I am bummed he was eliminated at the maze, but that was truly a boneheaded move to get penalized. 

The important thing for me is that neither Stephanie or Amy won, and kudos to the show for eliminating the drama and alliances in the last two episodes - last of out maze and lowest case out - Boom! Night Owls shut down! Hoot hoot! Not! Now get off my tv forever.

I think it's interesting that Rob warned Stephanie many episodes earlier to watch out for the quiet ones in the middle and look who won. Personally, I would have at least asked how many cases would need to be opened in the next round. But either way, I knew there was no way someone was leaving with that entire pot. Still, good for her and good luck with her baby!

The star here was Rob though. He is just so great at these shows - even with a huge target he was able to last to the end and I absolutely believe he would have won if he hadn't been penalized. I will definitely watch another season. I hope they get another case gal to play and a different banker. But good luck finding another player like Rob. Maybe they can poach someone from the Traitors pool??? CT??? Shoot, I would love if Alan was the banker - think about the corporate synergy! 😜

Stephanie: Well, it's very difficult to lie in that sort of situation. Rob just happens to be an exceptional player and can detect a lie immediately, especially from a novice liar like myself in this competitive reality. Rob figures it out immediately. And so when you get trapped into this lie, you're like, "Okay, so do I save face with my alliance? Or do I say, 'You're right Rob? I'm a deceptive and the biggest manipulator here'?" No, you have to be like, "Absolutely not, wasn't me. You're delusional. You're causing problems." Because what is the alternative? The alternative is we are in a competitive reality space. This is a huge game with millions of dollars on the lie on the line, and lies will be told. And that's just the bottom line. From this season on to the next, you will receive liars in this game, people who must lie to make certain moves or do certain things. That's the name of these sorts of games. So it's unfortunate that people don't realize that and translate it into other areas, where that's just certainly not the case. This is a game and I played incredibly hard. That's not the only way to play. But that is how I chose to play. So it's unfortunate for people who are upset by that.
Amy: It's kind of annoying. Boston Rob has a fan base. He's been doing this for a very long time. I don't think people hated me for necessarily me or my gameplay. I think people hated me because I was going against Rob. So I think a lot of the hate and the backlash I'm getting is because I was against Rob. But being called a bully and a terrible mom, and I'm going to hell, I've heard it all. There's negative and there's positive. I didn't go on this show to be the next Boston Rob. I'm 42 years old. I didn't go on this show to be in America's Next Top Model. I didn't go on the show to be famous. I literally took this opportunity to change my family's lives, Love me or hate me. I don't mean this to sound rude. But like I said, I didn't go on the show to get fans. I'm not trying to be popular and a big media star. And I walked away with $85,000. It's not millions. But where I come from, that's a lot of money. So I'm proud of myself. And I don't hate Boston Rob in real life. I don't hate Aron in real life. We all get along great. We've talked since the show. We're all friends on social media. So a lot of people, I think, need to take a step back and know this was just a game. We all respect each other's game. And, like I said, we'll be friends for life. We all respected and enjoyed playing the game together.

I think Amy and Stephanie both missed the point of why people may not like them.  It's because they said mean and derogatory comments about other players behind their backs when there was no need to say such things.  Oh, and Stephanie is also presenting herself in a complimentary light as being 'new' to lying.  Maybe, maybe not.  And Amy is deflecting the criticism she has received by not acknowledging the things that she said.  Producers couldn't show such things if they didn't say/do them.

For Amy, creating the Night Owls alliance was her way of trying to get some control over Mariano's tight alliance. Asked if she thinks it helped or hindered her game, she said it was a positive strategy in the end.

"Only one person wins this game, so if I had a Night Owl playing [The Banker], if it wasn't me and I couldn't control my own game, if I had another Night Owl playing, I knew they were not gonna take me out."

"I really didn't like the fact that I had to change my target over to Alyssa. That bothered me," she [Stephanie] said. "But I had no guilt. I didn't want to have to focus on needing to eliminate her. But I had to because she became so vociferously opposed to me. I wasn't even until postproduction where I'm seeing all of these things about threats of violence unto me, stabbing me ... I didn't know that. But what I knew is that she wanted me out of there. So I had to shift to somebody that wasn't even on my radar. I had to shift my target and I really don't like how that had to happen. All the other ways in which it unfolded, I have no qualms about."

Amy agreed and said even trying to shake Jordan off the high wire, to her, was just the game. "I really didn't expect to be the villain," she said of social media reactions. "I've never done reality TV. This is my first show, and possibly my last. I don't know what the future holds. But I knew going into this that I had to put on a game hat. I had to go completely out of character. I had to know that I am fighting for millions of dollars. I've never in my life — not at a job, not in a competition — had the opportunity to win millions of dollars. So I told myself, I'm not gonna go in here and give 50%. I'm not gonna tiptoe around feelings. I'm gonna go in and give 110%. I don't care who likes me. I don't care who doesn't like me. I'm here for my friends and family. And that's what I did."

