lost gambling, to restore his family's losses, if he would confess to meddling with Watson's meds and then kill himself before anyone could ask more questions. And EMMs also said that if he doesn't go along with this plan, they will kill [or otherwise destroy] his family.

He may or may not even have actually have had a gambling problem. Maybe they just threatened his family.

What this doesn't answer is: why is Watson so easily duped?

I think I missed something in an earlier episode. Why is Shinwell agreeing to help mess with Watson? He seems to legitimately not want to do it, so I don't get it.

All we know is that they're threatening him. And apaprently he's too stupid to tell Watson and figure out a way around it. It seems like real cowardly stupidity, to me.

Nothing about the teratoma made sense to me. Why was it causing her to reset every 3 minutes? I think they just make stuff up on this show, even more than on other medical shows.

Cool case. Wish it wasn’t so muddled because of the Watson/Moriarty of it all.

I don’t mind the detective stuff when it comes to patients but when the focus is on Watson (or his personal life and long suffering ex who really deserves to have more to do) I find it dull and silly. Especially in this episode, with all the malevolent coincidences Watson seemed to just brush aside. I’m hoping his trust in Shinwell is an act and he’s keeping an eye out, otherwise he’s got a major personal blind spots as a detective.

I also find Moriarty more goofy than intimidating—agree that he’s miscast—so him threatening Ingrid about the body she buried in the lake didn’t move me. I’m more invested in finding out what she did to the guy and why. I’m assuming it’s her father, who she’s said disappeared when she was 16.

Ha! Nice try, show. I'm still not interested in Ingrid.

Yeah, they spent time on everything else except why/how the tumor was affecting her memory. And yes, it's completely plausible that a person can an undetected tumor for a long while, BUT with the fact that the patient had been trying to get pregnant and had a miscarriage, it's weird that nobody caught a ovarian tumor.

I feel like they're maybe doing too much with the supporting doctors when this show is new, and we hardly know/care about them. And the twins are particularly annoying to me, as person with siblings; we'd never act/talk like that ... in front of non-family ... in a workplace. (Yeah, yeah, I know, it's TV.)

I'm so over the trope of persons having to work together with their ex; but even besides that, I'm not sure what the show is going for with Watson and his Ex-wife? If they are trying to do a reconciliation arc, they shouldn't have started the show with them getting divorced.

The pharmacist being coerced to take the fall for Shinwell and commit suicide does do a good job of showing how dangerous Moriarty & Assoc. are, but I still think Randall Park is miscast. Glad Watson finally has a clue about him now.

When Ingrid held up the baggie with the index finger, all I could think was that was one LONG finger.  It looked to be the size of a twig, about ten inches long! I wondered if she had buried a primate of some sort, rather than a human.  Did anyone else notice that?

So does Moriarty just have a handy freezer full of that body now?  Classy.
