I swear I have never seen Meghan before tonight.

Whit has always been so confident, very surprised to see her struggling and failing to communicate.

Kyle is funny.

I think these punishments for the losing team are totally unfair.  I’m against any kind of punishment that has the potential to injure contestants.

I’m not a fan of Egypt whatsoever.  When watching him in previous weeks, he seemed to do nothing more than yell at his team, and he didn’t appear to be cooking much of anything.  I think that’s the reason his team turned against him.  He seemed to be more interested in berating his team, rather than cooking. And seeing how much he fell apart tonight, I’m shocked how a few words from Gordon turned him around——he came out grinning like nothing happened.

I’m a big fan of Whit and I want to see Team Red do better each week.

I'm surprised at Gordon. Usually he's not so forgiving of behavior like Egypt's. It usually wouldn't matter how deserving someone is, if they don't have the confidence to be his head chef somewhere and want to back out of the competition that's reason enough all by itself for him to send them home. Egypt never impressed me as being THAT great that he would deserve Gordon going against his usual standards to get him to stay. Egypt actually impressed me even less with his behavior in this episode than in previous ones. I see the way he blames the other chefs as a projection of his own insecurity. It's dysfunctional and not constructive in a kitchen, especially from a head chef. He thinks the others are not taking the competition seriously but that's just his misinterpretation of confidence he doesn't have himself.

Gordon says he doesn't know why the other chefs have it in for Egypt but has he asked any of them why? It's kind of insulting to them that Gordon is dismissing their concerns without getting to the bottom of them first. I am usually one to want to root for the person getting bullied or ostracized or whatever Gordon thinks the other chefs are doing to him, but it's just not adding up here and I feel like this whole thing is just some kind of reality show BS.

Gordon was very nice to Egypt there for sure.

While the team could be nicer to Egypt, he isn't the great guy he claims to be. Only Anthony seems to like him. I was surprised to see Whit mess up.

Correct me if I'm wrong - again ;-) - but didn't Gordon use the term "I don't know why the other chefs on your team are picking on you" when talking to Egypt?  That infers (to me) that Gordon had already decided that the other chefs were ganging up on Egypt unfairly.  I know Gordon probably watches the videos filmed at the end of each day, and already knows why they weren't fond of Egypt, but his choice of words seemed odd to me.

I thought most of the burgers looked really good.  And, the guest judge really seems to know his burgers and I appreciated his comments.  Also, that in one pair nobody got a point.  Ouch.

I think there has to be way more going on with Egypt as normally Gordon would yell at him while he left.  I can only judge based on what we see, but in this instance it seems like we haven't been shown everything.

I was glad that both teams did well during service.  The sliders looked amazing.  Guess I'll have to go out this weekend and get a good burger or slider as they looked so good!

First, I ain't evah, evah, EVAH going to eat Bambi or Bugs Bunny! Yeah sure, no Rabbit, but there was venison!

And they all looked...so not appetizing and difficult to eat!

That said, wha...???? Gordon had another baby??? Is this number six? Duuuude.

Still watching service and Gordon's giving Whit a pep talk...

Rumor has it that anytime he was found to be unfaithful, his wife got to have another baby.

All these reality shows and their homesick contestants.  This cast has maybe been gone a week and they’re breaking down because they miss their families?  What’s with all the crying this season too?  A bunch of weaklings if you ask me.

I also don’t see what Gordon sees in Egypt.  In the challenge Egypt says Kyle bit off more than he could chew by volunteering to do two dishes. If you’re so great Egypt, why didn’t you put your hand up?  Then Egypt complained that Kyle didn’t get a single point between two dishes.  Again, why didn’t you volunteer Egypt?  I wish Gordon just let him leave when he wanted to.

Gordon often acts clueless about what's going on behind the scenes on this show so I don't know if I believe he sees what's going on behind the scenes. I think he does whatever he or other TPTB think is best for the drama and ratings. I don't necessarily believe that there's some insider knowledge that the others are being unfair to Egypt. It looks like the show is going for the angle that Gordon sympathizes for him because he's also a new father and in other ways "has been in his shoes" but I'm not completely buying any of it. He has often kept chefs around just because they create drama with the other contestants.

Exactly, I was trying not to say it but that's exactly how I feel about it. I was keeping track of the filming schedule since this and next season were filmed back to back in August of this year in my area and I was actually shocked at how little time it took to film both seasons. It was widely covered on CT TV news. He was acting like he was gone a month, not a week.

Gordon is being uncharacteristically sympathetic to all the tears, which is bugging me because he had no problem calling older contestants on "Master Chef" "Old man" that need their "naptime". I just think it's an insincere effort to appeal to GenZ.

Color me mighty skeptical, but are we really supposed to believe that even Gordon won't be seeing his family (including newborn Jesse) for the two months that filming takes?  Sorry, but I'm just not buying that.  I believe that the cheftestants themselves are isolated during that time, and I'm sure that that's extremely difficult for them, but Gordon too?  I call bullshit on that.....

I know! I said "Where'd she come from?"

She’s been there all along. When Gordon gave her dish high marks, she still had that sourpuss face and when he said it was okay for her to smile, she came back with how she has “resting bitch face” a phrase I LOATHE. But it’s rare she cracks a smile, even when she or the team wins.

Filming one season did not take two months. It took maybe 2 months to film 2 seasons back to back. I live in CT and was keeping track, hoping to be lucky enough to get a ticket to the HK restaurant during filming but was unsuccessful. But I agree with you, no way would Gordon not be seeing his family and newborn during that time.

ETA: This confirms the timeline of filming:

I'm over Egypt too, and all the whiny crybabies who miss their families after what, a week? Two at most. We know the shows are taped back to back to back, not waiting a week in between so put on your adult pants (looking at the women too, here) and get over it. I do suppose Gordon sees something promising in Egypt, making an effort to keep him in HK, if he wasn't good I presume G would boot him out with a "Get outta my kitchen, you effing donkey!"
