Just finished the first episode and looking forward to more!

I like Suzanne and her lively personality so far, but really do not understand this fixation she has with her partner being a UGA Bulldogs fan. Of all the things to look for in a romantic partner, that's at the top of her list? I do, however, completely understand her not wanting to date someone with teenage kids at this stage of her life.

Not really feeling Nate so far. He got set up with such a lovely woman that he shared so much in common with, but did not seem nearly as into her as she was into him. He said he took issue with her being a religious person while he's more spiritual, but he was the one who asked her to pray together before their meal!

Anise is such a beautiful and accomplished woman and I felt so awful for her being set up with that total OGRE George. Making all those gross comments and asking her all those inappropriate questions...I give her credit for sticking it out as long as she did. The second that man told me I couldn't have the honey butter rolls because he was "looking out for me" you can bet I would have ordered a couple baskets of them along with my Uber ride home!

On episode 4, so my observations so far:

Anise is such a fierce woman, in every way. George can rot in the hottest part of hell. Yuck. But as an Atlanta resident, I can sadly report that there are a million of him here.

Suzanne is adorable, but the Bulldog stuff is too much. I understand allegiance to teams, frats, etc, but at a certain point, you gotta get some perspective.

Pam is hilarious. I love me a raspy, smoky, rough around the edges southern white woman.

Nate...I don't even know. I'm predisposed to hate on que dogs on GP, but even without that, his codependent relationship with his ex is a PROBLEM. Good luck to the unfortunate woman who tries to get in the middle of those two.

Lori. I'm gonna hold your hand when I say this. I'm a young auntie, so I get it, but I need middle age black women to be released from the clutches of those cat burglar ass glasses. Ty POF had me cackling on their date with how attracted he was to her nitpicking.

Now Nate has a hang-up with Anise being a few years older than him. Never mind that she looks fantastic for 62 and he actually gives off way older energy than she does. At this point I'm convinced he'll find something wrong with any date because the baby mama bestie is already the woman for him.

I’m enjoying this, up to ep 4. I googled Pam and she’s fudging her history a tad, yes she was married to the lead singer of Humble Pie, but she was not his wife when he died, his third wife was. That said she must have some amazing stories from that time period. I think she would tire most guys out pretty quickly with the frenetic energy. 

Anise is simply stunning, I hope she finds someone worthy. I’m going back and forth on Suzanne, one moment I really like her and the next she grates. Nate? Should probably just marry the ex girlfriend and get on with it.

And I noticed in the flash forwards I’m pretty sure a girl I went to high school with is going to be on, so kind of can’t wait to see that.

Binged the series this weekend.

I'm almost 63,  and some of these people look old.  Suzanne looks way older than anyone in my friend group.  She looks like some of the 75+ year olds in my women's group.  

Anise looks amazing, more like what I'd expect most of these women to look.  

Suzanne looks older than Pam, who I can't watch.  Can Pam not sit up straight, even in a restaurant?

Suzanne grates on me so much with her constant open-mouthed loud smile, continued repetition of "daddy's" stupid toast, and ridiculous insistence that a guy must be a Bulldog, that I'm picking on her more than I should.

I.....expected more from this series.  Being in this age group, I was excited about this.  Like ABC's "Golden" shows, it disappoints.

The show is basically “Black don’t crack” evidence. 

I thought it was really interesting that Suzanne acknowledges that her late husband is the love of her life and a new partner would be more if a companion. It’s a dynamic I hadn’t considered. Totally agree with her about not dating someone with kids still at home.

