S01.E06: Happy’s House

Bobbie agrees to take Isabella to Happy's house in search of a connection to their late father, leading Bobbie to worry about what they may find; Gabby hopes to strike it rich by searching through Happy's penny collection looking for a rarity.

Does MSP ever get tired of the dumb blonde routine (“They are all the same except for the date”)? Does she have any kind of a decent voice? It would be fun to see them sing together once in a while.
It was nice for the kid to discover she wasn’t completely forgotten. The bar scene with Emmet and the accountant was hilarious.

While I think the cast is starting to gel (with the exception of the Isabella actress IMO), I still don't get where they're going with the dad.  So, he showed up at ther college graduation?  How does that make a huge difference (or 'fix' the problem as indicated in the episode)?  He still never acknowledged her, met her, or forewarned Bobby about having a half-sister who was about to inherit half of the business?  And since I'm gripping-how come Bobby (or anybody) didn't go to the house since the father's death?

I continue to watch as I really want to like this.  But, there are a lot of plot holes that need to be fixed and they need to find a way to either better incorporate Isabella or else ease her out of the show.

I'm glad Bobbie and Isabella are developing a good relationship, but the affection did seem to happen suddenly in this episode compared to the previous ones.

The football discussion scene between Emmett and Steve was really funny. I was wondering where they are located in Tennessee, and it sounds like they are around Knoxville (UT's main campus is located there), since it is about 100 miles from Johnson City. I noticed earlier in the episode that Emmett's water mug had the orange and white checkerboard, so I knew he was a UT fan. Nice callout to Josh Heupel too. (I hope they didn't jinx the team with the mention; they're having a good season.)

So Happy’s house is empty and Isabella first had to scrounge to live in a motel and then Bobby took here in…when there is a whole house that is unoccupied??

And I would be really upset to learn my sperm donor came to my graduation, but never wanted anything to do with me.

Right?  Who got the house?  And why haven't they been back?  If they're going to sell, they need to be clearing it out.  So many questions about the house situation.

Happy still seems like a real asshole not acknowledging a daughter & sneaking to her graduation. I’m sure they will make up a reason tho that makes him the good guy for staying away.

I still hate Isabella the show would be so much better without her.

They need to chill with Gabby. Too over the top.

I don’t even know why I’m still watching lol.

Doesn't Bobbie wonder who Isabella's mother is?

Right? I forget how long ago it's supposed to have been by that point as to Happy having died - did they even specify? - but it totally looked as though the guy had died that very day. Only on TV can people simply ignore such major things as dealing with a deceased loved one's house - even if Isabella hadn't been in the picture, Bobbie would still have to be paying taxes on the property, packing things up for family or donations, deciding whether to put the house on the market or look for renters, whatever. Time is money IRL.

As for Happy not wanting anything to do with Isabella, I don't know if that's the case. From the little we've gleaned thus far, Happy has kept Isabella's childhood drawings, been to her graduation (and perhaps other events unknown to the two daughters) and certainly done his best to ensure Isabella was provided for financially after his death, and perhaps also before. The tiny bit that Isabella revealed about her mother suggested some questionable personality traits/parenting (such as giving Isabella the cold shoulder whenever she did something her mom didn't like?) I'm thinking that perhaps the mom made the decision she didn't want Isabella to know her dad, for whatever reason, and that's the reason they didn't meet in life. (And don't forget it's a TV show, so we sort of need a more interesting backstory if at all possible, haha.)
