I would really like to know the justification behind the boobs galore.
Is it the directors? the costumes department? the lead actress? the writing room? the showrunner? A sponsor??

I mean WTF?

Niecy’s also a producer as well as the lead, so I presume that if the show is showcasing her cleavage this much, it’s because SHE wants it to be shown that much.  I’m guessing the show is thinking it’s leaning in — it would be difficult to ignore her boobs completely, so they might as well lean into it?  I’m not saying it’s the best decision, but the “logic” behind it makes sense.

In *bad* decisions, I thought the cinematography here was really bad - a lot of the scenes in the ops center seemed excessively underlit and a lot of other scenes relied on the lazy crank up the oranges-and-blues cinematography that started getting shit 10 years ago (you can see it in the screencaps above!  Nothing but blue and orange!) or they had both.

I don’t know if the underlighting was a deliberate choice to make this seem different and/or “darker” (literally!) than the Original Rookie and I have and will continue to talk a lot of smack about that show, but at least it is competently lit.

(Every single week, I watch ‘Reboot’ and it works completely comedically but it has a HUGE case of the uglies with yet more orange-and-teal and it just ruins my enjoyment.)

For a “crossover event” there wasn’t much crossover in the back half!

I didn't see it as a continuation of The Rookie. I'm so confused.

The (specific show spoiler)

NCIS franchise

did something similar to open their season when the older show dealt with a long term nemesis and they also introduced someone linked to that threat which was chased down in their "crossover event". I would say Law & Order franchise upped the game on "crossover events, with their three hour TV movie to start this season.

I was joking about the league of extraordinary  guidance counselors on a mothership thread. Consider me shocked when Special Agent Garza threw out the line.

I get that Simone was a guidance counselor for a long time but I am SO SICK of almost every conversation being compared to her experience as a guidance counselor. You cannot tell me that every situation they deal with can be resolved by using her Guidance Counselor superpowers.

And I get that the writers are referring to Simone being of the "League of Extraordinary  Guidance Counselors" to cheekily convey to viewers who might have just started watching that Simone has some background that prepared her to start a new career with the FBI at middle age.

But it's a mental leap for most viewers to see Simone going from high school guidance counseling to FBI profiling, even if she had an undergraduate degree in Psychology, or, better yet, a PhD——neither of which have been mentioned, and probably won't be, because those degrees wouldn't mean much to most viewers.

Over on the CBS show FBI, there's a younger, new team member who was previously a cop, which is a lot easier for viewers to believe is a background that prepared her to be an FBI agent——especially because the TV landscape has long had fibbies showing up to work with cops on scripted shows.

I like this show and I like how the team are mostly supportive of each other and building a good team, but Britt Robertson really does NOT work for me. She is such a weak link. I really don't buy her being such a knowledgable (supposedly) profiler. There are some actors who can carry it off but she totally cannot. I cringe every time she opens her mouth and starts spewing her lines. That being said, that guest profiler was an azz to come in and start contradicting her in front of the team. So of course, she hooks up with him RME.

I like Niecy but I am in total agreement over her cleavage! I get it, she's very developed, but it's unprofessional to have her shirts so low/opened in every dang episode.

Man, that was a creepy episode tho. Come on, ladies, NEVER GO TO A STRANGE GUY'S HOUSE!! She didn't deserve to die or be tortured, but that was DUMB!!

Hey, at least she didn't go skipping into the basement!

The cleavage is ridiculous, especially as someone who used to work around kids.

If you have an issue with Niecy Nash-Betts body, next episode she is going to the beach. Let's see if she breaks out the string bikini.

It's not so much an issue with her body. I would never think of body shaming. It's the amount of EXTREMELY lowcut, tight tops she wears, and the job she has, and if it's at all realistic she'd be allowed to continue with this dress code, much less the nails, jewelry, etc. She worked at a school, and it would seem to me dressing in clothes that revealed her bra while she was on the job, would definitely have been frowned upon.

If she's on a beach, and she's supposed to blend in, it's fine if she wears a bikini.

Agreed. It's not at all her body, it's being in a professional capacity like this and having her shirt open to practically her belly button. It's inappropriate for the work place IMO.

And very well said on the "almost" victim of the serial killer, at least she finally twigged on the creepiness of the guy and didn't go down to the basement LOL.

I first saw her on Reno 911! and I'll never forget her walking on the beach in her string bikini!

While I got used to her exposed boobage on Claws, it's totally inappropriate for an FBI agent.

I don't watch this but my wife does and I watched this episode because it was a crossover with The Rookie (barely).  Anyway, what's with Nash's boobs hanging out all the time?  I'm sure the FBI has some sort of dress code and covering yourself up would be part of it.

I guess they fall under that it is not a documentary.  Like the visible neck tattoo on Officer Chen on the mothership show.

Am I the only one who googled 'sink puppies' after this episode?

I have to admit that I'm liking this show a lot more than I expected to.  It's not exactly mentally taxing and I like that the characters all seem to be getting on fairly well together.  Still prefer the original show, but it's not as far apart as I thought it would be.