This here.  I ain't wanna be rude, but it's her easy manner, genuine smile and quirky young but at the same time oldish wardrobe that really help.  She reminds me of a compilation of all the sweet n' spicy, hilarious southern belles I've ever met.  But yes, the physical is presenting about 10 years older.  The lipstick layers.  The space shoes that she referred to as high heels?  Girl just why?  She got ready for bed and I was like well cot-damn, maybe dudes are right about this after all.  She looked 110% more beautiful with no makeup and a messy pony.  But shit I spent Saturday night cleaning my closets out so lemme g'on ahead and shut up.  I liked Frank but when he said one of the kids was under 18, she didn't even have to tell us.  Swing and a miss bruh.  It's my own dating policy too.  And he called her baby on the first date, which....man-dependent, I either love or detest for all of us.  Love love LOVED Avery and agreed with Logan, if you really like somebody that dumbass college football requirement wouldn't even come up.  I was glad to see her acknowledge that the pace was a little too quick for her.  I had the feeling that that meant he was too physically assertive and she just didn't want to say that.  Relatable content lol.  Jeff.  Nice guy, but *yawn*.

George and Anise.  Lemme just say that my personal opinion about date wear or how you appear in public generally is generally conservative.   One body part at a time.  So bring tiddies out if the rest of you is covered or bring arms or legs out if the rest of you is covered or it can be tighter than a scuba suit if all of you is covered, whatever,  just as long as it's both flattering and tasteful.  I'll come back to this in a sec.  My only hope for George is that he can intake how absolutely cringe he is, then either fix that shit or stick to the rivers and the lakes that he's used to.   Lemme see if I can remember this properly.   He told Anise he could see she had a little ghetto in her heart.  He lives in Chattanooga but *fucks around* in Atlanta.  He refused the honey butter rolls on her behalf.  Asked if she'd had any work done.  The final thing he said about loving to watch her walk away was 98% how disgusting men can be and 2% that her outfit was giving objectification.  Chest on the table, life saving thighs out and a pocketbook that was finna be all the way unclasped once she sat down.  Her body is crazy but it wouldn'tve looked good on a 20 year old.    Anise and Bill.  I loved me some Bill.  Heavily shaggable.   But she wasn't ready.  Sadly also relatable. 

Nate has OCD, he just needs to decide whether to take Ritalin or ask his future wife to put away her stuff while he goes to clean the garbage cans again.  His future wife is not Jackie btw, that's how we (women) think.  She's funny, he respects her opinion and they get along well.  From a male perspective, would he hit?  I'm sure of it.  Would he want to publicly declare her as his woman?  No.  She's not his physical type and never was.  If there's anything problematic about their relationship it's that it's close in a way that's too intimate for what they are.  I thought Letrecia was pretty but slightly judgmental for her/our age.  Whatever boxes he's checking, chiiiiiiile, keep the report card to your damn self.  That's your thought bubble, he's got his own.  I almost never think this is true, but in this case it applies.  Nate was intimidated by Anise's accomplishments.  He used his lifestyle and not wanting to be with an older woman to justify rejecting her, but I'm glad he did.  I didn't think he was for her.   And bigger tings were on the way lol.   One of the only things I liked about Nate was his taste in flowers, his color choices were gorgeous.  Speaking of gorgeous, when he met Lisa, I was wondering when he was gone mention that the first thing on his list is a woman with formal education.  As soon as he saw her, I said mmhmm.  Aint shit.  Lol.  The only thing that hemmed him up was the kids living at home.  Not mad at him for that.  I think Michelle was his perfect match, but he can't get past imperfection.  I would've loved if his wife came on the teevee to tell us what happened. 

Watching Pam with Robert was excruciating.  I thought she was drunk at first.  I understand nervous, she should've just stopped mid sentence and admitted that to him.  They weren't compatible regardless so I guess it doesn't matter.  Had some hope for her with Paul but I couldn't get a read on whether he liked her or not.  Dwight.  Friend zone for both of them.  He was charming though.  Pam needs a Jimmy Buffet, just a grown ass hippie with a van and some stock options who loves animals and craft beer.

