I wonder if this is just another way to muddy the water in terms of what was said on BBT.  They come close, like in the affair that so far hasn't been an affair, but they change things up just enough that we are probably supposed to stop comparing this show to BBT.

I think this summer he is going as a student so it looks good on his transcript. When his father passed away, HE was the visiting professor, possibly at the same institution that he is going to now.

Totally agree. It is just an exercise in frustration to try to force the writers of Young Sheldon to conform to BBT.
