ItCouldBeWorse Wednesday at 01:38 AM Share Wednesday at 01:38 AM I was prepared to find out that the chaplain was actually Jewish and didn't want to say so (his sect was "private") because St. Denis has mostly Christian patients. It's true that Gehazi and Elisha are from the Hebrew Bible, but anyone could make a mistake, but it would explain not knowing about Paul. But that was ruined with the fake divinity school. That's straight up fraud. This episode was very good. I really like David Alan Grier in this role. I don't believe that that giant cross would have been allowed in the surgical suite. 2 Link to comment
Chit Chat Wednesday at 02:55 AM Share Wednesday at 02:55 AM That was a fun episode! Alex's interest in horoscopes was just for fun and a daily diversion from the madness, then Bruce comes along and takes it to another level! He was all in! After his initial snarky comments, I thought he was just showing interest as a way to make fun of her, but he really seemed to take it seriously. I suppose the rift between the chaplain and Matt will become a running joke, kind of like the relationship between the Janitor and JD on Scrubs was portrayed. Link to comment
Irlandesa Wednesday at 03:28 AM Share Wednesday at 03:28 AM Of the three episodes, I thought this was the best one. I too am a little disappointed they went the predictable route with the fake chaplain being antagonistic to Matt. The horoscope story was fun. Alison Tolman is so good and has such good chemistry with her cast mates. 2 Link to comment
iMonrey Wednesday at 03:57 AM Share Wednesday at 03:57 AM I got a big laugh out of Joyce saying she keeps the Chaplain away from the kids. Oh wait that's Priests. Not all of them but some of them. LOL. Did anyone else do a double take when they showed the Chaplain? I would have sworn it was Steve Carell. Younger, of course, but looks SO much like him. It's a cute show. Not my favorite show but it's a cute show. 3 Link to comment

shura Wednesday at 02:46 PM Share Wednesday at 02:46 PM I noticed they've fixed the jerking camera work. Wonder how someone thought it was a good idea in the first place. 11 hours ago, Chit Chat said: I suppose the rift between the chaplain and Matt will become a running joke, kind of like the relationship between the Janitor and JD on Scrubs was portrayed. Or we will never see the chaplain again (unless they find a way to have Steve Carell play his father in a future episode). It really wasn't very virtuous of him to (a) lie about his credentials and (b) to hold a grudge like that against someone who caught him. It's not clear how this Catholic hospital hired him to begin with. From what I'm reading, to be a chaplain one needs to be certified by some official organization, and that often requires a divinity degree. So he must have produced some certificate when he applied, right? And now Joyce can just hire him back and the hospital's Catholic supervisory board will be okay with that? Have they said where this show is set that they have rattlesnakes slithering around biting surgeons? California? I keep questioning Bruce's qualifications. I probably wouldn't want someone operating on me if he may think that maybe he should cancel the surgery because Uranus is in the wrong phase for a Capricorn or whatever. But I did like the demonstration of why it's not a good idea to have surgeons help with carrying heavy objects. 1 Link to comment

MaryMitch Wednesday at 04:47 PM Share Wednesday at 04:47 PM Well, the cross was just too too ridiculous, even for a comedy that is supposed to be ridiculous. But the rest of the show was pretty good. I liked how the Chaplain wasn't all "forgive and forget". 1 Link to comment

And it must be in the more northern part of Oregon, because in the pilot they got shakes from Burgerville and that’s not a thing in southern oregon. Link to comment

txhorns79 Thursday at 02:13 AM Share Thursday at 02:13 AM (edited) I didn't love the episode. The giant cross made for a funny sight gag, but the joke just went on too long and got stupid. I also didn't understand why the Hospital Administrator would bring the nurse with her when she was going to fire the Chaplain. Edited Thursday at 03:59 AM by txhorns79 1 Link to comment