Lori.  I liked her.  She's a little too overbearing filling every moment up with personality and she doesn't need to do all that.  Lay your burdens down sis, let him carry em.   I didn't get her fixation on Felton because I feel as though by this age, the mystery lessens.  Men move in the order of their priority.  If he's not moving towards you, it ain't you bae.  Dassit.  Like who likes you. The guy for her is Deacon dude.  He's not her style though so she finna keep going for Walmart brand Zaddies like whasshisname.  She's a style over substance girl and that's disappointing to watch.  Ty didn't remember talking to her a couple years ago so, no. 

Greg and Kelly.  She reminds me of Charo lol.  He seems like a nice man, I hope he finds what he's looking for.

Anise and Willie.   Now these two?  Good job Dwayna.  Show these churn what grown and sexy sposed to look like.   6'3"/210.  Come through Sweet Jesus! Anise Patrice made me giggle every time but I thought it was cute that he was obviously a little nervous.  "Big Willie"  I said now, girl.  Then she switched to "Mr. Willie" and I was done.  LOL!   I love the chemistry. I love that younger people in the restaurant turned around to look at them.   *Chef's kiss*. 

I liked this, I hope they do a Season 2.

I’m a lot younger than this group but the older I get, the older a potential man’s kids have to be. My rule right now is double digit-aged. I have 100% shut things down because a man has young kids. When I was still on the apps I saw a 58-year-old (I was feeling cheap and didn’t pay for premium, which would have allowed me to filter ages), whose profile said he had four kids, three grown and one 10-year-old, and he understood if that was a deal-breaker.

I flagged the “baby” on the first date and I didn’t like it. I don’t think Suzanne reacted to it but I flinched.

As someone who is both busty and leggy, as my grandmother used to say, I agree. It’s like that saying that you should take off one accessory before leaving the house. I saw Anise’s outfit and I thought it was a little much. She’s a baddie though. I was like “this is why I work out! So I can look like that in my 60s!”

I’m watching the third episode and Anise messing up her daughter’s middle school white crush had me rolling. “Was there ever a Chris?” “I think Michael went to prison.” DEAD.

I really enjoyed this and y the end I came to really like all of them. 

Anise & Willie forever! What a stunning couple those two are, I hope it works out, the fire between them almost made me want to try dating again. And I could watch a whole show of Anise and her daughter, Dwayna’s whole personality was just amazing! 

I didn’t call Suzanne and Avery at all, but I’ll be damned they seemed to really like each other. Go figure.

Nate is a nice guy but he’s never going to find anyone. Lori probably wont either. They both just seem to want something way beyond their grasp, I felt so sorry for Lori chasing Felton when it was super obvious he was not into her, and that poor other guy that showed up to her party I just felt bad for, he seemed like a nice guy but Lori seems to want some “Hollywood” ideal and that type of guy is never going to be into her.

Pam grew on me, by the end she seemed actually fun. Greg? Jury’s out?

I liked this, it was sweet, they didn’t go out of their way to make anyone look bad, it was a refreshing little bit of tv.

Avery is a pleasant mix of frat and good ole boy.

Nate's rigidity is a turnoff.  He is intolerant of anyone invading his space in any way. Jacquline most likely uses the restroom at Starbucks nearest to Nate's house rather break the paper sash he places on the toilet seat.

Michelle, pack up your shrimp pizza and eat it in peace away from Nate.

Any updates if Anise and Mr. Willie are still together?

Lori is always looking over your shoulder at  parties looking for a "cooler " person across the room.

She plows through people including her nice kids.

I typically don’t watch reality tv because all the manufactured drama gives me secondhand embarrassment but I was sick and bored and thought seniors would have less overblown drama. And in some ways they did but, but this also reminded me that despite saying they want change, a lot of people are stuck in their ways and like it that way. 

Because some of these dates were rough. 

