Whew, chile! This was quite an episode. I can only imagine what we're getting in the finale!

Pastor Woodbine is a hot ass mess with that tired twerk. lol And this has to be the wildest election ever.

I didn't expect Autumn being pregnant. And here comes wifey to complicate matters even more. Many aren't into Autumn but I find her interesting because I'm never quite sure where she's coming from. I like a good wildcard. I can take or leave Andre.

I also was surprised at the Uncle Clifford/Corbin interaction. I always thought that they were raised liked brothers, not "brothers".

If we get a next season (fingers crossed), it's looking like Roulette will be becoming a madame, which should pose some interesting conflicts with Clifford. Speaking of which, I hated to see that fight between Clifford and Big L. They are my underrated dynamic duo and both had some points.

I'm on pins and needles with this Keyshawn plot. I'm so nervous for the girl lol And I knew Big Bone would be nothing but trouble.

That had better not be the last we see of Loretta Divine! The only acceptable reason for killing off Ernestine would be if Loretta was unable to return for some reason.

Whisper has mostly been providing comic relief, but that was cold as ice for her to encourage Roulette to pimp Toy out  - particularly after her own harrowing experience.

I don't trust Farrah one bit. She owed Mercedes a huge apology for fucking up that opportunity for her.

I continue to be amazed at how a show about female strippers requires the male cast to do the most revealing scenes. I was not expecting to get a glimpse of Corbin's erection - not that I'm complaining!

Not Andre's wife making a surprise visit; now that he has a shot of winning the mayoral race, she wants to play politician's wife. I hope he doesn't take her back.  I know most folks aren't feeling Andre and Hailey/Autumn, but I do find them intriguing; they have amazing chemistry on screen, and I do want to see them together--that may happen now that she could be pregnant.

I have a love/hate thing with Roulette; I love her bad@$$ ways, but she’s nothing but trouble, plus she is sooo disrespectful to Mercedes. And pimp out Toi…trouble.

The photos of Mercedes were sooo stunning, I loved how it was viewed as empowering, and patrons saw her as more than a stripper.  Heck, I think it Mercedes felt empowered—that was right on time after the confrontation she had at the Pynk. I hope it inspires her to seek something bigger as Uncle Clifford suggested……

I’m glad she shot Faith down and set her boundaries, and kudos to Faith for respecting it. I think they’ll end up good friends. On a shallow note, I am sooo mad they had Faith looking like someone’s Auntie at a church cookout. Did the wardrobe crew borrow one of Tyler Perry’s bad wigs? I mean seriously.

$h!+ is about to hit the fan after Big Bone saw Keyshawn kissing Diamond. She’s another one who’s up to no good. I am hoping for Keyshawn’s clean break from Derek.

I realized the Pico’s demise was addressed on the last episode, but since it’s an ongoing storyline: Why did he think it was a flex to lie about popping Big Teak?? Why would anyone think it was cool to claim such a thing—and on video at that.  It was mad disrespectful.

I think Corbin and Uncle Clifford may have hooked up at some point during their friendship. Corbin is giving me closeted vibe.

I hope Ernestine pulls through, too. I love seeing Miss Devine on my screen

Because he was a disrespectful idiot and an asshole. He wanted the clout from killing a guy like Big Teak, his dumb ass didn’t realize whoever did kill Big Teak wouldn’t stand for it (Teak died by suicide, which we know but he didn’t).

I’m scared for KeyShawn now. What’s Big Bone’s problem. Diamond isn’t even her boyfriend, it’s supposed to be CASUAL. She’s making herself look like a jealous shrew.

I think she may be pregnant too, but is it his? She may not know. I thought they were physically distancing during the pandemic/when she was fucking her co-worker.

Corbin's kink made me very uncomfortable. A mixed race man who is the product of rape, who works the cotton fields and gets off on being whipped...nope...not cool!

I am Team No One when it comes to Andre and his wife. Just end it! He checked out long before Hailey, his wife knows it and that's why she sought comfort with her co-worker.

I love domestic Cliff and Murda.

So Derrick got the job he interviewed for which I am assuming is the same one he went for after he almost maimed Keyshawn with the iron. Now,  he could calm down enough to sucessfully compose himself in a professionally for an interview, he can keep himself together and not beat the shit out of girlfriend and their son.  I am on edge til the finale because I hope Keyshawn and the kids gets away from him.

Forgive me, was this the "fantasy" Corbin described to Uncle Clifford? I may have missed some dialogue. (If it was my apologies, but that would surprise me given the number of black directors and writers on this project)

But I didnt see it that way, Corbin is free to indulge in his kinks, but I saw it very differently, there was a lot of submission and homoeroticism in the scene, and we have no indication that Corbin is a product of rape and he does not perform agricultural labor. Uncle Clifford is a black non binary person whipping him, someone he has known from childhood and we as the viewer trust implicitly (we know Uncle Clifford is trust worthy and very respectful of boundaries). If there was anyone Corbin should be engaging in those things with it should be someone like Uncle Clifford.

