S10.E09: Where Are You Mr. Oyster

Recommended Posts

Lauren & Nicole and Taylor & Katie have done such great jobs throughout the race.  It really will feel like such a gyp if, after all this, we get another expected men's team victory and Michael & Tyson win next week.  I could accept Colin & Matt, though, since at least they'd be something different if they won.

Glad to see Kevin & Gurleen go.  And apparently by less than five minutes.

Thank goodness Kevin and Gurleen are gone. Ugh, I can’t stand players that are overly impressed by their own alleged awesomeness.

I’m surprised they were actually just minutes from not being eliminated. Usually the editors make it look like the last two teams are really close, but they really aren’t. In this case, if Kevin had taken Gurleen’s advice to ask for directions they might not have been eliminated. Ruh-ruh.  What reality show will they turn up on next?

This. And I like all four remaining teams, but am so tired of alpha males winning these things.

I’d be good with either pair of women winning this, but if I have to pick a fave, then I’m cheering for the twins.

Like everyone else here, I am thrilled that Baby and Baby are gone. Obnoxious right to the end, with Kevin proclaiming that had they made it into the finals they would have won. Considering that they only won one leg, and three of the 4 teams going into the finals have won two each (with the Newfoundland guys having won one), that seems doubtful. But no one loves Kevin and Gurleen more than Kevin and Gurleen. Those two really do deserve each other.

I will be happy with whoever wins the final. I am pulling slightly more for the twins than the others, but really like all four teams. And I find both male teams to be nice, and in many ways sensitive guys. All the players remaining are a credit to Canada, and to the race.

Im sitting at a different table than everyone else because while I wanted Kevin and Gurleen gone, this wasnt the way.  You shoulnd't be allowed to run for the win if you dodn't finish one of the challenges and take a penatly.  Penalties in earlier rounds okay, but to get into the final, nope.  To me, Mike and Tyson didn't earn their spot into the final and I will be majorly pissed if they win this thing.

(Caught up over the weekend so I was a bit behind)

I had to laugh at the team getting lost and ending up in Nova Scotia. There's wrong and then there's being THAT wrong.  Sure they're self navigating, but you'd think you'd have some idea of where you're going (like by looking at the map and realizing you have to go north and Nova Scotia is south of where you are).

Plus, knowing the "Greater Moncton Romeo Leblanc International Airport/Aeroport International Romeo-Leblanc du Grand Moncton", to go north, you get on the highway outside the airport and stay on it. It eventually hits the coast and goes north.

The exit onto the TransCanada is the first major exit from the airport, one direction going to Nova Scotia, the other going to Fredericton. Looking at the maps, you might think that if you go on the TCH to the other end of the city and then take the 126 up to Miramichi it is similar/faster... but all in all, you're better off staying on NB-15 to NB-11 (Especially that time of year, when you don't have to worry about Parlee Beach traffic at Shediac), especially if you aren't familiar with the province. (Google says the 126 route is 15 minutes slower too)

I'm a little disappointed that they bailed on the task like that; but at that point in the race, race fatigue is certainly a factor, combined with another strange word memorization task. I almost wonder if the penalty should have been longer, but I guess the thinking is most teams will attempt before bailing at least. Jumping out right at the start was a smart move in that case. (And yeah I have absolutely NO ear for languages, so all the language tasks in this race in general, I'd have been screwed on. For this one I might have been a bit better because I've probably heard the words or syllables a lot growing up around here, but it wasn't a huge help).

It's a bit funny for such a small province, we had two navigation faults. First one team drove entirely the wrong way and added an extra province to the race. (At least they didn't make it to PEI too). And then the other team lost because they didn't get directions and obviously figured it was a small enough town they could figure things out on their own.
