MicheleinPhilly January 23 Share January 23 I've seen a grand total of ONE nominated film but that ONE film demonstrates that category fraud is still alive and well. Kieran Culkin is no way a supporting actor in his film. He's on screen in virtually every single scene. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151550-the-97th-academy-awards/#findComment-8562307

It's good but so slow -- working on finishing it. Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151550-the-97th-academy-awards/#findComment-8562311
kittykat January 23 Share January 23 Agreed Kieran Culkin has as much screentime as Jesse Eisenberg but Best Actor is already stacked. Seems like I've heard nothing but bad press about Emilia Perez so we'll see how that one fares. Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151550-the-97th-academy-awards/#findComment-8562360
ShadowHunter January 23 Share January 23 Very happy for Demi Moore and The Substance. Even Nosferatu got a cinematography nomination. Nice day for Horror fans. I have no interest in seeing Emilia Perez. The few clips I have seen I do not understand the love. Happy for Wicked and Anora as well since I actually saw those movies and liked them. I went to check out A Royal Pain but I can't stand Jesse Eisenberg. 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151550-the-97th-academy-awards/#findComment-8562377

This film won't endear you to him. I basically watched it to see what the fuss was. I'm not opposed to the screenplay nomination but he does nothing for me as an actor. Too much association with Fuckerberg for me. The good news is that it is barely 90 minutes long. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151550-the-97th-academy-awards/#findComment-8562392

Haha yes, let's rejoice in the hate lol. 90 minutes is not too bad thanks for the info. Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151550-the-97th-academy-awards/#findComment-8562401
Crashcourse January 23 Share January 23 I should receive an honorary Oscar for not having seen any of these movies. 1 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151550-the-97th-academy-awards/#findComment-8562405

Same with Zoe Saldana, she's in Emilia Perez more than KSG. I don't know anyone who saw Wicked that would qualify AG's part as supporting and not lead. kittykat January 24 Share January 24 (edited) Category fraud is nothing new unfortunately. It seems to be strategic especially with Zoe and Kieran. best actor is already stacked so they figured they have better shots at supporting Edited January 24 by kittykat Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151550-the-97th-academy-awards/#findComment-8562565

So true, three years in a row the best supporting Oscar went to three actors in a leading role (Mahershala Ali in Green Book, Brad Pitt in Once Upon A Time in Hollywood and Daniel Kaluuya in Judas and The Black Messiah). I feel bad for the veteran actors, character actors and newbies who got screwed out of a nomination because of studio strategizing. 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151550-the-97th-academy-awards/#findComment-8562617
ShadowHunter Saturday at 06:40 PM Share Saturday at 06:40 PM Emilia Perez and Adrian Brody seem to be the Awards Villains this season. The reactions to all the nominations for Perez have been hilarious. While I agree the score to Challengers was snubbed I don't feel the movie was robbed in other places the way many others feel it was. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151550-the-97th-academy-awards/#findComment-8563944
JustHereForFood Sunday at 05:10 PM Share Sunday at 05:10 PM Damn, I was hoping that Vlny (Waves) would get a nomination for best international/foreign language movie this year. (Not gonna lie, it was the only thing that interested me this award season.) Oh well, at least I won't have to bother following the ceremony. Bruinsfan Tuesday at 01:29 AM Share Tuesday at 01:29 AM I'm just crossing my fingers the academy's show of support over the wildfires doesn't involve interpretive dance to Talking Heads' "Burning Down the House"! 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151550-the-97th-academy-awards/#findComment-8565555
