Fourth Season

Recommended Posts

I wonder where they go from here?  It sort of seems that people are on this show just to be on the show, I mean I'm much older than the MTV target audience and even I know what "catfishing" is.  So now it just seems more like a scripted drama.

I wonder that myself. They've already showed enough of basically the same old plotline that has gotten boring. In the beginning the reveals were (at least a little) shocking, but now they're mostly "meh". At this point I refuse to believe people in this day and age are willfully so stupid. They just want their 15 minutes.

We've already seen subjects who have done the types of simple web exploration Nev has done in prior seasons. To keep the same formula, he needs to step up his game and help people who have reached a dead end using those techniques. Otherwise, he'll just be making the same phone call that could have been made without him, offering a TV appearance as a lure to get together.

Right. All that Nev has that none of us probably do is a paid Spokeo account. Besides that, anyone with even a basic knowledge of the internet can Google names, numbers, and images. That kind of "detective work" isn't terribly impressive anymore.

Maybe he'll do more vigilante justice work and toss more cell phones into rivers a la Kidd Cole. I would watch that.

Seriously Nev seemed extremely jaded and bored with most of the character this last season. The only satisfying episode was that secret one that never aired with Blake and Kendra, and only because Kendra was so sneaky and I felt Blake was actually shocked that he had been duped.

Spoiler Alert:

The catfish will be fat. And ugly.

Aw, man! Now you've gone and ruined the whole season for me!  Next you're going to tell me that those people from Nigeria who have been emailing me really aren't going to send me a lot of money :)

When will people learn? If you're mediocre in looks and status that hot bikini model/chippendale's dancer is not going to go for you no matter how nice a person you are or how good your heart is.  That picture you are corresponding with is either a)a fat chick/dude b)someone screwing with you.  That's the freaking outcome of practically every episode.

I agree, although it sure makes great TV.  Playing devil's advocate, we rarely (if ever) get exposed to the ones that do work, and I doubt they'll submit their stories to the show because they weren't really 'catfished'.  That being said, the people we see are uber idiots and/or delusional.

I'm not sure I'm gonna like this new change in the roster for the next season. I want my Max!

Curious how they're planning to layout the shows though, if it isn't following the previous seasons' formula. It has the possibility to go either way, I guess. I'm in for at least the first episode or two.

That's the part that stuns me with every episode. The people who have been duped should really look in the mirror. They are average, dull, unfit people who (for some reason) think the gorgeous person in the profile picture will want them, and are professing their love. Get real! I recall some guy named Antwone, who was extremely unattractive, saying that his online love had better be good-looking. Meanwhile, getting off the couch was an olympic event for Antwone.

OMG.  Antwone was a disgusting slob and yet he snootily said that HE didn't want to date anybody who wasn't a ten??!!! Obviously I don't approve of cat-fishing, but the TOTAL LACK OF SELF-AWARENESS of some of the "victims" makes me feel little sympathy for them.

I don't know who any of the guest hosts are.  Is this what aging feels like?

CharIamagne has been appearing on other MTV shows. The others are probably in this because so few people have heard of them. Nobody pays attention to pageant winners. The singer probably shouldn't have chosen a name that could be confused with a porn actress.
