Gweilo March 21 Share March 21 The old woman's description of her husband's death in bed was hysterically blase. 6 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152502-s01e01-the-fall-of-the-house-of-usher/#findComment-8613020
chaifan March 21 Share March 21 This show is fabulous! The cast is wonderful, Al Franken playing a senator... now where did someone get that idea??? 😁 Codelia Cupp is a lovely mash up of so many other tv detectives (Monk screams out in places), yet still is very much her own character. I love the use of time jumps between the witnesses as narrators, and it just flows so well. Looking forward to the rest of the series. Hoping I can slow my pace on it to make it last. 6 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152502-s01e01-the-fall-of-the-house-of-usher/#findComment-8613182
peridot March 22 Share March 22 The jumping around in time thing threw me a bit, but I slowly got used to it. The advisor/best friend seems almost too obvious to be a suspect, but the Australian team being involved is interesting! I wasn't expecting for Kylie Minogue to actually appear, I thought they would use a random actress shown from a distance. I loved the Secret Service agent's obsession with the celebrities. 6 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152502-s01e01-the-fall-of-the-house-of-usher/#findComment-8613607
Paloma March 23 Share March 23 It's fun but I was tired so had some trouble keeping up with names of characters ( as well as the time jumps). Am I right that there was a reference early on to the President and his husband? In other words, the President is gay if I heard that correctly. Is Morgan the last name of the President or his husband, or both, and is Tripp Morgan the brother of the President or the brother of his husband? And is Jane Curtin's character (the one who found the body) the mother of the President or the mother of his husband? Expand The best I can remember: There is a first gentleman, and they both seem to share the same last name. Tripp is the brother of the president, and Jane Curtin is the president's mother-in-law. Also, she does not care for the president (gags every time he's mentioned). 1 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152502-s01e01-the-fall-of-the-house-of-usher/#findComment-8614487
shapeshifter Thursday at 05:03 PM Share Thursday at 05:03 PM Just saw this episode. I appreciate the way they showed the layout of the White House. And, of course, the casting is fantastic. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152502-s01e01-the-fall-of-the-house-of-usher/#findComment-8618623
DearEvette Friday at 09:08 PM Share Friday at 09:08 PM Enjoyed this when I thought I'd just put it on for some background/entertainment. But I got sucked in and it is all because of Uzo Aduba. She was excellent. Everyone was well cast. I know he has been in lots of things since then, but I always think of Ken Marino (who plays Harry Hollinger, the President's interfering BFF who is wildly overstepping) as the really incompetent Capt. Stently from Brooklyn 99 who kept failing upward. I am curious if this President is supposed to be rather benign with an unpopular presidency or somewhat evil with an unpopular presidency? Which then makes you wonder if Eliza Coupe (the blond senator who kept interrupting) is an Axis of Evil senator or Out For the Truth senator? I love that they cast Al Franken here as well. I see you show! Can't wait to see whodunnit. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152502-s01e01-the-fall-of-the-house-of-usher/#findComment-8619608

Expand So far I think it's mostly trying to steer clear of obvious Right v Leftism, which, if I'm correct, is both refreshing and smart in the way they're doing it, especially with regards to writing and directing.
