wenhiku November 2 Share November 2 Very uncomfortable episode. This is speculation on my part, not a spoiler, and was not sure if I could put it here. Spoiler I am wondering if the PM's wife is the mastermind of all this and her husband is not clued in to everything going on. I don't recall her character appearing last season, but I could just be forgetting. 4 2 Link to comment
KittyQ November 3 Share November 3 Stuart saying that these kinds of things didn't happen when "the Vales" were there made me wonder if maybe all kinds of things did happen, but the then-ambassador just wasn't clued in enough to realize it. Also, Kate and Hal have a really different relationship. Even in an argument, I can't imagine saying some of those things to my husband, and I'm sure he wouldn't react in such a "civilized" way. I think that's the Jane Austen cut. 3 9 Link to comment
Zaffy November 5 Share November 5 Do you also go pee while your significant other brushes his/her teeth only to have a very serious conversation with him/her? Was there any point on this scene except from showing us Keri on the throne? 4 Link to comment
A.Ham November 5 Share November 5 I found that scene to be… Unhygienic. I don’t want to rewatch, but I’m pretty sure she got up without cleaning herself. And then she barely grazed her fingers in the water for a second, no soap. I get that they probably wanted to skip showing us her hoo-ha, but no proper handwashing? Between her hair looking unwashed and unbrushed, and the deodorant check last season, she plays a bit fast and loose with personal hygiene. 5 Link to comment

It was either to show us the intimacy of their relationship or to emphasize how sloppy and uncouth Kate is. 2 Link to comment

I think this is something TV or movies use to indicate how comfortable people are with each other. On a personal level, I would never do this unless it were a dire emergency, and even then, I would be yelling, "Get out!" :-) 4 1 Link to comment

It's probably both. But it's also possible that they may have stayed in less-than-ideal locations in the past that require getting over some of their hangups afforded by more industrialized places. Landing a placement in the UK, Europe or some parts of Asia usually comes after years of working in less developed and more dangerous places. I believe it was alluded to in this episode when a guy came in and said his previous assignment and then mentioned he is now in London. Kate makes the comment that it was 'quite a leap.' Every time I see this kind of scenes on Tv (or movies) I am pretty much sure the director has a pee pee fetish! Cause really, people with their status do not behave like this. 1 hour ago, Irlandesa said: But it's also possible that they may have stayed in less-than-ideal locations in the past that require getting over some of their hangups afforded by more industrialized places. I am pretty much sure they have toilets in Bagdad. Link to comment
astrohip November 9 Share November 9 Ok, I'm missing something here. It seemed to me, after they talked to Roylin in the Embassy, that she made it seem like the PM's wife is involved. She didn't say it overtly, but she pretty directly hinted at it. But then after that, they all left thinking it was the PM. Did I read something into this that's not there? I'm off to watch E3 now, maybe they address it. Remember, no spoilers beyond E2 in this thread. In fact, you don't need to respond at all, I'll hopefully finish tomorrow, and can discuss in the finale thread. Link to comment

merylinkid November 21 Share November 21 Grove really just suddenly marched out a funeral to try to grab Roylin? Really the man has no self-control. The scene where Ronnie's coffin is loaded on the transport hit hard. Didn't know diplomatic service got the flag on the coffin/presentation too. Do they really or was that moment for the show? Also seriously it was a couple days and the first phone call to Ronnie's family was "sorry dead?" Link to comment
