I'm watching, but I can't decide if I like it or not.

I did feel bad for a few of the survivalists who are struggling, like Ashley who couldn't make fire. She's the one who's trying to prove herself to her fiance and future father-in-law, but her fiance is subjecting her to tough love by not even getting firemaking tools for her.

The big wall screens in the control room and trying to get stuff to survive give me Hunger Games vibes. But fortunately, they're not trying to kill each other.

She would be crazy to marry him after seeing how he behaved towards her. She said she wanted to prove herself to her future father-in-law but he has tried to be much kinder to her than her "future" husband who keeps not wanting to help her. Nobody else is going to want him after this airs, Fiona was steaming watching it when he wouldn't even give her anything useful when he had the chance.

The family dynamics are quite interesting for a few of them. The father of the first guy out just made excuse after excuse for him & if I had ever spoken to either of my parents the way he did I probably wouldn't be around to tell the tale. Talk about enabling bad behavior.

Yay! A forum! I have opinions about this show. The first kid to go was just useless. I couldn't believe how he was talking to his parents. I can't feel bad for them, though,  because they're also kind of awful. The way his mother didn't even hug him back when he was extracted!

I feel like we need to do a Go Fund Me for Ashley to dump that loser Austin. She doesn't need to prove anything to him - she raised her daughter alone and went back to school; she is already more accomplished than he will ever be.

He also keeps gaslighting his daughter in the worse possible way, so much so that Mrs Shrek was getting quite irate while watching it & admitted that it had triggered her somewhat. 

As for Austin, I don't think he hits the button to get her out & he seems to revel in causing her as much pain & suffering as possible. Even his father looked at him at one stage as if to say, "OMG did I raise THAT?". He actually looked both shocked & surprised at the same time, yes you did raise that sir.

No thanks needed @Dirge, I was also feeling I was the only one watching.

Oh my goodness, yes. He kept saying "You can't keep carrying that around." It seems like after he stopped being her coach, he didn't have much interest in her. But SHE'S the one who's 20 and has to grow up and it's up to her to initiate conversations. 

I assume they were cast because of their dysfunctional relationship, but it's painful to watch.

Way too much time spent on the father/daughter this episode for me.  I fast forwarded quite a bit.  I'm here for the contestants to figure out how to survive, but it doesn't seem to be that so much as they have the possibility of getting supplies throughout the experience from their support people.

I don't know why it was expected that all the support teams of the men should give up the hot chocolate drop when there were two women with the green 'health' status.  Seems hypocritical to me that healthier women were more entitled to the supply boxes than not as healthy men.

It seems like most of the participants just wait for the next supply drop.

This show is all over the place. Tonight’s bread test was just dumb-how are people supposed to judge how much bread to take when they don’t know how many are left. Then giving out supplies based on how much you like the families at the headquarters is also dumb. I would be terrible at this challenge; I’m a life long vegetarian and if any rats were crawling on me I would be screaming bloody murder.

So, Ryan H. and Jake who didn't take any bread for themselves and left it for the others were not given any supplies by the other families when the opportunity was given.  And, the woman who took a second portion of bread was rewarded by given three supplies.  Guess the families are not as kind and cooperative as they portray themselves.

It seems like the contestants just stay in their little campsites and don't do anything outside of challenges, etc.

OMG!!!! What a selfish, manipulative cow!!!! Moral superiority my ass, and it wasn't a love letter, it was a letter telling him to tone down his awesomeness to get the target off his back! THAT is why she's pissed, cos she needed him to get the letter— ironically, so he could raise his chances of winning. Then, bam, Extraction! WHAT in the actual FUCK! I am supremely pissed for him. $250K BYE BYE! I'd lose her next. If she gets this manipulative this fast who knows how she's manipulated him all this time. Aaarrrrrrggghhhhh....

