So they’re going to give Liz a lot more of a role than being a nosy neighbor.

It doesn’t hurt to be married to the show creator and runner.

Does her infidelity story arc really fit with the rest of the show though?

Plus they dress her and she acts like she’s still in her mid 40s, much older than the actress — at least the cosmetic surgery isn’t as jarring as it was in the first season.

Alice quashes her beef with summer just like that.  But then Jimmy sees her apparently having a grand time with Not Roy Kent.  They really expanded Alice’s role compared to season 1.

But all the supporting characters are getting bigger subplots.  Not sure that’s necessarily a good thing.  The show kind of rode in on Jason Siegel and Harrison Ford, the best-known actors in the cast — and Ford used to be a big box office star.

Most of the characters are so precious, trying so hard to be likable.  I’m not a fan of the Liz character or the actress but give her credit for not worrying at all about playing a likable character.

I just re-watched the premier episode of the Drew Carey show and she was GORGEOUS back in the day, so it must really be hard for her to get older (like for all of us) but we’re not in the public eye.

It is not. I have seen it in too many other shows like Resident Alien. I hope I am wrong but there is a really crappy trend towards reducing the leads screen time and increasing the secondary characters screen time in a few comedies I have been watching. This show has really good secondary characters, but not seeing that much of Jimmy and Paul this episode is hopefully a one off and not a new trend in this series.

Damon Wayans Jr. is certainly easy on the eyes, but the constant comments about him being the hottest man in the world were a bit...much. (When the writers came up with this dialogue, were they expecting someone like Michael B. Jordan to be cast in the role?)

I felt bad for Gabby that she didn't get to sleep with him. "We're covered in sand" was a pretty bad reason not to go through with it. I mean, showers exist!

I've grown tired of the "everyone gangs up on Jimmy" dynamic. When the other characters were going on about the hotter men Gabby has been with, I kept thinking, "If Liz or Brian ever got subjected to this treatment, they'd have a meltdown."

Speaking of Brian, I'm very glad that he and his husband didn't go through with the adoption. But them being offered a baby immediately, that's going to be born within a day,  might be the most unrealistic thing I've ever seen on this show - and that includes the posh lifestyles that Jimmy and Gabby are able to afford.

Jimmy seeing Alice and Brian with Brett Goldstein's character was a good dramatic moment, but I really don't understand how it got this far. Why would Brian introduce Alice to her mother's killer without even discussing it with Jimmy - his best friend? The secrecy never made sense to me.

Paul gave Liz terrible advice. There was no reason for her to tell Derek about her kiss. She felt guilty about it and she should, but by telling Derek she dragged him down with her.
