S02.E04: The Sex Cabin

The college bf was SUCH a lout, it made me wonder what the hell was going on with him. That was beyond the usual margin of error for bad behavior. I mean, I actually love the idea of a hand only series, and I do actually take photos of insects so I thought his beauty + shit composition was a great idea. BUT his complete lack of interest in anything Mia had to say, plus his completely ignoring her during the tire change? Yeah, no. I am glad she left him by the side of the road, and I hope she did not change the tire before she left. Though, I also wasn't buying the "damsel doesn't know about changing tires, needs male to guide her through it".

Andrew being the voice of wisdom about sex and relationships was certainly unexpected. I can't decide if it's a retcon or just an evolution.

I give the show points for making sure everyone had condoms, but demerits for then totally forgetting about it when they became necessary.

These kids are honestly more mature than most adults, though.

He's always had a high opinion of himself, but he's never seemed like a bad dude.

It's been a long, long time since I've seen a show handle teen sexuality so well.

It was a nice episode and good for them to show honest conversations between Victor and Benji and Lake and Felix. As soon as Felix bought those razors, I felt sorry for him, knowing where it was going. I wouldn't consider it a good idea to go to that lake (no pun indended, I swear) with an open wound, though. And yes, I wondered as well, where did he stack those condoms since he only had that towel.

I hope Mia can catch a break soon, she has had bad plots every episode so far. Not sure how I feel about her hooking up with Andrew, as seems to be forshadowed.

I can't remember why Mia was so mad at him before. This is the problem with shows that have long pauses between seasons.

At Andrew? I can't remember everything from last season either, but I thought they ended up in a good place and she was just disappointed in this season's first episode, because she thought they might get back together, but then he was with Lucy.

They're all just so sweet. ❤️ Of course Victor is going to be nervous. He had a point about getting info not being as easy as it is for straight people.

I love how open Felix is. No usual stupid teen show shit where he tries to hide that he sliced up his balls. He just owned that shit.

Episodes like this make me feel like I am really out of touch even though I am just in my 30s. Are parents nowadays supposed to support our high school kids going on blatant sex retreats for the weekend?

Your post made me laugh.

I am 35 and I always thought my Mom was pretty strict about some stuff (like grades, behavior, how I spoke to my elders etc) but she would’ve been okay with this. I went to parties in Indiana (and stayed over night, we live in Chicago) and the rule was I had to give her the address, call when I got there, and call when I was on my way home. (This is what happened when someone’s parents were out of town)

So I don’t think it’s weird the kids at 16/17yrs old (Victor turned 16 last school year) would be allowed to go to the Lake House an hour away if Benji’s parents were okay with it. There’s no service so I assume that they have a landline there in an emergency. (I guess not if Victor walked all the way to the store!)

Andrew was a pretty big jerk at the start of the series (bullying Victor, knocking down his lunch etc) but he’s done some decent things like 1. Not outing Victor, 2. Being straight with Mia about his feelings towards her, 3. Making amends with Felix.

He’s not totally redeemed in my eyes though.