"I feel like we're all incredibly close to this day, particularly the Night Owls," Stephanie said. "With the majority of people who are in our group chats, we talk almost every day. And I adore Kim. This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience and to have an opportunity to share with the group of individuals that I got to share with is like a blessing that I will take on with me."

As for Amy, she said: "One thing I didn't do was be backstabby. I did make some pretty bold comments, though. But again, it's a game. It was nothing personal. I just had my game hat on and I played. I wanted to leave this game, whether I was a winner or a loser, knowing I left it all out there. I gave it everything."

It says a lot about my investment in this season that I forgot to watch the finale for about a week after it aired. And that I promptly forgot about it until I saw news of a second season.

Still, a few thoughts:

  • The show was built on a framework of predictability. I called Howie=Banker on day one, because of course. No one was looking to surprise us.
  • The lack of strategic acumen among the cast was almost staggering, unless it was by design. I think they purposefully cast people who would not pose a challenge to Rob. I don't know that Production cared if he won, but they wanted him there until the end. He was their ratings bread-and-butter.
  • The Banker's Game was always the least interesting part of each episode. With no real monetary stakes in each game, it was just a matter of opening cases until the odds were in your favor. I would have rather watched them roll craps.
  • Aside from ditching the Banker's Game entirely (which I know is not really an option), something should be done to make us care about the contestants. There weren't even that many, but they were ciphers to me. Show more camp life, show them doing something other that sitting in lounge chairs and hooting at one another. 

I doubt anything will be done to improve the show before next season. They have their predictable formula, and I expect they'll stick to it. What they won't have is me as a viewer, unless they bring in another ringer that I care about seeing.

But right now, the only thing that really intrigues me is the idea of Rob joining The Traitors. Of course he would be chosen as a traitor, and of course he'd have almost no chance of success with the giant target he'd be sporting, but it would still be fun to watch him navigate those very tricky waters. DO IT, ROB.

We might be on a different banker’s island.” And, with all love to Howie Mandel, this banker might carry even more heat. “I might have put in a call to a friend.” The mind reels at the possibilities—Channing Tatum? Steven Soderbergh? Salma effing Hayek?!

Oh, he wanted it. He wanted it just as bad as I did. And because Sydnee was fairly attracted to David, I really had to play hard to get that and jockey for that position. The deal at the end of the day was I had a good old Wisconsin handshake with David, telling him that if I won, Seychelle would be the one going home. That made David kind of back off to, “Okay, well, this might be my safest bet.” And I know that no matter what, Sydnee was probably going to go with what David wanted. So I had to appease David as well.

During the show, you saw that Seychelle was pretty sour with me. She is a spitfire, but she had reason to be a spitfire. That New Yorker in her came out. But that's because I told her face to face on camera prior to me going to Temple that she was going to be the one going home, despite her pleading with me why I should send David home. But I told her “I already had the good old Wisconsin handshake with David and unfortunately, you're going to be the one going home.”

There was that alliance with David. And I was going to honor that. And to this day, I still say if I would've won and made better decisions, Seychelle would've went. But in the end, you know what? It worked out the way it was supposed to. I made the poor decision. I was the one sent home. They get to live on and fight again.

But that’s apparently where the similarities end. “What's different is how much each of them matter in the different games," he continues. "In Deal or No Deal Island, the excursion part of the game is very important,” explains Rob. “It's where you can get an advantage, where you can get a leg up, and where you can keep yourself safe. In The Traitors, the sole purpose of the challenges is to add money to the pot, which at the end of the day doesn't really have any bearing on whether you're a Traitor or a Faithful or whether you stay.”

Boston Rob also notes that his latest reality adventure is in many ways closer to his first one in terms of the social and strategic elements at play. “Part of the game on Deal or No Deal has an element of luck and risk in it that is different from any other game that we play. There's also a mathematical part of it that you have to understand how to play correctly or optimally. On The Traitors, with the Roundtable, it's a lot closer to what a Survivor Tribal Council is, where you have to think about what you say, how you say it, listen to what other people are saying and be able to take in that information and put the pieces of the puzzle together and figure it out. The social parts of the games are similar on both shows. The alliances don't matter as much on Deal or No Deal Island, but on The Traitors, you really don't know.”

When it comes to what separates his new show the most from the previous two, Boston Rob says it is a matter of volume. “The main thing that's different from Traitors than Deal or No Deal Island, and Survivor for that matter, is the sheer number of people involved. Even on Survivor, even if it's a season where there's 20 people, they're split into two camps, so you’ve got to manage 10 people. On Traitors, there's 22 people. I mean, just trying to talk to that amount of people in the amount of time that you have before you go to the Roundtable or challenge or anything — it's almost impossible. And it's definitely impossible to have a one-on-one conversation with anyone.”

Not necessarily. Here was my takeaway… coming into the Temple with Rock, there was a part of me that wanted — or I should say, contemplated — that maybe my job was to gently nudge the players into making the “right” decisions. But this particular Temple kept me up at night afterward. Seeing how much Rock regretted not trusting his gut and riding his case all the way to the end, which meant he would have won and added well over a million dollars to the Final Case, made me realize that my job at its core is to set up the consequences for the audience, and then ride the roller coaster with the guest in whatever way they choose to ride it.

