Brown44 February 28, 2023 Share February 28, 2023 Now that the season is over so I guess they had decided to scrap Hemingway's father storyline from the pilot episode. Link to comment
TheOtherOne February 28, 2023 Share February 28, 2023 I guess I was wrong. They really would pull the rug out from under the family again. Some okay twists, but on the whole it was sort of unsatisfying, not to mention depressing. - Why did fake Keith's mother come after him? When she ran him over with the car, she came out screaming, "I warned you not to tell anyone. I told you what would happen if you did." What did she think he'd told them? And why hadn't she come after him sooner? Your son is pretending to be someone else's kid and you...send him threatening text messages? You don't go and drag his ass back when no one's looking much sooner, especially when you're a crazy woman with a gun? - Airing these two episodes together was too much. With the first crazy woman killing her husband and the second crazy woman butchering kids to save her (dead?) son and the third crazy woman killing her own son...too many crazy women killing people in a row. Too over-the-top and depressing (and misogynistic?). - I'm tired of the show's insistence on justifying the cops doing illegal things because the circumstances are desperate and they have no other options. It's still not right. And it's gross. - With the lingering looks, it feels like they're leaving the love triangle to hang on for another season. I'm not interested. - With the mention that they were dragging the lake, I guess we're supposed to assume they would find real Keith's body (and there just happened to be two dead boys of similar ages and heights in the lake)? And if that's the case, why didn't they wait until they knew for sure either way to do the ceremony? We deserve a conclusive answer after getting jerked around for 10 episodes. This also felt too much like leaving the possibility open for more Keith drama in the future. Again, not interested. This was a bad show. I hope Ryan Broussard gets on a better one. 7 1 Link to comment
Msample February 28, 2023 Share February 28, 2023 For some reason I find it hilarious that Scott Caan's character carries a snub nose revolver in this day and age - is it his dad's prop gun from the Godfather or something ? I can't remember the last time I saw a TV cop carrying a revolver, let alone a little pop gun. 1 Link to comment
BravoAddict72 February 28, 2023 Share February 28, 2023 Did C say that he was a trans man? I don't remember hearing that before. 2 Link to comment
Madding crowd February 28, 2023 Share February 28, 2023 This was a pretty gruesome episode and I didn't like fake Keith being killed. I agree with whoever said it made no sense for the boy's real mom to be yelling threats about 'not telling' and hitting her son with a car. There were too many psychos in one episode. The whole story with the trauma surgeon capturing homeless kids and draining their blood was over the top. How would she know what their blood types were? They said all of the bodies found had died from blood loss; wouldn't at least one or more of them be the wrong blood type? She was really operating on a dead kid? Over the top. Also think this missing person unit would be in a lot of trouble by doing things without proper authorization or warrants, insisting that witnesses take part in spiritual rituals and randomly taking someone in the forensic science department (the trans guy) to crime scenes even though it is not his job to process those scenes. I didn't mind the missing bride case but I have no idea why they went nuts on the Keith case. I'm still guessing he is somehow alive. 2 1 Link to comment

Lady Calypso March 1, 2023 Share March 1, 2023 Well, what I wanted to happen DID happen (Fake Keith being really Fake Keith). That made it more interesting to me, BUT the reveal needed to happen earlier in the episode and I wanted it to be a bit more exciting. It felt very bland with it just being that Fake Keith was convinced by his abusive mother to scam the family, but he didn't really...do anything while he was scamming the family. Yes, he said he was really just looking for a new family but...I feel like it would have been more fun to see Fake Keith do shady stuff to justify him dying in the end. Alas, he gets shot for no good reason and the family is back where they started. But, uh, I guess they did a healing ritual so all is good? Sidney should have stayed convinced that this wasn't her brother. I was imagining a scenario where Sidney discovered the truth and Fake Keith would have had to shut her up. Yeah, the crazy lady trope for both episodes was a weird choice. Overall, what a bad series. It had a good premise but its execution was terrible and also boring. Nothing really happened on the Fake Keith front and then everyone was really just assholes throughout. I really hope it doesn't come back because it wasn't even fun snarky like La Brea is; it's just plain bad. 3 Link to comment
MarylandGirl March 3, 2023 Share March 3, 2023 What even was this? Just so much craziness. At one point, I was like, "OK, this is about over," then realized there was still 30 minutes to go. The Briana part of the episode was fairly interesting and could have been a decent standalone case, had the writing been better. The Fake Keith stuff was so over the top though. I also didn't like that he ended up being killed. I figured the surgeon kidnapper's son was actually dead, but thought he'd be more clearly long-dead, like a mummy or something. I really don't see how this gets renewed. As @Lady Calypso said, it was a good premise, but bad writing. And bad casting. And bad acting. 2 Link to comment