Again, I am sorry if I missed some critical dialogue!

Derrick is "happy" right now with this new job, so he is less suspicious of anything (he has something to occupy his mind)- but I don't like the way Big Bone was looking at her. Pure jealousy. They cast the actress to play Big Bone for a reason, she is gorgeous and sexy and sensual, but KeyShawn has a "sweetness" and "innocence" to her face that Big Bone could never have. I also think that was her and Diamond's first (and perhaps only) kiss- he was her rescuer/ knight in shining armor, with an automatic weapon. Yeah..

Katori Hall tweeted that Corbin is the product of his white father raping one of his black maids. Also, last ep we saw him.working on his land trying to get the water irregation system up and last season we saw him riding the tractor around the land.

Thank you. I did not know Corbin was a product of rape. I remember the irrigation system scene (which from a narrative point of view made sense).

I see where you are better coming from now. If they wanted Corbin to have a sexual kink with Uncle Clifford, or demonstrate that they had a sexual past there were better ways to do that.

There was also a first season scene where the Pynk dancers were dominating Corbin in the back room. They did a whole plantation scene at his request, in which he was a slave being punished.

His brother was right about one thing - their father certainly did take care of him financially. He can afford $250K for an S&M session?

For a town (presumably a small one) in the poorest county in the poorest state in the US, there sure seems to be a lot of money being thrown around. The amount of cash that gets casually tossed in the air at the Pynk is absolutely wild. A particular plot of land where a casino could be built is worth $5 - $10 million. And the mayoral candidates have money for highly produced television ads.

Thanks @Blakeston. There are rich people everywhere, many of the wealthy members of Chuckilissa may drive to a neighboring city for work, or have one of the few lucrative positions within the town. With things being so insular, imagine there is not a lot of mobility.

Also, there are a lot of emotional and social factors that contribute to individuals spending their money on places like the Pynk, but have no emergency savings, are upside down on their vehicles etc. It is expensive to be poor, and it takes a lot of emotional fortitude to plan for the future when youre immediate needs are not being met. I do think the cost of living is probably quite cheap, so things like rent/mortgages don't eat up a lot of the citizens income. And many people like Uncle Clifford live multi-generationally in a family house/building so they aren't paying market rent.

Some really interesting emotional beats in this ep.

The scene with Farrah and Mercedes at the art gallery will probably go down as one of my favorites of the series. It was such a celebration of strength and beauty. Just like this show. Mercedes' face walking into the gallery was wonderful as she got to see herself through Farrah's eyes and hear the compliments of the other patrons. That one photo with the setting sun in the background was perfection. Whoever the photographer is in real life, I'd love to see their other work. Mercedes telling Farrah that what happened between them was business made me kinds of sad.

Mercedes watching Keyshawn's last dance with awe and respect just put me in my feelings. Especially when Mercedes said that "sometimes a bitch wannabe blessed by some art." She took her experience from the gallery and it helped her make peace with Keyshawn on some level. She knew something was up with Keyshawn and she chose grace.

I get what you mean but I’m not surprised. Mercedes has always presented herself as straight, she was flattered and enjoyed the interaction with Farrah but she was there to get paid. I don’t think she was any more attracted to her (sexually) than Coach. But she can appreciate the experience. Those photos of her were gorgeous.

She does seem to like the guy who is on house arrest, I wonder why she hasn’t had a real love interest yet. Nor does it seem that she’s had a serious relationship (she hasn’t mentioned one).

I don't think Mercedes had business on her mind when she hooked up with Farrah one-on-one, without the coach there. That didn't serve her business interests at all. It ended up destroying them.

I think she found her dalliance with Farrah to be reasonably enjoyable, even though her orientation is mostly male-focused.

Hahaha, I had the same thought. Why'd they put her in that tired wig? Her hair during her sessions with Mercedes looked nice. This wig made her look matronly AF. That must be her "I'm a serious artist" wig.

I sure hope Farrah broke Mercedes off a percentage of whatever images she sold. It's the least she could do after messing up Mercedes' bag.

Didn’t Farrah pay her after that?

I agree with all of this!

@sereion, “church auntie at a cookout” I’m dying!!!

One other scene I really liked was the conversation between Lil Murda and Mercedes when he told her how much he admired and respected her. His telling her how her booty could always find the beat while she slowly smiled and realized that he was paying her a real compliment. Then he turns around and asks her to listen to his newest music. When she said that she might not like it, he said he was willing to take that risk because he respects her so much. That was the kind of scene that sets this show apart from others.