Oh, don’t get me wrong, I’m absolutely going to judge their actions and the outcomes of their decisions along the way, but no one wants to watch a blackjack table strictly play by the rules. The contestants reveal who they are by the way they play against the Banker, and I’m there to fully encourage it in my own subtle way.

This is two times already where I get the sense Seychelle was going to be picked to go home had Luke and Rock beaten the Banker. Does she need to work on her social game out there in terms of making connections to protect her from that happening again?
Yes. But, then again, maybe it’s two weeks of women wielding power — first Sydnee and then Parvati — who didn’t want to send David home. It’s not that anyone is targeting Seychelle, it’s just that part of David’s game is being attractive to women, and it is absolutely protecting him in this game. It would have been very telling had Rock won, would he have sent David home? We’ll never know…

What’s it like for you to sit on the other side of all these interviews for the aftershow? 
Rob Mariano: I think a lot of people are interested in this little bit of a transition for me. It’s different. At the same time, I’m still on Peacock playing Traitors and actively involved in competition reality. But something different, a fun, unique opportunity, and I think the audience is enjoying it for sure. 

How do you find that balance between giving contestants your honest critiques and not just roasting them right there in the chair? 
Yeah, well, I think because I bring a unique perspective of somebody that’s actually been through the position they’ve been through, I can hold their feet to the fire a little bit more and also ask the questions that myself — as someone watching as an audience member — actually wants to know and do it in a way that’s not insulting or irritating. Because I call it like I see it. That’s what I’m known for, and that’s what they expect. At the same time, I feel like I show them the grace that I understand it’s a game, it’s a high-pressure situation. Sometimes you don’t make optimal decisions because there’s a lot of other things going on. And if anyone understands that, it’s me. 

It seems like you have a bit of a put-on, personality-wise, when you’re doing these kinds of shows. Do you feel like you’re doing that with this aftershow as well? 
I mean, I feel like I don’t necessarily play a character. I’ve always been me, but when I’m in a competition reality show, I will do what I have to do within the context of the rules to give myself an advantage to win. But I promise the guy you see on TV is the same guy. I am that way. I’m competitive… I’m not really trying to murder you or get you voted out or whatever else. So, I’m not necessarily, when I’m interviewing them, trying to be what you see on TV. But I’m also not going to interview them in a way that’s different from that person because that person is me, if that makes sense.

So far we’ve only seen you in the interviews with first-time players. How will it be different when you are interviewing the other TV stars on the show?
So obviously, I’ll be more critical of their game because they have experience playing, and they also have more experience in front of the camera and the back and forth. But they should know me well enough to know that I’m not gonna let them get off the hook either because I have a job to do. But it’s fun. I’ve never met Dr. Will [Kirby] in real life. I don’t know David [Genat]. And Parvati [Shallow] and I have a long history, and I would call her a friend. But they’re all very capable at playing these games, and they also understand the ins and outs of an interview.

You were the first celebrity contestant on Deal or No Deal Island. How do you feel about the fact that Season 2 is ramping it up so much? 
I think it’s smart. It’s really smart from a network point of view. That way if you lose who’s your quote unquote [famous] person that you have other people. At the same time, I’m pretty surprised that all three of them are still in the game because I thought for sure after I went, they would be targeted immediately. Luckily for Parvati at this point, she hasn’t even been in jeopardy of going home because she’s been able to keep herself safe. And I think in Deal or No Deal Island, that format, I think that’s really important. If you can put yourself in a position that you are safe at temple, then you really reduce the variance and risk involved.  And also with Will coming in late, that was a different situation, so he’s up against it for sure. So watching him scramble and navigate is also entertaining.

Dickson Wong faces off against the Banker in Deal or No Deal Island Season 2, Episode 4.

The Banker’s offer was $3,200,000, but Dickson declined it. If he has the $5 million in his case, then he stays in the game. If not, Dickson will go home. He has the $5 million, and the crowd goes wild!

In a Deal or No Deal Island record, $5 million will be added to the final case, making the value $5,531,001.

Storm Wilson was the fourth player eliminated in Deal or No Deal Island Season 2.

Dickson said, “I feel like I’m one of those people that came to play, and I think what’s best for my game … the best chance for me to win this game is to, unfortunately, take out Storm. So, I’m really sorry, dude.” He added, “But at the end of the day, I came to play this season. So, let’s go.”

Everyone was shocked, including MG. “Brother, did you see that coming?” Joe asked Storm. He admitted that he didn’t. “I’m shocked because I thought y’all were friends,” MG said.

In his final confessional, Storm said, “I can honestly say that I don’t think anybody saw that coming. It blindsided me.” But before Storm left, MG crashed his confessional, asking, “Can I get something before you go?” And they kissed.

However, Dickson just put a giant target on himself and the “family.” Dr. Will is furious that Dickson lied to him, and he wants payback.