Especially for Anise. I felt like the show was trying to use her for a cheap comedy/drama because why were her first two dates a rude loser (I would’ve been out of there so fast the cameras would’ve shown smoke the second he talked about those honey buns like what! this isn’t the biggest loser and I’ll be damned if a bad build geezer tells me what to eat!) and a guy with a racial fetish? Yuck lol. I hated that for her and watching Logan try to save face by claiming Anise wasn’t being open was wild. As if Logan herself would be open to Idiot 1 & Idiot 2! She tried it. Anise was gorgeous, body banging, and looked incredible for her age. I’m glad her daughter eventually picked someone who at least saw that she was the full package. Because I was really starting to get annoyed at her lacklustre dates. And while I like her final match, Big Willie is a bit…lemme just say the elevator doesn’t go all the way to the top floor lol.

I know he was nervous but this cracked me up! Especially with that ‘smooth’ voice he kept putting on. But what black woman or woman in general wants to grow up a man? Especially in their golden years ?? She needed to be for real. But Lori did too because it was clear that Fedora guy wasn’t into her and I hated watching her eagerly take his crumbs. At least he finally told her he wasn’t feeling it and released her. She’s fun and knows what she wants but is also easily taken in by appearances & didn’t seem quite ready for an experience like this tbh.

I liked her, but I missed her age and until reading this board I thought she was a nice looking 77. She really does seem older but she’s still gorgeous. I really liked how was firm she was about not wanting to be a ‘nurse or a purse’. It’s smart to be aware of the liars & users at all ages but especially as a senior. I don’t really like the guy she went with in the end because he came off a bit smarmy, but they did have a lot of chemistry.

Unlike Pam & her dates. But she was a bit stuck in the past and off in her own world anyway. She seemed very lonely to me and like she was looking for people, period, not necessarily love. Glad she found an outlet in the end. 

I thought the men were superficial and their scenes were my least favourite part. Especially that one guy who wasn’t trying to hear it when Logan reminded him that age/life meant people wouldn’t always look perfect. Skipped all his scenes because he annoyed me so much. Just shallow. Kinda like Nate, who I found to be a major lame.

Same. I said where did your strict list go sir lol. Sure, he didn’t full on state his preferences (except for the ‘long flowing hair’ comment which made me laugh because it was clearly a lacefront lol) but it was obvious he liked them lightskinned and complaint. He knew how to act the part with all his dates but I could tell he wasn’t feeling Anise from the jump and I knew Michelle’s liveliness (calling a grown woman feisty is so silly and very junior high) would eventually bother him. They dodged a bullet though, because he is overly rigid and unfun.

Yeah I thought it was obvious that they had a very brother sister dynamic, and that he wasn’t into her physically at all. Even how he described their relationship was very blasé. She seems cool though, I’d say she should cut the cord and find someone who appreciates her, but she seems fine with their relationship. I’d be chewing at the bit to escape from boredom in her place though.

A nice, light watch. Only thing that gave me pause was just how into traditional gender roles everyone was. There was a lot of talk of ‘letting men be men’ and submissive female behaviour and it threw me. Maybe it’s the generational divide, because most of these people could be my grandparents, but I thought it was interesting that most of the women were so accomplished in life but were also willing submit to a man and let him make the moves/plan the dates. To me it’s one thing to want to be able to let your guard down around a significant another but a whole other to want a man to take charge. That’s a bit much. But I know things are different when they were young. I did like that they loosened up a bit in the end listened to their daughters/granddaughters about how it wasn’t ‘desperate’ to make the first move though. 

The scenes with their kids were my favourite part. Lori seemed to have a good relationship with her kids, despite being a bit overbearing, Savannah and her daughter were sweet, & Pam and her grandchild have a lot of fun together. But my fave was Anise & her daughter. They were so funny and genuine, I just loved watching their interactions. And they both gave me long lost Braxton sisters, very Towanda-esque. Lori also looked like a celeb to me and it wasn’t until I finished the show that I figured it out—Tamara Tunie, (Law & Order SVU) especially in her younger pictures. 
 

edit: having read/watched interviews, it seems none of the couples lasted which I kind of expected, but it seemed to be a positive experience for all of them, which is great.
