CrazyInAlabama November 15 Share November 15 (edited) As usual I have no clue about the safety bake dish. The dish was actually eight lime cream puffs with lime curd and bright green craqqulin, this was made by Ronan and Kaitelyn are safe. They go into the semifinals. Elimination bake created by Yolanda. If that baker tries to serve Yolanda a leaning cake he's not going to get eliminated, he'll be thrown out of baking. I love Jesse and Justin's cake. Kieran and Janusz's cake looks wonderful, layers are perfect. Lenore and Jessica's is lovely, but seems to be crooked in the layers, and it's all lemon. Daniel and Becky's is naked sides, with uneven layers. Cake looks too tall, and too dense, looks like it didn't rise and bake enough. Bake was: six layer lemon rainbow comic book cake, with fondant icing, Right guess was Lenore and Jessica. Yolanda says their cake was the best decorated cake ever on Crime Scene Kitchen. Eliminated team: Jesse and Justin. (I would have eliminated Daniel and Becky, their cake was underbaked, and leaning). Edited November 15 by CrazyInAlabama 6 Link to comment
Grizzly November 15 Share November 15 I intensely dislike Daniel's painted nails. The black is so distracting. I didn't quite catch why Jesse and Justin were sent home. Did they use the wrong flavors? 4 Link to comment

I thought (hoped) the brother and sister would be going. I was surprised that little was said about the order of colors during judging. I thought everyone knows ROYGBIV and most of them did something else. I'd never heard of a comic book cake so I didn't get how they decided to use fondant on the outside or not. Maybe the order was less important than some other mistakes so they just didn't spend time on it. Link to comment

I'm not sure what those are. Did anyone else notice that at least one team tasted stuff during one of the investigations? I thought the rules were they could only look and smell. 3 Link to comment
mertensia November 15 Share November 15 I think they can taste if they're given permission. I suspect Team Leaning Cake will be next. Except for the flavor I thought this was easy. 2 Link to comment

They also used the maple syrup, although it was unopened in the CSK. ~~~ Besides the cake flavor, I thought this was one of the easiest CSK ever. They literally showed them a picture, called it a comic cake, and described the icing. 4 Link to comment

Did they use the wrong flavors? I thought Jesse/Justin and Daniel/Becky were equally wrong. The cake was a lemon buttercream rainbow layered cake with filled with vanilla bean swiss meringue buttercream decorated in a comic book style. Jesse/Justin made a naked buttermilk cake flavored with ginger and maple and filled with lemon curd. The colours were in the wrong order. Daniel/Becky made a naked vanilla cake filled with vanilla bean swiss meringue buttercream and strawberries. The colours were in reverse order. Although Daniel/Becky got the filling correct, they added strawberries. Their cake was too tall, it was dense, and the bottom layer was squashed. Jesse/Justin's cake had the wrong filling but they did use lemon. They also added ginger and maple. It was called "wonderful" by Curtis. I would have sent home Daniel and Becky. The judges seemed to give them credit for the correct filling and that may be why they advanced? However, their cake was vanilla instead of lemon and they added a wrong ingredient that wasn't even on the list of possible flavors. I would have dinged them for adding the extraneous strawberries. I would also have dinged them for the cake being too tall and too dense and too squashed. Jesse and Justin's cake was also the wrong flavor but at least they used lemon. Maybe the tube piping also did them in. But I thought their colours, although in the wrong order, looked better than Daniel and Becky's. 6 Link to comment

Their cake looked better than Daniel & Becky's but it seems that D&B did a little better with the clues. 12 hours ago, mlp said: I thought everyone knows ROYGBIV and most of them did something else. I'd only ever heard of it on the Jeopardy forum here and have no idea what order the colors go in the spectrum. I think they based the order of the layers on the illustration in the cookbook, at least the ones who saw it did. Or maybe not. I was looking at my computer part of the time. 11 hours ago, Quilt Fairy said: Did anyone else notice that at least one team tasted stuff during one of the investigations? I noticed that and had hoped for an explanation. 11 hours ago, Quilt Fairy said: They used the ginger in their cake and I guess it was only used in the ginger shots. Didn't they also use maple because they didn't realize the bottle of maple syrup hadn't been opened? 35 minutes ago, blackwing said: I would have sent home Daniel and Becky. The illustration in the cookbook did use ROY G BIV, pulling out the indigo to give you a 6 layer cake that was red-orange-yellow-green-blue-violet from top to bottom. It was very obvious that the blueish layers were on the bottom. Becky and Daniel had the order correct but upside down with the violet on the top and the red on the bottom. Jesse and Justin's layers seemed sort of random, unless it was just a failure of how much food coloring they used. I also would have sent Daniel and Becky home and was shocked when the other team's name was called instead. Lastly, when I see a note that says "must serve 8" I would think that the dessert should be big enough to be cut into 8 pieces, not that you need 8 individual desserts. 3 1 Link to comment

Thanks. Like I said, there were moments when I looked away from the screen and that must've been one of them. Link to comment
