Shrug. This does not bother me one iota. The neonatologist at the hospital where my son spent the first few days of his life was Vietnamese, his English was fairly fractured but he was a wonderful doctor and was highly respected, for example. I met a fair number of professors and postdocs at MIT who mangled their pronouns or had thick accents. Brilliant people.

My SIL is Brazilian and has been in the US for more than 25 years and none of us can understand a word she says. I can understand Brian and Ingrid better than I can understand her. Even my brother, her husband, is mystified. We do a lot of nodding and smiling at her

I always give gifts from Penzey's spices, for friends who like to cook. I live in beautiful Salem MA, and we have a great candy company called Harbor Sweets that's a never fail for friends from far away. Where do you go year after year?
