possibilities May 13 Share May 13 If you don't talk to people about what is going on, you really can't spend your life resenting them for not knowing. I find both sisters horribly unlikable. By contrast, everyone in the town seems idealized. It seems clear Stockard Channing gave mom the morphine. Whether that gets discovered or not, I don't know. But with only 3 episodes, I don't see them packing her off to jail for the grand finale. Nobody seems to care what dad's deal is, which I find amusing. But I'm actually curious what he knew and what he thought about his wife being elsewhere and what their marriage actually was. I sure hope someone was feeding the cat after mom died. They didn't seem to discover her until they'd been there a while. I look askance at Paul for not mentioning the cat immediately, and making sure she was being cared for. 5 Link to comment
Daff May 13 Share May 13 Yes, it’s fairly evident “Dad” checked out years ago, dissociating himself from the family. Once found, the cat warmed up pretty quickly-they like to be in close proximity to the hand that fills the bowl. 4 Link to comment

She knows Mary stole the morphine from her though. 3 2 Link to comment
proserpina65 May 13 Share May 13 In the first episode I thought Becca was horribly immature. I kinda get why now but the thing is, she didn't have to do what her mother said when she had the breakdown. She could've (should've) told Ros. She didn't partly because I think she did enjoy keeping her sister out of the relationship with their mother as much as possible and still does. And don't get me started on the bullshit with the father not helping because he had to work. Ugh. 4 Link to comment

possibilities May 13 Share May 13 I don't know how they wrap it up in only one more episode. There are so many questions unanswered and so many stories untold. 2 Link to comment
Seelouis May 14 Share May 14 I hope they can answer at least some basic questions in the last episode - like how often was the mother away? Where did the husband and Becca think she was whenever she went away? From what Pete and Cathy say, it seems like she was practically living on the Isle of Man. How could she do that without arousing some suspicion? 6 Link to comment
dancingdreamer May 14 Share May 14 Obviously, Mary was unhappy, and found life better on the Isle of Man.Then she met Pete, who shared a love of all the things she loved.. She kept all those photos on the wall, because she loved her girls, she was just afraid to tell them about her new life. You really can live in the same house, with siblings, and experience life very differently. It isn't until you're much older you realise it. My father had two jobs, we hardly saw him, but later when we had conversations, he knew he'd missed out on a lot , but he had rent to pay, mouths to feed, and he didn't want us to go without. 2 Link to comment
Quilt Fairy May 14 Share May 14 Maybe my perception is off, but when I saw the trailer for this series, I thought it was a comedy or a humorous drama. Link to comment
12catcrazy May 14 Share May 14 The two sisters seem to have come from a very dysfunctional family. The older sister got the hell out of there as fast as she could and the younger one became the caretaker and yet another keeper of secrets. So far it also looks as if she is following in her mother's path of having an unhelpful husband and two very different daughters. Maybe the older daughter is supposed to be more like her father in the way that her life revolves around her job and she sticks her head in the sand. Yet she also seems more practical and "take charge" where her sister seems more emotional. This show is obviously more about the sisters and their relationship, and the story of their mother and her friends on the Isle of Man is just the catalyst to get the sisters back to talking with one another and exploring their relationship. The other people aren't really important in this story (although I'd like to know much more about them). I think that the stuff that happened with dear departed Mom is also going to be the spark that incites the two sisters to make changes in their own lives. And I have to laugh that Of Course the guy driving the cab had been an educated guy formerly in "Finance" and decided to chuck that life, as opposed to some yokel who is driving a cab because he can't do anything else for a living. Any bets that older sis is going to look at her shallow life of having affairs with married men and opt for the hipster-ish cabbie instead? 3 Link to comment
possibilities May 14 Share May 14 I will say that when the multiple-affair-having sister was all freaked out by the "respectably married" sister doing karaoke, I thought she was being ridiculous. But then it turns out that the karaoke did get a smoochy follow up, and a massive hangover, so I guess she kind of knew where her sister's behavior would lead. That actually did make me laugh. Takes one to know one, I suppose. 3 1 Link to comment

So far, I think the only character I like is Becca's daughter Lauren. The cab driver is OK, too, but I agree with this description of how conveniently nice he is. 1 Link to comment

I can’t tell you what I have seen in my life as far as people just not caring about a cat. They think it’s able to take care of itself in the wild. This seems to be especially common in England where they are very much free roaming. It really makes me angry to see how they are treated. The series really should have made mention of someone taking care of her cat Link to comment