I blame the brother more than the wife.  He was whining about having to sleep in the little bed in the pod.  He was whining more than his brother in the woods.  The brother missed his family and wanted to leave.  He had to get his brother out of the woods to do that.  The wife was upset that they didn't let her hubby get the letter.  I hope her husband really lets his 2 anchors know how they pulled him down when he could have won.  He needs to go on Alone where his family can't pull him out.

Sean and Sarah are the worst. Even if they hadn't extracted Ryan, that letter would have really demoralized him. He was lucky he didn't get it, and then -- wham. 

Sarah: "I feel like a failure in some ways." 

Me: "Woman you are a failure in all the ways!"

And then, after she tried to send her husband a "we're so unhappy here" letter, she has the nerve to blame the lack of the letter for the extraction. 

And THEN then, she said she was going to have to watch Ryan cry about the extraction. 

I feel bad for Ryan because he wasn't just surviving; he seemed happy out there.

So, the team that was actively forming an alliance, had denied supplies to other contestants, and were just fine burning someone else's letter had a hissy fit because their manipulations weren't going their way?  And Sean was mad because he had to sleep in a twin bed?  Ridiculous!  I felt for Ryan W., and maybe this adventure was a way to get some space from his manipulative family.

However, I was also surprised by how much others were trying to stop the extraction.  What?  You all realize only one person is going to win, right? I'm right there with Jakoben's family-if someone wants to extract their person, let them, one less competitor. 

I wish the better players weren't always the ones who are deprived.  Kind of tired of the more able being punished in order to favor the weaker.  I'd like to see more of surviving in the wilderness than the petty manipulations of the families.

If I were Ryan W., I'd be very angry at my wife Sarah and brother Sean. They were completely selfish in their decision to extract him, thinking only about what they were going through. Yes, Ryan W. was managing pretty well out there on his own, but he still suffered. By extracting him for no reason, they completely wasted everything he suffered through. Also, I agree that Sarah and Sean were also being hypocritical, considering what they had done to other teams.

Ryan W. was a strong contender to win. So I wonder if there was any producer manipulation going on behind the scenes (like, talking to families) to create more drama and suspense.

It's not like Sean and Sarah didn't know how long this could last.  Instead, they seemed to feel sorry for themselves and a bit envious that Ryan was having such a good time.  Sarah kept referencing that he didn't know what they were going through.  Which was what exactly?  Being fed, watching Ryan and others, sleeping in a twin bed, interacting with other people that they would never have to see again if they didn't like them?  What, exactly, was so grueling and miserable for them?

And, yes, Ryan should try out for another show-one in which he doesn't have to bring his family along...

It made me wonder if maybe there was some kind of reward for discouraging or delaying an extraction. Something the producers mentioned ahead of time. 

Does anyone know how long the survivors have been out there at this point in the show? Thanks in advance for any help!

This was frustrating to watch. I was with Faith at first, but she turned this into a competition of "who loves Mom more" and that's just so stupid. If I were one of the supporters (I'd never be the survivalist!) I'd require that my family member either say they wanted to be extracted, or fail to say an agreed-on phrase on camera (in case they were too debilitated to see that they needed extraction). 

I also have no sympathy for all of the relatives who don't want to risk being the decision maker and then blame the volunteer. Put your hand up and risk something, then, if you want to control what happens! 

eta: I don't think I could have killed an animal to eat if I somehow went mad and volunteered for this show, but I could sure try to get a fish with the spear or the bow and arrow.

for a show that's supposed to be able people surviving in the wilderness, it really seems to be about the conflicts at headquarters.  Those people are sure quick to point fingers at the decisions being made by others without even considering how the decisions they make are affecting others.  Glad the father/daughter left as I do not find inter-family bickering fun or enjoyable.  The mom seemed surprised they extracted her, but she was kind of an Eyeore out there so I don't know what she was expecting them to do.

I figure they would have a code word too, if I don’t say the code word then don’t extract me.  Doesn’t seem like this crew was smart enough to agree on one.
