This French mystery crime show just started showing at our local PBS.  Astrid, an autistic woman who works in the library of the judicial police has an incredible memory, & assists the local police force in analyzing the files for ongoing investigations. She & the female commander, Raphaëlle have a special camaraderie that is quite wonderful (although the coroner, Fournier is my fave). A fascinating & very well done show - thankful for the subtitles. Apparently in its 4th season as it is quite popular.

Thanks for the tip about this show! I had never heard of it. We watched the first half of the 2 part “The Haunting” on our PBS station last night and really enjoyed it. Going to Amazon Prime for the first pilot episode, which we missed, but is apparently free there (other episodes require a PBS Masterpiece membership).

We're now most of the way through Season 2. Have enjoyed this show greatly since Season 1 first appeared on Prime. Astrid is a wonderful character, and Sara Mortensen's portrayal of her is iconic.

Until discovering this thread, I had no idea that the actual French name of the show is Astrid & Raphaëlle! (Prime/PBS just calls it Astrid.) Thanks for creating it, @swissair100.

I can't remember the name of the episode. But there's one where Astrid and William are in the cemetery trying to open a crypt but are having trouble. William asks what Raphelle would do in this situation. Astrid says she'd get mad and say shit a lot. So they both do that to see if it helps. It doesn't but it's hilarious.

I watched S4, Episode 1 as well. Cracked up as everyone mentioned Raph's new hairstyle.

Loved the sleepover! Laughed out loud at Astrid complaining that Raph's "twisting and turning" was keeping her awake. They are like an old married couple.

Looking forward to meeting Astrid's half-brother.

Edited to add: Have now watched through Episode 5. The episode set at the chess tournament is my favorite. Loving the introduction of Niels.

I've finished watching the season and will be interested to see what others think of the last episode. I agree with @chitowngirl that some developments were strangely skipped over and am not sure I like some of the choices made that will presumably play out next season.

Anyway, I just found out that there's a British remake of the show called Patience starring Laura Fraser in the Raphaëlle role and Ella Maisy Purvis as the title character. I wonder if an American version is in the works too.

A great season I loved Astrid and Neils. They were great together. Astrid getting comfortable enough with him staying the night once a week. That was great. I really hated him moving away.

I love the sleepover.

I love Astrid and Tetsuo. They are so cute together. Astrid learns to play Go.

The from the future was interesting. I like that Astrid couldn't dispute it because it hasn't happened yet. Raphelle does because it's never happened before.

The cloning one was weird.

I don't like that Nico and Raphelle finally get together and we missed it. It would have been more fun to see it finally happening after waiting for so long.

I'm glad there will be another season.

Thanks for posting about Patience, krandydoodle.  I see that it is scheduled to appear on PBS in America sometime this year.

One of the detectives is played by Mark Benton, a favorite actor of ours from Shakespeare and Hathaway.

It'll be great to see Mark Benton in another show. Especially since Shakespeare and Hathaway doesn't seem to becoming back.
